PREFACE

Naturopathic medical system is rooted in the healing wisdom of many cultures and times.

The principles and practices of Naturopathy are integrated into the lifestyle of Indians

which continues to grow and evolve, incorporating elements that advances the

knowledge of the mechanisms of natural healing and therapeutics. Naturopathy is a cost

effective drugless non-invasive healing system. imparting treatments with natural

elements based on the theory of vitality, toxemia, self-healing capacity of the body and

the principles of healthy living.Naturopathy has been evolved as an independent health

care system accepted worldwide.

The National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) is located at a historical place called “Bapu

Bhavan” situated at Matoshree Ramabai Ambedkar Road (Tadiwala Road), Pune – 411001.

It was run as “Nature Cure Clinic and Sanatorium” by late Dr. Dinshaw K. Mehta. During

this time Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for 156 days on different occasions. “All India

Nature Cure Foundation Trust” was established in this Centre and Mahatma Gandhi

became its lifetime Chairman and conducted many National and International activities

while staying here. NIN is registered under the Societies Registration Act., 1860 at New

Delhi on 27th September, 1984 and came into existence on 22-12-1986 with the aims and

objectives to propagate and promote Naturopathy and Yoga, to provide treatment

facilities for all kinds of diseases through Naturopathy and Yoga, to conduct research and

training and to establish a living Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.Besides this, the objectives

also includes “in general, to fulfill the objects laid down by Mahatma Gandhi for the

formation of the All India Nature Cure Foundation Trust, namely the establishment of a

Nature Cure University towards the attainment of which the first step would be to develop

the said Nature Cure Clinic and Sanatorium as the nucleus and the apex institution of the

National Institute of Naturopathy with the object of creating from it a Nature Cure

University – which was one of the main objectives of Mahatma Gandhi in forming the said

Trust”.

During the year 2017-18, the Institute has extended its multifaceted in-house activities like Naturopathy OPD clinic /Day care IPD facility, where about three hundred patients are treated daily; eight regular yoga classes; therapeutic yoga (one to one for patients) section, health shop where organic health products free from chemicals are made available, treatment equipment and books on Naturopathy and Yoga in Marathi, Hindi and English are sold; Library with home lending as well as reading room facility for the public, Naturopathy Diet Centre where healthy food is served to the general public. Outreach activities like OPD clinic and Naturopathy treatment facilities at Ace Hospital, Pune are available. Organising Food Exhibitions, Naturopathy and Yoga Workshops, Seminars, lectures, Yoga demonstration, etc. for women’s group and other general public in private and Govt. organizations, schools, colleges, etc. NIN has a new well equipped with fully automated analyzers pathology lab, established in the premises of this Institute. Well-equipped Medi-Gym is available for the patients and general public on the basis of membership and Free Hydro-Reflexology track for rejuvenation is also available. NIN is running a sanatorium exclusively for HIV+ve individuals at Panchagani, Dist. Satara, Maharashtra, with intake facility of 20 patients. Patients undergoing Naturopathy and Yoga treatment are able to improve their quality of life to a great extent.

NIN publishes a bilingual monthly magazine ‘NisargopacharVarta’ in Hindi and English with articles on different diseases, Naturopathy treatment modalities, Healthy diet and food recipes, etc. which is highly appreciated by the readers. NIN has brought out 2ndEdition of the book “Naturopathy Food Concepts” on Naturopathic diet and recipes which was highly preferred by the public.NIN Published a handbook on Basic Yoga for Beginners, a book on Food Thoughts and Chronic Inflammatory Disorders. Published IEC materials like a book on Nisargopachar-Paddhati, Naisargick Ahaar, Swasthya and Yoga, Effects of Naturopathy and Yoga intervention on CD4 count of the individuals receiving Antiretroviral therapy report from a Human Immuno Deficiency Virus Sanatorium, Pune, etc. for free distribution. NIN has prepared a VCD on activities of the Institute. One full day workshop quarterly with demonstration of procedures on different diseases for general public in different Regional languages i.e., Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Sindhi, etc. NIN conducts One Year Treatment Assistant Training Course (TATC) with intake capacity of 80 students with a monthly stipend of Rs.5000/- per head. NIN is providing Internship Training to BNYS graduates from different Naturopathy Colleges in India. NIN organizes Continuous Medical Education (C.M.E.) programmes and Research Methodology (R.M.) workshops for Naturopathy graduates and Orientation Training Programmes(OTP) for doctors of other systems of medicine. Ten such programmes of C.M.E./OTP/RM and four Women Empowerment Programmes were conducted during the year 2016-17. NIN participates in Arogya Exhibition organized by Ministry of AYUSH from time to time. During the reported year NIN participated in Arogya Exhibitions at Delhi, Indore, Chennai and Rajasthan. NIN participated in other exhibitions which include Pune, Delhi and Bhubaneswar. NIN, Pune celebrated the 3rd International Day of Yoga on Tuesday, 21stJune, 2017 by organizing various programmes intending to spread the importance of Yoga which includes Mass Yoga Session followed by various Yogic Asanas as per AYUSH Protocol like Standing Postures: Taadaasan, Vrikshaasan, Pada-Hastaasana, ArdhaChakraasana, Sitting Postures like; Vajrasana, Shashankaasan, Vakraasana etc. Kapaalabhaati, Pranayama and various other yogic exercises were performed by the participants, staff, students, officers and dignitaries, Krida yoga and Zumba dance, etc. at NIN campus as well as at different Institutions, Organizations, Schools, Colleges, in and around Pune, intending to spread the importance of Yoga and to create awareness among the public. Around 3000 people across Pune and Panchgani were covered during these celebrations.

NIN has Conducted two days NNFF 2018 from 17th to 18th Feb 2018 at Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri. M.D. Mohamood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana in the presence of Shri. C. Laxma Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Govt.of Telangana, Dr. Rajendra Reddy, Director of AYUSH, Govt.of Telangana and Shri. B. Venkatesham, IAS, Secretary, Govt.of Telangana Youth Advancement, Tourism, Cultural & Backward Classes Welfare Department. Followed by the above programme they visited 50 Healthy foods & Organic product stalls. The Valedictory Function was held at 4.00PM on 18th Feb 2018. Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest. Shri. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & co-operation, Horticulture Sericulture, Seeds Corporation, Govt. of Telangana, Shri. C. Laxma Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Govt.of Telangana, were the Guest of Honour along with Dr. Rajendra Reddy, Director of AYUSH, Govt.of Telangana and Shri. Mamidi Hari Krishna, Director, dept. of Language and Culture, Govt.of Telangana. During this two-day event, NIN, has, put stall of free health check-up, demonstration of cold press oil and various recipes on natural food preparation, like various juices, salads, herbal tea,

etc. Participants and general public were given Nisargopachar Varta, and IEC materials free of cost for promotion and propagation of various healthy habits, treatments. Around 40,000 general public and students visited the stalls during these two days Food exhibitions. NIN organizes “Cookery Classes” every year at the institute. Preparation of variety of juices, salads, non-spicy oil free sabjies and main course food items are taught in these classes with demonstration and with full participation of the participants. During the year two such classes were conducted at NIN and around Pune city. The Institute observed Hindi Pakhwada in the month of September,2017 was observed from

