Swetha Basu turned as Filmmaker

Heroine Shweta Basu Prasad who has worked in Telugu films such as “Kotha Bangaru Lokam” and “Genius” is

now making a comeback as a filmmaker for a documentary on traditional Hindustani classical music.

Swetha has helmed a documentary titled “Roots”, which focuses on the declining visibility of Hindustani

classical music in India.Swetha said that to encourage Indian youth to have a fascination for Indian classic music

and also respect it, she decided to make this documentary.

“I have been working on this project over the last three years and that’s the reason I could not sign any film.

Since I come from a background of music and arts, I wanted to make this documentary on Hindustani classical

music and why it’s losing its prominence,” ” explains Shweta, who won a National Award for her performance in

Makdee.
