Oh Rama of Raghu Dynasty! You are adorned with a beautiful garland of Tulasi Dalas. You are endowed with noble qualities like patience and forgiveness. You are well known in all the three worlds for your valour. You are the destroyer of Kabandha the supposedly invincible demon. (Chanting of) Your name ferries people of the world across the sea of sins. Oh Dasaradhi of Bhadrachala! Oh Ocean of compassion!

రసభయళసఱ యకభీ రసజిత భాయగళరసభ శదగ ణ స్తా భ రసంగనాయభుఖ శళిత కసభ యనీఱ నీయద ళసయభ కకుత్సళంఴ కఱళసంబుధిస్తభ శరసరిదోయభఱో దాా భ యరసభ బదిగిరి దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ! ||2||

O Rama! With your valour you vanquished Parasurama. You are the embodiment of good qualities. You do not have any amorous attitude towards other women. You have a complexion similar to that of the dark clouds of the sky. You are like a moon to the sea of Kakuthsa Dynasty. You scared the Rakshasas by your valour. Oh Son of Dasaradha! Oh Ocean of Kindness!

You are ever truthful. You protect those who seek refuge in you. Your river of kindness washes away the sins of people. You make the Brahmins happy. Ganga, which sanctifies the three worlds, has originated in your feet. You are effulgent with jewels made of sparkling Ratnas.

యంగదరసత్రబంగ, ఖగ రసజతుయంగ, యతపయంర్ తుా ంగ తభఃతంగ, రి త్ోఴహతయంగ, దమాంతయంగ శ తసంగ ధరసతమజా షఽదమ స్సయశబఽంగ నిళసచరసఫజభా తంగ, యభాంగ, బదిగిరి దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిథీ ||4||

You have vanquished your enemies. Garuda transports you everywhere like a horse. You are like a Sun for those devotees whose mental horizon is darkened by worries and perils. You made Ranganadha happy. You are full of kindness. You are surrounded by pious people. You are like a brhamara (large black carpenter bee) for Seeta's lotus heart. You are a terror to the Rakshasas. You have a noble personality.

Out of greed I dedicated my poetic works to wicked people and was deceived. It was like buying Regu fruits by giving away pearls. Please grant piety to my tongue and sweetness to my poems by treating my tongue as a stage and by dancing there.

శ్రీయభణీమహాయ మతవ కుశభాబఴరీయ, బకా భం దాయ, యకసయదయ, యతతావయహాయ త్రిఱోక చఛతనో ధ్ా్ య, దయంత నుసతక యత్ాన యదయ, ఖరసది ద ైతయకసం త్ాయ కుఠసయ బదిగిరి దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ.||8||

You wear resplendent necklaces. The complexion of your body is like that of Avisa flowers. You are like a kalpa vrisha (wishtree) to the devotees. You are unaffected by things or events. You are immersed in paratatwa. You nurture all the living beings in the three worlds. You wash away the sins. You are like an axe to the the forest of khara and other Rakshasas.

You are like a sickle for cutting the creeper plant of sins. You are like fire to the forest of Khara and Dushana. You are adept in protecting the Earth. You are capable of releasing us from the shackles of the worldly existence. Your eyes are like a beautiful blossoming lotus. Your story is full of piety. Your complexion is akin to that of dark clouds.

Your name scorches the sea of sins like fire (badabagni) and it is like a rain of amritha for the rising fire of sufferings. It is like the sharp edge of an axe for destroying the forest of bad religious traditions.

In old age when the messengers of Yama are waiting outside and aggravating diseases cause kapham(phlegm) to choke my voice and I am surrounded by relatives, I do not know whether I will be in a position to pray. Therefore let me pray now itself.

O Treasure house of compassion! I will wear the dust of the feet (paadadhuli) of the great devotees who always chant ‘pathitha pavana nama ‘ ‘parama dayanidhe’ and 'Hari'. It appears that Yama has instructed his messengers to keep away from such people.

షయౌకునకున్ షఱాగభీున నయథభు వేకుయుబంగి దహపచఛ నఱభట్ జెందలసనికూ శరసగఱో జఱ భనృునట్లి ద యమయౌన భనోయకసరినగు భయుా యని ననొుడగూరిి నీయన్ దఱు ఘట్ింజేవహత్రయ దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ! ||22||

Like a person discovering unexpected treasure while ploughing his land and a thirsty man suddenly finding the water of Ganga, a person like me with mind polluted by evil thoughts discovered the unexpected bliss of devotion to you.

However I have been fortunate to get hold of that Treasure by the simple expedient of an anjana (eyesalve) called Bhakti. Please reside in my heart.

రసభుఁడు ఘోయ నుసతక యరసభుడు శదగ ణకఱపళయిౌకస రసభుడువడ్ుాకసయజమ రసభుడు స్సధజనాళనళిత్ో ధ్ా్ భుఁడు రసభుడ్ఛ యభ ద ైళభు భాకని భూ మడుంగు గెం దాభయఱే బుజించ దన దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ||24||

Rama is the liberator from sins ; kalpa vriksha of virtues ; conquerer of the shadgunas / six weaknesses and protector of the pious people. O Rama! I consider You as the prime deity and worship Your Lotus Feet.