Sept. 1st to 15th by this Institute during the reported year. During the Pakhwada different

competitions like Antakshari, Speech, Essay Writing and Hindi ShrutLekhan among the Staff,

Doctors and Students were organized. Hindi Workshop on Noting and Drafting was

conducted by Shri Rajendra Varma, Asst. Director, Hindi Teaching Scheme, among the Staff,

Doctors and Trainees to encourage maximum usage of Hindi in office work and general

communication besides observing regularly Gandhi Jayanti-Naturopathy Day, Vigilance

Awareness Week, Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, EktaDiwas, Sadbhavana Diwas, Ayushman

Bharat Camp, etc.

1. Position of Staff of NIN: Total staff strength of NIN is 22 as under:

The Institutional in-house and outreach multifaceted Clinical activities, various programmes are increasing and being managed with the help of 22 sanctioned staff strength and 66 other contractual staff working through outsourcing agency which includes Jr. Naturopaths, Consultants, DEOs, Clinical Attendants, maintenance and Security staff, etc.

2. Objectives :

To conduct, provide, facilitate and encourage research in all aspects concerning human health and in all fields of Naturopathy,

To impart and provide facilities for encouraging training in all fields of Naturopathy and / or combination therapy,

To provide and encourage facilities for all kinds of treatments in all fields of Naturopathy and / or Combination Therapy,

To provide and encourage facilities for standardization and propagation of the existing knowledge and its application,

To establish a living Memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation,

To preserve in the said ‘Nature Cure Clinic and Sanatorium at Bapu Bhavan, Pune, with due sanctity, all the structures, articles, things and equipment associated with and / or personally used by Mahatma Gandhi,

In general, to fulfill the objects of establishment of a Nature Cure University.

4. Awareness Programmes Conducted in 2017- 18:

The Institute has conducted in-house and outreach awareness programmes among the general public to impart knowledge about basic principles of Naturopathy, various Naturopathy treatment modalities and Yogic methods through practical demonstrations. A number of Naturopathy Health Education Workshops, Seminars, lectures relating to Naturopathy and Yogic therapy on Chronic diseases viz, Arthritis, Diabetes, Obesity, Asthma, Hypertension, Renal disorders, Skin diseases, Cancer, Migraine, etc. were conducted during the current year. Naturopathy and Yoga propagation and promotion was also done by participating in Arogya and other Exhibitions and by conducting Health Food Fairs and by celebrating International Day of Yoga as per AYUSH protocol of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India for the masses.

6. Financial Position: Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India released Grant-In-Aid of Rs 514.00 Lakhs to the Institute for the year 2017-18 under Plan scheme to undertake various multifaceted Naturopathy and Yoga Promotional Programmes, capital assets i.e. for ‘Nisarg Gram’ – (to establish of Naturopathy Hospital (250 beds), Medical College (UG/PG/PG Diploma/ Fellowship/PhD/Para. Med. Courses), Research Unit and Gandhi memorial) and towards salaries and wages and to meet the expenditure on overheads.

7. Standing Finance Committee (S.F.C.):

1. 31st Standing Finance Committee Meeting of NIN, Pune was held under the

Chairmanship of Shri P. N. Ranjit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India on 15th November, 2017 at AYUSH Bhavan, New Delhi.

2. 32nd Standing Finance Committee Meeting of NIN, Pune was held under the

Chairmanship of Shri P. N. Ranjit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India on 7th March, 2018 at AYUSH Bhavan, New Delhi.

8. Institutional Multifaceted Activities:

(i) Modern Naturopathy OPD/IPD Clinic: The Institute is providing free OPD

consultation and provide treatments at a nominal fee of Rs.500/- per week for

various diseases. People with low socio economic status are treated at

concessional rate or free of charge. NIN started 10 Bedded (5M/5F) IPD day care

facility within the campus of the Institute.

Dadaji Dr. Dinshaw Mehta Memorial OPD OPD Consultation, NIN Total 64115 patients were treated and a sum of Rs 83,32,318/- was received during the year under report. (ii) Yoga Classes: Eight yoga classes are conducted every day in the premises of this Institute. Therapeutic Yoga Section: NIN conducted Therapeutic Yoga Section and this new facility at NIN offered Therapeutic (one to one) Yoga to the deserving patients. Annual attendance in these classes was 1978.

(iii) Monthly (Hindi/English) Magazine ‘NISARGOPACHAR Varta’: NIN publishes a bilingual monthly magazine in Hindi and English “Nisargopachar Varta”. Articles on naturopathy, yoga, healthy food, longevity, natural way of living, prevention and cure of diseases, by eminent authors are published, which enhances the reader’s knowledge to have health self-sufficiency as advocated by Mahatma Gandhi. All the regular subscribers receive the magazine every month and eminent persons of Govt. offices are provided with complimentary copies. 13 issues were published during the reported year.

(iv) Health Shop: The Health Food items, Health products, Treatment equipment and Naturopathy & Yoga Books were sold through NIN health shop. Total sales receipt amounted to Rs.43,15,992/- and 18728 visitors are benefitted in the current year.

(v) Library: NIN’s Library offers home lending as well as reading room facility for the public. There are more than 9300 books, magazines, journals and bulletins in the library on Naturopathy, Yoga and other health related subjects. Students,

faculty and general public and Researchers from other institutes utilize academic section of the library. About 14123 visitors including regular members, readers, students, doctors, staff, etc. have availed this facility during the current year.

