NHS Funded Students/Financing • These questions are a subset of those
from a questionnaire being used at Imperial – We asked them to all students however
• This is an area that we have been wanting to look into for some time as finances are a regular concern – Has also recently become a focus of KCLSU
• Introductory text: – 'From their 5th year of medical studies onwards
(including extra years for EMDP, iBSc etc), the majority of students receive funding from the NHS Bursary system rather than Student Finance. This covers tuition fees and a maintenance bursary which does not need to be repaid later. However, for many students this maintenance bursary is significantly less than their previous student loan, meaning they have a lower income from their 5th year onwards.'
