Admiral Farragut Academy seeks School Counselor
POSITION OVERVIEW: Admiral Farragut Academy seeks an energetic, thoughtful, compassionate, flexible and organized School Counselor who has direct experience in a school setting . The position starts in August 2018 and reports to the Director of Counseling and College Placement. NOTE: Evening hours will be required.
ABOUT ADMIRAL FARRAGUT ACADEMY: Admiral Farragut Academy is a private preparatory school with small classes, a waterfront campus and a progressive approach to education . Located in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida, Admiral Farragut Academy is situated about 5 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico.
KEY COMPONENTS OF THE JOB: ● Educate students and parents about college
and career options ● Help students and families select colleges
that are best matched for their student ● Submit letters of recommendation, complete
school reports, and send transcripts for students as they apply to college
● Provide classroom guidance regarding career and college counseling
● Provide personal counseling to students
● Work with outside psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors (setting up appointments, meeting to discuss a plan of action, working with the parents)
● Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
● Maintain student confidentiality as is appropriate in a school setting
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in School Counseling or Mental Health.
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 35 years experience, including working in a school setting with students from different backgrounds, cultures, and academic needs. Experience using Naviance is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: ● Ability to work evening hours ● Ability to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance ● Ability to pass a drug screen ● Legal authorization to work in the U.S. ● Within 60 days of hire, complete online course Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse
