INTRODUCTION

RAJA NAZAR MUHMMAD JANJUA

• He was born in 1910 (Tehsil Wazirabad, District

Gujranwala, Punjab)

• Masters in economics from the Government College

Lahore

• Worked for the Radio in India , Voice of America and

United Nations.

• Rebelled against the traditional form of ghazal

• first major exemplar of free verse in Urdu literature

• His body was cremated after his death in a London

hospital in 1975

EDGAR ALLAN POE• An American writer born on January 19, 1809, and died

on October 7, 1849.

• He was a magazine editor a poet, a short story writer, a

critic, and a lecturer

• He joined the United States Army In 1827

• Lifelong struggle with depression and alcoholism

• Died of “acute congestion of the brain” in

October ,1849

• Remembered as one of the first American writers to

become a major figure in world literature.

یہ جھیل وہ ہے کہ جس کے اوپر•

سمندروں پر جہاز رانوں کا میں کنارا•

• The researcher tried to find out the different

reasons for suicidal tendencies in writer and

found that:

• Intellectual curiosity and philosophical

adventurism

• Idealistic approach towards life and

disillusionment

• Emotional Sensitivity, Isolation and Spiritual

fragility

• Pakistani writers followed west in this regard as

they followed their literary traditions

• Some Urdu poets didn’t commit suicide but

unconsciously they manifested their suicidal

thoughts in their poetry