(vi) House Surgeoncy: 56 Bachelor in Naturopathy and Yogic Science internees of different Naturopathy colleges were given rotatory internship training under this programme during the reported year. The stipend paid to each Internee @ Rs.5000/- per month. (vii) One Year Naturopathy Treatment Assistant Training Course(TATC): The Course commence every year w.e.f. 1st July. The stipend @ Rs. 5,000/- per month per student was paid. Annual Admission capacity was of 80 (40 Female/40 Male) students and total 80 undergone the above course during the current year. (viii) Monthly Workshop: The Institute conducted “one day workshop” on various Health regiment/ diseases, on last Saturday of every month. A registration fee of Rs.70/- was charged from the participants. Naturopathic Lunch and Juices, Copies of magazine ‘Nisargopachar Varta’ and treatment equipment “Enema Can” to the needy, were distributed free of cost. Total 12 such workshops were conducted during the reported year. (ix) Monthly Workshop in Regional Languages: Monthly workshops were conducted in various regional languages like Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Odiya, Bengali and Sindhi on every quarter on "Human Health and Life Style". During the reported year 2 such free workshops in Malayalam and Marwadi were conducted at NIN. Copies of Nisargopachar Varta sssssssssand treatment equipment “Enema Can” to the needy, were also distributed free of cost. About 100 persons participated in each workshop. It is a one-full day workshop where participants are given orientation on health awareness, Naturopathy and Yoga principles. They are served a wholesome Naturopathy meal during the program. (x) Naturopathic Diet Centre: A Naturopathic Diet Centre is being managed on self sustainable basis in the premises of NIN from the year 2006. Healthy Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Juices, Fruit and Vegetable Salads are provided in the centre at reasonable rates. Total sales receipt amounted to Rs.33,72,980/- in the current year. About 5945 visitors, patients, etc. were benefitted during the current year.

(xi) Sanatorium for HIV+ve (OPD/IPD): NIN is managing a sanatorium for HIV+ve individuals at Panchagani, Dist. Satara, Maharashtra. During the current year. 35 patients were treated and got benefitted.

(xii) Publication of Rare Text Books on Naturopathy: The Institute re-published 'Rational Hydrotherapy', a rare text book by Dr. J. H. Kellogg (USA) and made available for sale.

(xiii) Naturopathy Diet and Recipe Book –A Cookery book published by the Institute containing more than 200 delicious recipes of Juices, Soups, Hot Beverages, Salads, Chutneys, Oven Dishes, Naturopathic Deserts, etc.

(xiv) Yoga Hand Book: Published a Hand Book on Basic Yoga for Beginners.

(xv) Video Films: NIN has prepared aVCD on Naturopathy treatment modalities, various diseases and activities of the Instituteand being sold throughthe Health Shop.

Hydrotherapy, Musculoskeletal Disorders & Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders, Naturopathic Medicine in India, Fasting, Inflammation, Yoga, Heal pain, Mud therapy, Blood pressure, Fasting and Diabetes) of NIN have been published in various National and International Indexed Journals during the reported year :

(xxi) Acupressure Clinic: Free Acupressure Treatment is given to the patients on Tuesday and Friday between 2 to 5 p.m. About 1934 patients were benefitted annually.

(xviii) Medi Gym.: As part of its treatment facility for the patients especially with neuro-

muscular problems and arthritis a Medi Gym is being maintained at the Institute. It is

also attracting large number of youngsters and the membership has grown beyond 100

per month/ during the reported year. Total receipt amounted to Rs. 5,46,300/- in the

current year and about 762 members got benefitted during the reported year.

(xix) Acupuncture Section: NIN has an acupuncture unit where the treatment is

available at the rate of Rs.300 and Rs.70/- for weekly and daily sitting respectively.

(xx)Pathology Lab: NIN has a state of art pathology lab equipped with fully automated analyzers for all the routine tests and special tests like HIV test, CD4 count, Tridot, Spirometry etc. at very nominal rates for the public. Total receipt during the reported year were Rs.55,523/- in the current year and about 540 patients availed the lab. facility during the reported year.

9. Continuous Medical Education Programme (C.M.E./O.T.P./R.M.): -

1. NIN Conducted 2 day Continuing Medical Education on “Philosophy and Basics of

Naturopathy & Natural Hygiene, Opportunities and avenues globally for

Naturopaths” on 12th -14th April 2017, for the house surgeons from various

Naturopathy and Yoga medical college across India. Total no of participants were

98.

2. Conducted a Re-orientation programme on ““New Trends and Scientific

understanding of Nutrition in Naturopathy” for the non- professionally qualified

naturopaths on 30th March 2017 at Nature cure and Yogic Sciences, Bhosari,Pune

, Total no of participants were 112.

3. NIN in its premises conducted National Symposium on Gandhi Health on 2nd

October’ 2017 and 2 days CME on EDTA Chelation Therapy and Ozone

Therapy on 3rd and 4th October’ 2017.

4. NIN conducted one day CME on Naturopathy Diagnostics Methods at MSR

Arogyalayam, Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh on 2nd October’ 2017.

5. NIN Conducted the 2nd Naturopathy Conclave programme from 14th -16th Dec

2017at Lonavala. 45 Naturopathy and Yoga doctors from different generation

participated in this event which brought out therapeutic consensus on naturopathy

therapies like fasting, hydrotherapy/mud therapy, heliotherapy/ chromo therapy and

Naturopathy diagnostic methods.

6. Dr. Jyoti Kumbhar deputed to Hyderabad to conduct Two days ‘Acupuncture

Orientation Program’ at GNMC, Hyderabad on 21st & 22nd December 2017. NIN

invited Dr.Sreedhar Pulipati, Dr.Ravikumar as a resource person for this programme.

As per the schedule the programme was conducted and around 120 students and

internees were attended this orientation programme and participation certificates

issued to all.

10. Women Empowerment Programme Organized by NIN, Pune:-

1. Dr. Santoshi did “Free consultation and life style management through naturopathy and Yoga” for ladies of Punya Dham society , Nagar Road, Kharadi, Pune on 16th Oct 2017. Total no of participants were 46.

2. NIN conducted 3 days CME on Women’s Health Conversion of Traditional and

Modern Medical Practices at Jai Hind Nature Cure Centre, Lonavala from 21st to

23rd September 2017. Total Participants were 60.

3. NIN conducted one day workshop on “Women’s Health” on 24-03-2018. Dr. Jyoti

Kumbhar delivered talk on naturopathic management and Dr. Seema took

session on Diet and Nutrition for Women’s Problems.Dr. Anupama took one hour

practical session for General health through yoga. Total numbers of participants

were 36 nos.

4. A monthly free one day workshop was conducted on “Women’s Health through

Naturopathy and Yoga” on 28-10-2017. Dr. Rhutika delivered talk on Diet and

Nutrition for women’s Health and Dr. Santoshi explained about Management of

Maintaining Health though Naturopathy and Yoga. Total numbers of participants

were 78 nos.

5. Workshop on “Women’s Health through Naturopathy and Yoga” on 19-11-2017 at ACE hospital, Erwandane Dr. Jai Mahajan delivered talk on women’s problem which women’s facing these days and explained about causes and complication and prevention through naturopathy and yoga. Total numbers of participants were 20 nos.

