College Ambassadors Campaign Haeun LeeGraduate Assistant, the College of Arts and Sciences Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

Hello everyone, I am Haeun. I am a graduate assistant in the college of arts and sciences philanthropy and alumni engagement office. I really wanted to meet you all in person, but I couldnt make it today so I will talk to you through this screen. This presentation is about campaigns that you will work on during the semester. At the end of the presentation, I hope you have a great understanding of College ambassadors Campaign. Without further ado, lets start!1

Overview

ObjectCreate an impact on other students by sharing their relevant stories that would build student engagement and pride in UBIncrease the awareness of programs, and departments as well as career possibilities in CASUtilize Instagram to connect students, CAS and UB.

College Ambassadors Campaignl Object l 09.02.16

The reason why I thought of this campaign is that we basically wanted to engage students/young alumni to the campus-more specifically college of arts and sciences lifethrough social media. I hope through this campaign, you could have more connection with students, faculties and campus services. Also, as our office deals with alumni engagement, we thought we can bridge students to alumni so that students can get insights, and practical tips regarding their studies and lives. 3

OutcomesAs a result of the campaign:Students will develop an awareness of programs, departments and career optionsCAS will have an opportunity to increase its department awareness/recognition through student participationStudents can get a practical opportunity to ask about their future career and it will help them to identify a professionStudents will go out into the community and make connections with fellow students, and professors

College Ambassadors Campaignl Outcomes l 09.02.16

Again, I dont want this campaign to be extra work or burden for you during the semester. Please use this opportunity to explore your careers, involve to the community and apply academic learnings to practical lives.4

Share Your CAS Story

September campaign

There are total three campaigns and you will be given a different theme every month starting from September to November. 5

Share your CAS storyAsk yourselvesHow did you grow your interests in your study? What made you decide your major? What do you like the most about your program or department? What was your difficulties/obstacles and how did you overcome?

OrDescribe your study in 3-5 words.Find objects/moments that describe your study well.College Ambassadors Campaignl Share Your CAS Story l 09.02.16

The first theme which you will work on during September, is Share your CAS story. Its pretty a self-explanatory theme, but here is the list of questions that will help you to come up with the contents. How did you grow your interests in your study,. .6

Example

Here is my example. (click the video) like this, you can make a video or you can just take a photo of yourself and write down your story. If you are thinking to take a video, dont forget to record it within 60 seconds as there is a video lengths limit on Instagram. Actually I thought the limit is 15 seconds that is why I made a short videobut you can say more if 15 seconds is not enough for you to express yourselves. 7

Share the Quote

October campaign

Next, the second theme is Share the quote 9

Share the quoteAs you study, listen to the lecture or work with students as a teamTake a photo or record a video of what you learned. It can be new to you, interesting thing to know, or you liked a lot!

Relate those lessons to big questions such asWhat is the most important lessons that you learned in college? How you can apply this to your daily life?

College Ambassadors Campaignl Share the Quote l 09.02.16

What does that mean? As you study. (between the first and the second paragraphs: As a further step) Relate ~. Again, I will show you my example in the next slide. 10

Example

(click the video). The format itself is similar to the first campaign: you can shoot the video or you can post the photo with captions. Photos can be the text book, your note, and readings, your classroom and your team members. I think if you are planning to upload the classroom photo with lecturer, I recommend to get a permit from your lecturer just to be a safe. 11

Careers in CAS

November campaign

Finally, our last theme of the fall semester! As you explored how you got interested in your study, some of the things that you learned while studying, it is time to get practical experiences in relation of the future career. 13

Careers in CASIf you/your friends have any questions about your future career, take a photo of those questions or shoot a video and email it to Caitlin.

You will get advice from alumni volunteers via social media. Please share these posts to your account so that other students who have similar questions can get answers.

Example

For this themes example, I invited my supervisor, Tom. As I did, you can take a picture of your questions and send them to Caitlin or you can directly send email to her. And once we reached out to alumni volunteers and if they answered, we will upload on Instagram like this example. I asked him When should I start searching the job in senior year? lets watch how he answered to this question! I hope this answer also helped you!15

First, as I said, take a photo or make a video up to 60 seconds according to the theme. Important thing here is that you should add the hashtag; #ubuffalo and #ubcas. It will help other students to find the official CAS account and see more if they want. If you dont have an Instagram account, I recommend you to make one. If you hate the social media, or theres some reasons that you cant use your account, then please send contents to my email account. You will see my email account at the end of the slides. Second, post the contents on Instagram. Third, share with others by using your friends handle or by just letting other know.18

College Ambassadors Campaignl Campaign Format l 09.02.16

In terms of the Careers in CAS campaign, as you have to send your questions along to Caitlin or me, steps are a bit different than previous campaigns. Which is good because what you have to do is just ask and when we upload the post you can just share the post.19
