TOPIC : POLYGONS

Page 4: Akhila babu

POLYGONSA closed figure having three or more sides are generally called as

polygons. The basic geometrical notion of a polygon has been adapted in

various ways to suit particular purposes. Mathematicians are often

concerned only with the bounding closed polygonal chain and with simple

polygon which do not self-intersect, and they often define a polygon

accordingly

Examples of Polygons

Regular Polygons

A polygon with equal sides and equal angles are called a regular polygon.

Regular polygons may be convex or star. In the limit, a sequence ofregular polygons with an increasing number of sides becomes a circle.

Square

A quadrilateral with equal sides and equal

angles are called as square

Regular Pentagon

A pentagon with equal sides and equal

angles are called regular pentagon

Regular hexagon

A hexagon with equal sides and equal

angles are called regular hexagon