11. Seminars/ Workshops:

1. In the month of April a camp on “Reduce weight naturally” from 1st to 30th April 2017 was conducted Total 30 patients (17 female and 13 males) registered and underwent treatment.

2. A monthly workshop for the month of April was held on the 29th April 2017 at NIN, Pune. The topic was “Summer Retreat”. Total 16 participants were present for it. Dr. Pranav co-ordinated the workshop.

3. NIN organized a camp on “Heart and circulatory disorders” during the month of May 2017. Total 25 patients registered and underwent treatment.

4. In the month of May camp on “Management of Diabetes” from 1st to 30th June 2017 was conducted, Total 40 patients registered and underwent treatment.

5. NIN conducted a camp on “Stress Management” from 1st to 31st July 2017 and the same continued in the august month . Total 40 patients registered and underwent treatment.

6. A monthly camp conducted on “Stress Management” from 1st to 31st August 2017. Total 49 patients registered and underwent treatment.

7. Dr. Jyoti Kumbhar delivered lecture on “Healthy Lifestyle” at Nistyasha School on 12th August 2017 at NIN. Total participants were 102.

8. NIN conducted one day workshop on “Health Ageing through Naturopathy and Yoga” on 23-09-2017. Dr. Amal Roshan delivered talk on Mind Body Medicine and. Dr. Pranav explained about Naturopathy and Yogic Management of Health Ageing. Total numbers of participants were 19 nos.

9. NIN conducted a camp on “Stress Management” from 1st to 30th September 2017. Total 32 patients registered and underwent treatment.

10. NIN conducted one day workshop on “ HIV awareness programme “on 4th

Dec 2017 Dr. Dhananjay Arankalle delivered lecture on Aims, Objective and

results of HIV sanatorium Panchagani, after that Dr. Vijay Nema from NAARI

talked on Naturopathy and its treatment modalities for the HIV. There were

21 participants attended this programme.

11. NIN arranged two days Special Yoga Class by Swami Dr. Nirmalanda from

Bihar School of Yoga, Munger on 7th and 8th Jan 2018 for General public

and NIN’s Yoga participants, Staff’s and students. Total no..of participants

were around 250.

12. Orientation program on “Inner Child Healing” was organised in NIN on Wednesday 10-1-2018. Dr.Preeti Kohli, who is an eminent physician, specialized in Mind Body Medicine was invited for the same. Dr. Amal Roshan, Jr. Naturopath, NIN were the coordinator for the same.

13. NIN conducted one day workshop on “Secrets of Natural Healing” on 21st

Feb 2018 by Dr. Arun Sharma Ji. NIN Yoga participants and regular visitors,

Doctors and TATC students were attended this program.

22. Dr. Santoshi conducted “free consultation and diet management” in Maheer Anadh ashram, Wadagaonsheri, Pune on 18th July 2017. Total participants were 36.

23. Dr. Pranav conducted a workshop on “Stress management through Naturopathy and Yoga” at Hope Fountation , Wadagaonsheri , Pune on 16th July 2017. Total participants were 30.

24. Dr.Shubhangi conducted a lecture on Introduction to Naturopathy and Yoga at Enron Nagarwala school at Pune for retired army officers on 7th July 2017. Total participants were 26.

25. Dr. Jyoti delivered lecture on “Naturopathy on Health” for general public at Indra Dhanush Hall, Dattawadi Pune on 29th July 2017. Total participants were 45.

26. On 18th July 2017 NIN offered two hours (1pm TO 3pm)’’Free consultation

and diet management in Sant hospital, Wadgaonsheri, Pune. Total 38 staff

were attended the session. The session was started with the introduction of

NIN Activities. Blood pressure and pulse rate was checked and advised to

come NIN for Naturopathy treatment and other therapy and explained in a

short about Yoga and Naturopathy (Diet and Treatments) for general health.

The program was conducted successfully. The Participants were interacted

well and clarified their doubts and given a feedback that , session was good

, very useful and very informative

27. Dr. Santoshi conducted “Free consultation and Diet management” for students and teachers of Mother Theresa School, old Mundawa Road, Wadagaonsheri, Pune on 18th August 2017. Total participants were 87.

28. Dr. Boris. D. has delivered lecture at Ampenol ITD India, Bhosari on “Yoga for Ergonomics”. Where he took a practical class for employees of the company on 30th August 2017. Total participants were 34.

29. Dr. Amal Roshan conducted workshop on “Improving Creativity with Naturopathy and Yoga” for students of DSK school in Loni, on 11-08-2017. Total participants were 150.

30. Dr. Ajinkya Pawar delivered talk on “Acupuncture and Acupressure” in Bharti Vidypeeth Deemed university, for Ayurveda students and Faculties on 11th August 2017. Total participants were 20.

31. Dr. Pranav and Dr. Rhutika conducted a workshop on “Stress management through Naturopathy and Yoga” at John Deere India Pvt. Ltd, Sanaswadi, Pune, on 24th August 2017. Total participants were 40.

32. Dr. Santoshi conducted outreach activity program-Free yoga class and consultation at Mother Teresa School, Wadgaonsheri, on 1st September 2017. 39 people participated in the session.

33. Dr. Jay Mahajan and Dr. Shubhangi conducted Outreach activity program on “lecture & Practical session on Naturopathy and Yoga” at Deepgrah Society, on 29th September 2017. 50 people participated in the session.

34. Dr. Pranav Khawale did outreach activity on “Introduction to Naturopathy and Naturopathy Treatment modalities” on 28th September 2017 at INI (Institute of National Integration), Pune. Number of participants 28.

35. Dr. Jyoti Kumbhar did Aakashvani recording program on the topic of “Sleep Disorders and Naturopathy” on 6th September 2017 and the same was telecasted in the month of October.

36. Dr. Pranav Khawale delivered talk on “Introduction to Naturopathy and Naturopathy Treatment modalities” on 28th September 2017 at INI (Institute of National Integration), Pune. Total participants were 28.

37. Dr. Boris. D. delivered a lecture at Ampenol ITD India, Bhosari on “How circadian cycle affects Human health” and took a practical class for employees of the company on 30th September 2017.

38. Dr. Ajinkya Pawar along 2 yoga instructor and 1 therapist were deputed to

conduct yoga class for railway staff, railway police force and students of hotel

management on 11th October 2017 at Pune railway station on the occasion

of Parytan Divas 2017. Around 60 participants performed yoga on that day.

