You can include other drives if you want as well but remember that will add to the size of the final image. At the confirmation screen notice the amount of space the image may take. If something doesn’t look right you can still go back from this point and make adjustments. A progress meter is displayed while the images is created and backed up. In this example a disk of about 15GB in size took under 20 minutes backed up to an external drive. After the process is complete you get the option to create a system repair disc which you should do and make sure to save it in a secure location. When it comes time to restore the image, you will be able to use the System Recovery Options to get the system back.

Get a Blank Drive and Connect to your Computer

If you want to create a clone of your hard drive then you will need a blank drive to boot it from. Depending on the size of your hard drive you should get a different size of hard drive or external disc. Personally I would recommend at least a 500GB drive for a computer that is 500GB, but remember that drives do tend to crash if filled to the max. Creating a bootable drive on a disc does wipe any data from it so it is important that you use a blank disc or one with data that you don’t want to use. If you have already installed Apple Soft disk clone software on your computer then you can simply open it from the shortcut on your desktop. If not, simply download it from the Apple Soft website, the installation only takes a few minutes and you do not have to restart your computer. Choose a Clone Method

You can also choose advance disc migration which gives you a little more control over what you move over. General Cleaning Tips

Managing devices with Device Manager

Device Manager provides a graphical view of the hardware that is installed on the computer, as well as the device drivers and resources associated with that hardware.
