• में�ज़ पर चया है� । mez par cāy hai. General Statement: There is tea on the table. Noun + verb = ‘there is noun’

• चया में�ज़ पर है� । cāy mez par hai. Specific statement: The tea is on the table.Noun + ppn. + verb = ‘The noun is …’

Adjectives before postpositions

• Postpositions influence (‘govern’) both the nouns they follow and any adjectives that describe that noun.

• Adjectives agreeing with feminine subjects don’t change.

• Adjectives agreeing with masculine subjects change ā to e

Pronouns before postpositions

• Postpositions (ppn.) influence (‘govern’) both the nouns they follow and any pronouns that describe that noun. The pattern is:

याहै yah + ppn. = इसे is

वहै vah + ppn. = उसे us

या� ye + ppn. = इना in

व� ve + ppn. = उना un

याहै प्याले है� yah pyālā hai

इसे प्याले� में� प�ना है� is pyāle mẽ pen

hai