39. Two days symposium was organized by Dept. of Person with Disability and

YASHADA from 11th and 12th Oct 2017 at Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Smarak

, Pune. On 11th October 2017 Dr. Ajinkhya Pawar invited as a Guest

speaker to deliver lecture on “Diet and Nutrition for Mental Health – a

Naturopathic Perspective” and panel Discussion on “Stress and

Psychological support”. On 12th October 2017 Dr. Rhutika delivered talk on

“Naturopathy and Holistic Health approach for Mental Health” delegates

present from Department of Person for Disability and YASHADA more than

1000 nos per day. In these two days Naturopathic breakfast, lunch and

refreshment was served from our diet center to all participants and guest.

40. Dr. Shubangi delivered lecture on “Acupressure and It’s application with

practical demonstration for students and staff of M.A. Rangoonwala College of Physiotherapy & Research Institute, camp, Pune on 6-10-2017. Total no of participants were 100.

53. As per request from the Shri. Surender Khurana to conduct a camp on Yoga

and Naturopathy, 4 TATC students (2 males and 2 female) deputed to conduct a camp from 11th to 13th Jan, 2018 at Talegaon.

54. Dr. Santoshi delivered a lecture on “Health Management through Naturopathy and Yoga” for the society people in Uttam Tower Society, Viman Nagar, Pune on 07th Jan 2018. Total participants were 36.

55. Dr. Pranav and Dr. Kushan Shah conducted a special camp on “Naturopathy Health checkup” for general public at Khamgaon,Pune through Nisargopachar Ashram, Uruli kanchan, INYGMA MH and in association with National Institute of Naturopathy on 23rd Jan 2018. Total participants were 98.

56. Dr. Jay Mahajan and Dr. Shubhangi conducted Health checkup camp at Lokhmanya Homeopathy Medical college and Hospital, Chinchwad, Pune on 30th Jan 2018. Total participants were 50.

57. One day Naturopathy camp was organized by INGYMA in Association with

NIN and NIsargopachar Ashram Urli at Sahajpur, Pune on 20th Feb 2018.

Dr. Pawar delivered a lecture on Naturopathy and Yoga for Maintaining of

Health. Around 90 people participated in this program.

63. Dr. Jay Mahajan and Dr. Subhangi were conducted a lecture on Basic principles of Naturopathy and yoga for general public an residents at Arena 29 Society, Rahatni, Pune. Total Participants were 100.

64. Dr. Pranav Khawale delivered talk on “Management of Obesity through Naturopathy & Yoga” on 5th March 2018 at ACE Hospital, Pune. Total participants were 25.

65. Dr. Pranav Khawale took a session on “Cardiovascular disorders through Naturopathy & Yoga” on 7th March 2018 at ACE Hospital, Pune. Total participants were 18.

66. Dr. Pranav Khawale deliver a lecture on “Kidney disorders through Naturopathy & Yoga” on 9th March 2018 at ACE Hospital, Pune.

67. Dr. Santoshi conducted one hour practical class on “Yoga Nidra for Stress Management” for staff at Mother Teresa school, old Mundawa road,Wadagaonsheri, Pune on 8th March 2018. Total participants were 32.

68. Half day workshop conducted at Kripal Ashram, Swargate Pune on 18th March 2018 for Society people. Dr. Jay Mahajan delivered talk on Introduction about Naturopathy and yoga and its Principles, followed by Dr. Subhangi took Diet & Naturopathic treatments for General Health in day to day Life. Dr. Seema Bhavan had a session exclusively for the Geriatric Population in which she talked about the common illness in old age. Total participants were 200.

12. Cookery Classes :-

1. A group of people from various Govt. Handicap Centers staffs deputed to train

the Natural way of cooking methods in NIN’s Naturopathy Diet Centre every

week from 10th April 2017. 8 staff underwent the training programme of

Healthy way of Naturopathy Preparations and provided them participants

certificates.

2. Dr. Seema along with two interns conducted naturopathy and Yoga awareness and Cookery class for Agarwal Samaj Group at Veer Savarkar Bhavan, Nigdi, Pune on 9th June, 2017.

13. Natural Health Food Fair and Yoga Naturopathy Seminar:

NIN has participated in the two days AYUSH Festivals of Stamps on 17th - 18th

October, 2017 organized by Department of Posts, Govt of India at Panaji, Goa on the

occasion of the Ayurveda Day. The Inaugural Session was attended by the Director,

NIN along with the officers, staff and Doctors deputed for the event. The Chief Guest

on the occasion was Shri Vinay Dinu Tendulkar, Hon. Member of Parliament, Rajya

Sabha. He inaugurated the function and visited NIN’s Stall. Director, Dr. P. Yuvaraj

Paul,NCP, Dr. Hyndavi,RO, and Dr. Pranav , MO, delivered the lectures for general

Public and Students on various topics. The Valedictory Function was held at 3.30

PM on 18th Oct. 2017. Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India

was the Chief Guest. Shri PN Ranjit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH,

Govt. of India was the Guest of Honour along with Shri N. Vinod Kumar, Post Master

General (PMG),Goa Region. During this two-day event, NIN, has put stall of free

health check up, demonstration of cold press oil and various recipes on natural food

preparation, like various juices, salads, herbal tea, etc. Participants and general

public were given Nisargopachar Varta, and IEC materials free of cost for promotion

and propagation of various healthy habits, treatments.

2. NIN has Conducted two days NNFF 2018 from 17th to 18th Feb 2018 at Peoples Plaza,

Necklace Road, Hyderabad. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri. M.D. Mohamood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana in the presence of Shri. C. Laxma Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Govt.of Telangana, Dr. Rajendra Reddy, Director of AYUSH, Govt.of Telangana and Shri. B. Venkatesham, IAS, Secretary, Govt. of Telangana Youth Advancement, Tourism, Cultural & Backward Classes Welfare Department. Followed by the above programme they visited 50 Healthy foods & Organic product stalls. The Valedictory Function was held at 4.00PM on 18th Feb 2018. Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest. Shri. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & co-operation, Horticulture Sericulture, Seeds Corporation, Govt. of Telangana, Shri. C. Laxma Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Govt.of Telangana, were the Guest of Honour along with Dr. Rajendra Reddy, Director of AYUSH, Govt.of Telangana and Shri. Mamidi Hari Krishna, Director, dept. of Language and Culture, Govt.of Telangana. During this two-day event, NIN, has, put stall of free health checkup, demonstration of cold press oil and various recipes on natural food preparation, like various juices, salads, herbal tea, etc. Participants and general public were given Nisargopachar Varta, and IEC materials free of cost for

promotion and propagation of various healthy habits, treatments. Around 40,000 general public and students visited the stalls during these two days Food exhibitions.

