She is an eloquent and powerful orator, inspirational writer, humble teacher and a compassionate human being. Her distinct and mellifluous voice cuts across all artificial barriers of religion, language, age, caste, etc with her soul regaling discourses. Jai Sri Krishna! What is Srimad Bhagavatham? The Bhagavat Puranaa (also known as Srimad Bhagavatam, or simply Bhagavat) is one of the main Maha Purana texts of Hindu literature, with its primary focus on Bhakti (devotion) to Sri Krishna. The Sanskrit text comprises twelve skandhas (cantos or books) and 18,000 verses. The first nine books are about the different avatars of the Lord, while the tenth and longest book covers the pastimes of Lord Sri Krishna. The intense and personal bhakti described in the Bhagavatam is directed toward Sri Krishna as God in human form. The tenth skandha which is dedicated to Sri Krishna takes up about one quarter of the entire Bhagavatam. It is the most comprehensive collection of the pastimes of Sri Krishna, from the events leading up to his birth, to his childhood and adulthood. It includes instruction in the practice of bhakti, an analysis of bhakti, and descriptions of the different types of bhakti. The Bhagavatam takes the form of a story recounting Veda Vyasa's work being recited for the first time by his son Sukadeva to the dying King Parikshith, grandson of Arujna. Longing to hear of Sri Krishna before he dies, Parikshith listens to Sukadeva reciting the Bhagavatam over the course of seven days.