'రస' కఱువంఫుఱెఱి ఫమఱంఫడదోిచిన 'భా'క లసట్మె ైడ్ీకొనిఫరి చనికి భనిధీముతుఱెనుఁదదీమ ళయణభుల్ గైెకొని బకూా చఛ నడుళఁగసనయు గసక యతపయంయల్ దాకొననే జగజజనఱ దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ||26||

When you pronounce 'RA' you open the mouth completely and all the sins are expelled through your mouth. When you pronounce 'MA' both the lips are closed and fresh sins are prevented from entering your body. This was told by the great Elders many times but laymen ignore this and invite easily preventable sufferings.

These days’ people hanker over sugar packets, the lips of a woman and honey made by bees and fail to relish the nectarine juice of of the name of Rama.

Please don't treat me as an undeserving person and lend me your helping hand.

It is impossible to wash away my innumerable sins. What will Chitragupta write? What punishment will Yama impose? What kind of violence will be inflicted by messengers of Yama on me? You showered your compassion on her. Is Guha a servant of your servant? You blessed him by allowing him to serve you. What sin have I committed? I have only been praying you. Please accept me as one of your devout servants.

The dust of Your Lotus Feet transformed a stone into a woman. If Brahma and other deities are also not able to praise you, how can a mere mortal like me comprehend your greatness?

కౌత్రకూఴకయభా మశయకౌట్లఱ గెఱాన గసఱెిఫర నిజం ఫాతనిమేన శ్రతకయుడ్ౌట్ దలసనఱు డ్ ట్ిటయంత? భా వతత్రళిత్ా భశిభవేళకు భాగయభుభూకట్ాక్షభున్ ధాతకు ఴకయభా నుొగడ దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ||62|| Is it possible for a monkey to vanquish Rakshasa warriors? Even if you concede this, how is it that he is unaffected by fire when they tried to burn his tail? This was only possible because of the Pathivratya of Seeta and your grace for the service rendered by him. Is it possible even for Brahma to praise you?

నీశషజంఫు స్సత్రాకభు నీయడ్ుట్లట శధాయోధి, దామశనడ్ాతమజుండు, గభఱాఱమనీ హిమురసఱు నీకు వహం హాశనభుద్రిత్రి; గొడుగసక శభక్షుఱు చందిఫాశియుల్ నీశభతఱపభాదిపణి నీల శభశాభు గొయౌినట్ిట నీ దాశఱ భాగయమెట్ిటదమ దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ||64|| You are gentle, amiable and kind (satwika). Your abode is the Celestial Sea of Milk. Brahma is your son. Lakshmi is your consort. The Earth is your throne. The sky is your umbrella. The Sun and Moon are your eyes. Adisesha is your bed of flowers. You are omnipresent. How fortunate are your devotees!

Just by the very touch of your feet a stone was transformed into a woman. You caused hills to float on the sea (while going to Lanka). When such miracles have taken place, there is nothing surprising in your devotees attaining Salvation.

When I am visualising you as Mother, Father, Grandfather, Guru and Friend, bad thoughts are trying to disturb the harmony of my mind. O Jagatpavanamurty! Dispel those bad thoughts and save me.

Whatever good or bad you have done knowingly or unknowingly will have their consequences. Ten thousand will be enough for this life. I am your servant. Please bless me.

శరిజనల్ దమాయుఱు శనఽతలసద ఱఱుఫ్భానళుల్ యయత్రిత్ాంగనఱు యుు ఱు గ్ళుఱు లేదభుల్ భశీ భాయభుదాఱపగస జనఱు నుసళనమెైన ర్కసయ శ త్ాియ మెరంగుఱే యకట్ దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ! ||68|| Scholars, Kind-hearted people, truth-speaking people, nongreedy people, Pativratas, Brahmins, Cows and Vedas are carrying the burden of Earth. But the human beings do not show gratefulness to them. What a pity!

కయభనయ కూాభందయభు గళాభుగస నశిరసజుదాి డుగస దొయకొని దఛళదానళుఱు దగ్యోధిభథించచనుచో ధయణిచయౌంఱోకభుఱు తఱిడభందగ గూయమమెై ధరస ధయభు ధరించితీలకద దాఴయథీ కయుణాయోనిధీ||70|| When the Devas and Rakshasas used Mandara mountain as a churning rod ( kavvam) for churning of the Celestial Sea of Milk with Vasuki as the churning rope, the Earth trembled and all the people were getting agitated. At that time, with great benevolence you assumed the shape of a tortoise and bore the weight of the Earth.

Reciting your name is the source of happiness. It is like a goading rod for the elephant of infatuation for worldly objects. It is like a bank for storing your money. It fulfills all desires. It is the first step in the spiritual path and the guiding force for overcoming the enemies in time. It ferries us across the sea of adversity.

A person who has conquered sense organs due to his devotion to Hari is the best. A person who tries to conquer the sense organs is second best. A person who is a slave of sense organs is the worst kind. I belong to the third category. Please save me with benevolence.

An elephant is ambushed by its temptation for touching the skin of another elephant. A fish is caught by its weakness for the taste of the bait at the end of the fishing rod. The snakes are trapped by the sound of a snake charmer's trumpet. The deers are snared by their tendency to move towards light. Holy bee /black carpenter (Bhramara) is enticed by the fragrance of flowers. Please save me from the temptations of the sensory organs. (All the above are trapped from the temptations of touch, tongue, ears, eyes and nose respectively)

Let our hands do obeisances to you ; let our eyes feast the sight of your handsome face ; let our tongue chant your sacred name ; let our ears listen to your glorious tales ; let our nose enjoy the fragrance of the garlands adorning you. Let me use these five sense organs to pursue the spiritual path.