14. Participation in Exhibitions:

1. Dr. Jay Mahajan along with 2 staff s were deputed to attend the AROGYA

exhibition at Indore from 5th –10th April 2017.

2. NIN participated in National level Arogya Fair at Chennai during 5th to 10th

May,2017 organized by the Ministry of AYUSH. Dr. Boris, Junior Naturopath

alongwith 2 staff were deputed for the exhibition.

3. NIN participated in 5th Bhartiya Vigyan Sammelan and Expo Exhibition for

the period from 11th to 14th May,2017 with a stall at Fergusson College, Pune.

4. Dr. Alam Shah along 2 staff were deputed to attend the International

AROHYA Exhibition organized by the Ministry of AYUSH , Govt. of India at

New Delhi from 4th – 7th December 2017. Around more than 2500 people

visited NIN stall. Dr. Alam offered free consultation and diet advice for around

120 participants.

5. Dr. Alam Shah along 2 staff were deputed to attend the State AROHYA

Exhibition organized by the Ministry of AYUSH , Govt. of India at Bharatpur

Rajasthan from 22nd – 25th December 2017. Around more than 4000 people

visited our stall. Dr. Alam offered free consultation and diet advice for around

229 participants.

6. Dr. Alam Shah along with 2 interns and 1 staff were deputed to attend the

State level exhibition organized by the Ministry of Forest and Environment

Department ,State Medical Plants Board of Odisa at Bhubaneswar from 5th

– 9th November 2017. Around more than 2500 people visited our stall. Dr.

Alam offered free consultation and diet advice for around 155 participants.

15. Awareness programmes including School Children/Students:

As part of ongoing activity NIN doctors undertake one outreach activity every month

and one monthly in-house workshop on one disease out of which some programs are

given below:

1. 90 students of 3rd year BAMS from Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidhyalaya , Rastapeth, Pune visited NIN on 20th April 2017. Dr. Amal Roshan, took one hour orientation session on Basic Principles of Naturopathy and Yoga and NIN activities, after that he has shown them to all departments of NIN.

2. A group of 10 MPH students from Norway visited NIN on 10th July 2017 Dr. Jyoti Kumbhar explained about activities of NIN and Naturopathic treatments and she has shown all departments.

3. Awareness programmes for children suffering from diabetes by NIN in collaboration with Nityaasha Foundation on 12.8.17

4. 60 students of 3rd Year BAMS along with In charge from College of Ayurveda , Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed University Katraj , Pune along with In-charge visited NIN on 20th September 2017.Dr. Pawar briefly explained about the activities of NIN , Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments and followed by students were shown to all departments of NIN.

5. 48 students of third Year BAMS along with 2 facilities from DY Patil college , Pune visited NIN on 24th October 2017.Dr. Yuvaraj Paul, NCP briefly explained about the activities of NIN , Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments and followed by students were shown to all departments of NIN.

6. Dr. Santoshi conducted “Free consultation and Yoga class” for students and teachers of Mother Theresa School, old Mundawa road, Wadagaonsheri, Pune on 1st September 2017. Total participants were 39.

7. Dr. Ajinkya Pawar delivered a talk on “Magneto Therapy, Aroma therapy” and conducted Practical demo class for HOD, Professors and P.G students of Ayurveda college, Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed University, Pune on 8th September 2017. Total participants were 20.

8. Dr. Hyndavi and Dr. Shivaraman conducted awareness program on Naturopathy

Naturopathy and Yoga was conducted for children on 19th November 2017 at

Dreams Sankalp society, Wagholi. Around 45 children and their parents

participated in the program.

9. As per request from S.C.M Aryangla Vaidyak Mahavidhyala Satara, Fifty 3rd Year BAMS students along with 3 faculty member visited NIN on 13th December 2017. Dr. Yuvaraj Paul, NCP briefly explained about the activities of NIN, Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments and followed by students were shown to all departments of NIN.

10. As per request from the Maria Convent, NIN conducted two days (daily 3 Hrs)workshop on “Old age Problems through Naturopathy and Yoga” at Sasoon road , Pune. NIN deputed Dr. Alam Shah to deliver a talk on Diet and Nutrition. Dr. Ashwani delivered a lecture on Naturopathy Treatments , next day Dr. Seema delivered a talk on Basic yoga and exercise for old age problems followed by Dr. Jyoti took a session on Naturopathy practical orientation for old age problems. Total no. of Participants were 30.

11. As per request from Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Nursing, Pune 4 PG students from the field of Mental health and Community Health” along with 2 faculty member visited NIN on 18th Jan 2018. Dr. Pranav briefly explained about the activities of NIN, Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments.

12. As per request from Yoga Sanskruti health research and social foundation, 40 yoga students along with 2 faculty member visited NIN on 20th Jan 2018. Dr. Jyoti Kumbhar briefly explained about the activities of NIN, Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments and followed by students were shown to all departments of NIN.

13. As per request from AFMC Pune, College of Nursing, 60 students and staff visited

NIN on 21st Feb 2017. Dr. Yuvaraj Paul, SMO briefly explained about the activities of NIN, Principles of Naturopathy and about the Naturopathic treatments and followed by students were shown to all departments of NIN.

14. Dr. Santoshi conducted Free consultation and Health checkup for kids in Shinde House Society Malwadi, Wadgaonsheri, Pune on 26th Dec 2017.

16. Celebration of International Yoga Day – 21st June,2017: -

International day Yoga celebrations at NIN on 21st June 2017 started with

a Yoga protocol, continued with Zumba by Dr. Boris and brunch was

provided to the participants. Around 300 members participated in the

event.

Bhakti Yoga seminar was conducted at NIN, Pune on the occasion of International day

Yoga-2017 on 22nd June. Dr.Bagya Latha Pataskar, Mrs.Veena Raj, Dr.Manmath Garote,

Prof. Mutatkar, Dr.Nagalakshmi Reddy Participated in the event. The session was

concluded by Bhakti sangeet program. Around 120 members participated in the program.

As a part of IYD program Pune Commissioner of Disability deputed PT and interpreter

from different Disabilities schools to undergo training of IYD Protocol, 55 teachers

underwent training programme from 15th -18th June 2017.

5. Director, NIN attended the “Academic Committee Meeting of Yoga and Naturopathy” held on 18th August 2017 at AYUSH Bhavan, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi.

6. Director, NIN visited Hyderabad on 19th & 20th August’ 2017, as the Commissioner, AYUSH, Govt. of Telangana invited to discussed regarding development of AYUSH in the state.

7. Director, NIN attended the “Academic Committee Meeting of Yoga and Naturopathy” held on 18th August 2017 at AYUSH Bhavan, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi.

