    dehinaof the embodied; asminin this; yathas; dehein the body; kaumramboyhood;yauvanamyouth; jarold age; tathsimilarly;deha-antaraof transference of the body; prptiachievement; dhrathe sober; tatrathereupon;nanever; muhyatiis deluded.

    As the embodied soul continuouslypasses, in this body, from boyhood toyouth to old age, the soul similarlypasses into another body at death. A

    sober person is not bewildered by sucha change.

    O son of Kunt, the nonpermanent

    appearance of happiness and distress, andtheir disappearance in due course, are like theappearance and disappearance of winter andsummer seasons. They arise from senseperception, O scion of Bharata, and one mustlearn to tolerate them without beingdisturbed.

    For the soul there is neither birth nordeath at any time. He has not come intobeing, does not come into being, and willnot come into being. He is unborn, eternal,

    ever-existing and primeval. He is not slainwhen the body is slain.

    personal sense enjoyment, verily eatonly sin.

    The Supreme Personality of Godheadsaid: It is lust only, Arjuna, which is bornof contact with the material mode ofpassion and later transformed into wrath,

    and which is the all-devouring sinfulenemy of this world.

    This supreme science was thus receivedthrough the chain of disciplic succession,and the saintly kings understood it in thatway. But in course of time the succession

    was broken, and therefore the science as itis appears to be lost.

    Just try to learn the truth byapproaching a spiritual master. Inquirefrom him submissively and renderservice unto him. The self-realized souls

    can impart knowledge unto you becausethey have seen the truth.

    And of all yogs, the one with great

    faith who always abides in Me, thinks ofMe within himself, and renderstranscendental loving service to Meheis the most intimately united with Me inyoga and is the highest of all. That is Myopinion.

    Out of many thousands amongmen, one may endeavor forperfection, and of those who haveachieved perfection, hardly oneknows Me in truth.

    This knowledge is the king of

    education, the most secret of all secrets.It is the purest knowledge, and becauseit gives direct perception of the self byrealization, it is the perfection of

    religion. It is everlasting, and it isjoyfully performed.

    Those who are not faithful in thisdevotional service cannot attain Me,O conqueror of enemies. Thereforethey return to the path of birth and

    death in this material world.

    The living entity in material naturethus follows the ways of life, enjoyingthe three modes of nature. This is due tohis association with that material

    nature. Thus he meets with good andevil among various species.

    He who discards scripturalinjunctions and acts according to hisown whims attains neither perfection,nor happiness, nor the supreme

    destination.

    One who is thus transcendentally

    situated at once realizes the SupremeBrahman and becomes fully joyful. Henever laments or desires to haveanything. He is equally disposed toward

    every living entity. In that state heattains pure devotional service unto Me.

    One can understand Me as I am, asthe Supreme Personality of Godhead,only by devotional service. And whenone is in full consciousness of Me bysuch devotion, he can enter into thekingdom of God.
