IoT Concepts and Mass Market

The Internet of Things connects people to people, people to things, and things to things.

Interconnection between things changed the world.

Now, 99% things are not connected to networks.

Extension from M2M to Cloud Platform

The intelligent card system on mobile phones is a WAN extended to the cloud platform.

The intelligent circuit (IC) card system in public transportation is a local Machine to Machine (M2M) network.

IoT Trend --- Wide connect, Large Platform, Intelligent Application

ApplicationPlatformNetworkGatewaySensorTerminal

ApplicationPlatformNetworkGatewaySensorTerminal

The key is in the application, not in the terminal, but without IP network there will be no IoT…

Various bus communication modes are migrated over IP, and networks are more standard and convenient.

IPv4 addresses are exhausted, and IoT development adapts to IPv6.

Ultimate Goal of M3 – Everything Has an IPv6 Address

Internet of PCsThe 4.2 billion IPv4 addresses have been exhausted. The technologies such as NAT/NAT44 are used to address this issue. Currently, these technologies are mainly used for interconnection between PCs.

Mobile InternetThere are more than 6 billion terminals in the world, and the quantity is dramatically increasing. Most of the terminals have the IP capability.

IoTOver than 99% things have not been connected to the Internet. In future, more than 10 trillion connections will be set up. IPv6 provides 3.4 x 1038 (340 trillion trillion trillion) unique IP addresses, which meet the requirements of IoT.

IPv6 has a huge address space, and can provide a unique ID for everything.

Application Scenario Hotels, apartments, and dormitories that have sufficient CATV cable

resources but complex wall structure and scenarios where cabling is

difficult and settled APs cannot be deployed to provide signal coverage services.

Product Highlight Extra cabling is not required, without penetration loss. This

deployment mode ensures high-quality indoor signals. The WOC uses the existing CATA network, which simplifies

deployment and reduces deployment costs.

Wired WirelessWhose: Whose device (enterprise device orBYOD device)?

What device accesses the network (PC, iOSdevice, or Android device)?

How: How the device accesses the network(via wired networks, wireless networks, or VPN)?

Who: Who access the network (employees or guests)?

Where: Where the access location is (R&D network non-R&D network, or home)?

When: When is the access (during working hoursor non-working hours)?

WLAN RFID Positioning

The location information is displayed visually. The WLAN RFID applies to asset and people tracking and provides track analysis.

The AP collects tag or terminal information and transfers them to the location engine for computing.

The tag is carried by users or bound to the asset and transmits RF signals.

The location engine calculates the location of the tag or terminal based on the RF signal strength.

RF tag Application Scenario Hospitals: Locate patients and medical assets,

and track medical care processes. Logistics: Track important assets, goods, and

tools. Mining and manufacturing industries: Track

personnel to enhance safety, track devices, and allow manufacturing visualization.

AP

Working Mechanism APs/ACs collect tag information and send the

information to the location engine. Three locating APs provide location of tags

with a precision less than 5 m.