8. Director NIN conducted a Press Conference for the National Natural Food Festival to promote and propagate Naturopathy and Yoga at Hyderabad.

9. A training program was conducted for NIN doctors and interns on Naturopathy Diagnostic methods of, “Iris and facial diagnosis” by Dr. Krishna Murthy, SMO, Red Cross Hospital, Hyderabad on 19th August 2017 and 20th August 2018. The same programme was conducted in Nisargopachar Ashram Urlikanchan.

10. On occasion of International Women’s Day Director, NIN received an Award for Excellence in Health Services from the Government of Telangana.

11. Director, NIN attended the Annual cultural festival’ India by the Nile (IBN)’ being organized by the Embassy of India in Cairo, Egypt from 12-15 March, 2018. In this event Director, NIN addressed the faculties and participants on Practicing Yoga- The Right Way. Mass Yoga Session were also conducted by the Indian delegates.

12. Dr. Amal Roshan attended basic course in Inner Child Healing conducted by life foundation in Mumbai on 10& 11 March 2018.

c. Other Events:

1. TATC Students attended the English Communication Skill Classes by Ms. Mukul Ahmed

from 13th Feb, 2017 onwards.

2. Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is a statutory social security organization

established under Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government ,of India for health

care of workforce in India. Presently ESIC is providing health care through allopathy and

AYUSH systems. There are number of ESI hospitals and dispensaries located in

different States. Now ESIC is planning to expand AYUSH facilities in all hospitals and

dispensaries in a phased manner. In order to assess the usefulness of such facilities

and replicate the same in ESI hospitals and dispensaries the ESIC Sub-Commitee on

AYUSH, consisting Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor (Ayurveda), Dr. Samir Shah, DIMS-

Gujarat, Shri V. Radhakrishnan, President, BMS, Shri Chandra Prakash Singh,

Secretary, INTUC, Shri KV Sekhar Raju, President, FASII, Dr. VV Prasad, Advisor

(AYUSH),ESIC, Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, DMC (Ayush), ESIC, Dr. Yogiraj, Hon'ble

Member, Vaidya Devendra Triguna, Hon'ble Member, and Shri Dipak Joshi, Director,

ESIC, Pune, visited the National Institute of Naturopathy, Bapu Bhavan, Pune

today. The Sub-Committee was welcomed by Dr. Satya Lakshmi, Director of alongwith

the Officers, Faculty of NIN and students and staff. They were shown the facilities

available in NIN that includes OPD facilities/treatment sections, Medi-Gym, Naturopathy

Diet Centre, Yoga Centre., health shop etc. While interacting with the Sub-Committee,

the Director NIN stated that Naturopathy can mainly offer complementary or mainstream

role in the areas of Cancer Care, Diabetes Mellittus, Cardiovascular Diseases, Metabolic

Syndrome, Musculoskeletal Disorders, Neurological disorders, Geriatric Care, Maternal

Care, Reproductive/Fertility Care, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Psychiatric

Disorders/Stress clinics, general positive promotion of health. Integrated Naturopathy

and Yoga lifestyle clinic includes preventive clinic, curative clinic and rehabilitative clinic.

The Director further stated that Yoga and Naturopathy can serve as a vital component

in offering sustainable health alongwith modern medicine especially in the ESI set up

where the core beneficiaries are people from different socio economic

backgrounds. Additional services which can be provided in the said hospitals are

Naturopathic Diet Centre, Health Shop- a store of products providing take away

treatment products like enema can, neti pots, eye wash cups, health related books to

orient people through health education, etc. The Director further stated that Integrated

Health care model has been the recent trend owing to the promising results offered from

the complementary and alternative system of Medicine. Naturopathy and Yoga one

among the indigenous system of India, under the Ministry of AYUSH can offer such

prognosticating results. It can blend perfectly with the modern medical system as it does

not elicit any kind of drug interactions which harms the patient. After their visit to

all facilities and brief ppt. presentation by the Director, the Sub-Committee was given

vote of thanks by Shri K. Subhash, Administrative Officer, NIN.

3. NIN observed Anti-Terrorism Day at NIN, Pune on 19th May,2017, as per the instructions

from the Ministry of AYUSH, by administering pledge by the staff, doctors, interns,

students, etc. followed by Director and conducted debates, lectures, workshop, etc. on

this day.

4. A workshop on mock Dril on fire safety method conducted on 3rd August 2017.

5. NIN observed “Quit India Movement Day” on 9th August, 2017. Director and

Administrative Officer gave a speech on Quit India Movement.

6. Awareness programme on Oral Hygine and free dental check up at NIN campus held on

18th August, 2017 from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm conducted by TeethZ Dental Clinic, Pune.

7. NABH team visited NIN on 5th August, 2017. Dr. Mahesh Pandit, Principle Accessor,

NABH conducts one session on Safety Measures at NIN.

8. Dr. Jayashree Chander, MD, MPH conducted a session on Fathers and Brothers Care

on 08th August, 2017 on the occasion of Rakshabandhan at NIN.

9. NIN celebrated the Independence Day Flag hoisting Ceremony by organizing various

Cultural Programmes by the students and trainees of NIN on 15th August, 2017.

10. On the event of Independence Day celebration, sports and extracurricular activities were

conducted for the students and staffs of NIN from 11th to 14th August 2017. NIN doctors

were deputed for jugging various activities and Dr. Pawar co -ordinated the entire

program.

11. NIN in association with Maharashtra Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Pune, “Gandhi Peach

March” was conducted on 6th August 2017 on the occasion of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

day. The Director, Doctors and students were participated in this program.

12. As per NABH norms “Infection Control” committee meeting was conducted on 23rd Nov 2017 at NIN, where infection Control Manual and its implementation in various departments was discussed.

13. Two days training programme of Ozone Therapy (Level 1) was conducted for NIN

doctor’s and Interns by Dr. Mili Shah and Dr. Jignasha Captain on 13th and 14th of Jan

2018.

14. Republic day celebrated by organizing various Cultural Programmes by the students

and trainees of NIN on 15th August, 2017.

15. NIN deputed 60 TATC both male and female) students along with 4 interns to Agakhan

Palace to celebrate the Centenary Year of Gandhiji’s Champaran and Kheda

Satyagraha” on 30th Jan 2018.

16. Dr. Ajinkya Pawar conducted Bio medical waste training program on 5th Dec 2017 at NIN

yoga hall. NIN all Therapist and Housekeeping staff attended the program.

17. NIN conducted orientation class for Doctors and House surgeons on Arsenic Poisoning and methods of testing arsenic, Thiamine and selenium content by Dr. Nambiar, former Deputy Director of NCL on 8th Feb 2018.

18. As per the request from Omkar Nature Cure and Yoga Center, Pirangut, NIN deputed 4 students (2 male and 2 female) to conduct a residential camp from 22nd to 24th Feb 2018.

19. one day workshop on Chi-gong and reflexology training programme was conducted by Mrs. Joan for doctors and interns on 5th March 2018.

19. Hindi Pakhawada : was observed from Sept. 1st to 15th by this Institute. The formal

inauguration of the Pakhawada was done at the hands of Shri Rajendra Prasad Varma,

Asst. Director, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Pune on 01/09/2017. During the Pakhwada

different competitions like Antakshari, Speech, Essay Writing and Hindi ShrutLekhan

among the Staff, Doctors and Students were organized. Hindi Workshop on Noting and

Drafting was conducted by Shri Rajendra Varma, Asst. Director, Hindi Teaching Scheme,

among the Staff, Doctors and Trainees to encourage maximum usage of Hindi in office

work and general communication.

20. Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti:

Gandhi Jayanti was observed and celebrated by National Institute of Naturopathy on 02nd Oct,

2017 with many important programmes especially pertaining to Gandhi and Naturopathy.

Besides garlanding the Gandhi Statue at NIN premises by the Director of the Institute in the

presence of Guests; Prof R.K. Mutatkar an eminent Anthropologist, Pune University, Shri Lal

Ghanshani and Shri Anant Birajdar, Governing Body Members of the Institute along with the

Faculty, Staff, Officers and Students and large number of public assembled in ‘Bapu Bhavan”.

Inaugural ceremony of the Programme consisted of Gandhian Prayers/Bhajans, and National

Symposium on Gandhi and Health. The daylong Symposium organized intended to bring

Mahatma Gandhi’s views on Health and its ramification and how health can be preserved and

nurtured. Eminent speakers and scholars deliberated on this aspects included Prof. Dr. K.

Satya Lakshmi, Prof. R.K. Mutatkar, Prof. Dr. Mohan Gupte, former Director of National

Institute of Epidemiology. Shri S. Chockalingam, IAS, Settlement Commissioner, Revenue

Department, Govt. of Maharashtra. Naturopaths across the country participated in the daylong

Symposium.

The topics covered included Gandhian perspective on Public Health with focus on Nature

Cure.Challenges to present day health scenario: A road map to achieve health to all from a

Gandhian perspective. Concept sharing session among the participants. Public and people

collaboration to achieve health self sufficiency. Panel Discussion: Relevance of Gandhian

Perspective on Health: The way forward

The Hon’ble Mayor of Pune Smt. Mukta Tilak was the Chief Guest of Valedictory Function.

During her address to the gathering consist of Medical professionals and Scholars.

Smt. Mukta Tilak urged all to follow Gandhian principles to attain good health. She also

requested Director NIN to introduce Naturopathy and Yoga principles in Municipal schools of

Pune.

Director of the Institute informed that NIN will start fellowship programme on Gandhian Studies

and the “Nisarg-Gram” Naturopathy Medical College, Hospital of 250 bedded capacity,

Research unit and a Gandhian Study Centre will also be established in Pune by the Institute.

The Symposium further concluded that NIN has a legacy of Mahatma Gandhi is a Mother

Institute of Nature Cure in India and to be recognized as a Institution of National Importance

with the status of Central University.

An information booklet on Gandhi and his close association with Naturopathy and NIN was

released at the hands of eminent Guests and Personalities on the occasion.

A Mobile App ‘NIN Naturopathy’ prepared by NIN and flyer on Bapu Bhavan was also released

at the hands of Smt. Mukta Tilak, Hon’ble Mayor of Pune.

A bike ride organized by “Road Thrills” for promotion of Naturopathy and the importance of

Healthy living from Bapu Bhavan to AgaKhan Palace to Nisargopachar Ashram at

UruliKanchan.

Healthy breakfast, Lunch and herbal tea was also served to all the participants. Shri K.

Subhash, Admin Officer proposed the vote of thanks.

21. Ambedkar Jayanti: NIN observed 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

and celebrated as a Constitution Day on 14th October 2016. Staff and students

pledged to legitimately execute our rights. Director NIN addressed the audience

gathered on the occasion explained why we should be proud of the Constitution of

India and hailed the achievements of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

22. Ekta Divas: Rashtriya Ekta Divas was celebrated on 31st October at NIN. Staff

and students have undertaken a pledge to safeguard the integrity of the country.

23. Vigilance Awareness Week:

Vigilance Awareness week was observed at NIN from 30th October to 06th

November, 2017. Various programmes such as administering the Pledge, Lecture

Sessions, Essay Writing Competition, Elocution / Speech Competition and

Debate Competition etc. was conducted and Banners were also displayed at

prime locations of the office premises for creating awareness. Integrity Pledge

Shri Gajendra Rao, CVO of the Institute, delivered a Power point presentation on

Preventive Vigilance and elaborated the role of containing corruption.

On 06.11.2017 Smt. Vibhawari Shinde, Accounts Officer, NIV, Pune delivered a lecture on “My

Vision Corruption Free India” on Valedictory Function of Vigilance Awareness Week and gave

away prizes to the winners of various Competitions.

24. National Institute of Naturopathy observed birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as

Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) on 25thNovember, 2017 to commemorate the

adoption of Constitution o0f India.

25. MAJOR ACTIVITIES DURING THE CURRENT YEAR 2017-18:

ACQUISITION OF LAND: NIN with the active support from the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has been allocated 10 Hectors (25 acres) of land by the Government of Maharashtra to establish ‘Nisarg Gram’ Naturopathy Hospital (250 Bedded), Medical College(UG/PG/Ph.D/fellowship/Para Med.), Research Unit and Living Gandhi Memorial at new site in Yewalewadi, Tal. Haveli within Pune Municipal limits.

26. SWACHHA BHARAT ABHIYAN:

NIN organized intensive campaign called Swachha Bharat Abhiyan with the participation of Officers, Staff, Doctors, Students, Trainees of the Institute to bring mass awareness. The main purpose of this Abhiyan was to make the people aware of need of personal and public cleanliness and sanitation which is of paramount importance to prevent the emerging epidemics and to materialize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi also to fulfill the call of Hon'ble Prime Minister. Work done during the reported year:

1. Store room area thoroughly cleaned.

2. One Big store room developed into class room for Acupuncture, Gandhian

Studies and Research Methodology after thorough cleaning, white washing

etc.

3. Obsolete printing material weeded out.

4. Cleaning of Garden and office premises have been carried out.

5. A demo kitchen garden has been planned and executed for display

purpose. (Tomato, Chilli & Spinach)
