ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON RECENT TRENDS IN MATHEMATICS

The JSS Mahavidyapeetha (JSSMVP) was founded in 1954 by His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji with the objective of providing education and health care especially to the rural mass. The Vidyapeetha under the able guidance of present President His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji now runs more than 350 institutions in India and abroad. The range of institutions includes Sanskrit Patashalas, PU & Degree Colleges, Postgraduate Centers, Agricultural Research Centers, Hospitals, Free Education Schools, Nursing, Medical and Engineering Colleges.

The founder of JSSMVP, who took birth in year 1916, dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the society. Centenary Year of the founder will be celebrated in 2016 and as a background to this, a series of activities are being conducted by JSSMVP and its institutions.

JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysore started in 1964, is the first degree college of JSS Mahavidyapeetha. The college is autonomous under University of Mysore and is re-accredited by NAAC with "A" grade. It is identified by UGC as "College with Potential for Excellence", recognized by DBT, Govt. of India, New Delhi under 'Star College Scheme'. Department of IT and BT, Govt. of Karnataka has sanctioned "Biotechnology Finishing School". The college is situated on a sprawling 7 acres plot with a spacious building and a women's hostel in a picturesque surrounding at the foot of Chamundi Hills. Because of its multifaceted growth, the college has won encomiums from all corners. The year 2013-14 is the year of celebration of Golden Jubilee of the college.

The year 2013 has been marked for various mathematical activities in order to stimulate imagination on many domains where mathematics plays a crucial role in the issues connected with the planet Earth.

The challenges facing our plannet and our civilization are multidisciplinary, multifaced and the mathematical sciences play a central role in the scientific effort to understand and to deal with these challenges.

The mission of the MPE is to create awareness in the public and to encourage the educators at all levels to communicate the issues related to the planet Earth and the essential role of mathematical sciences in facing the challenges to our planet.

Our college is organizing an International Seminar on Recent Trends in Mathematics on 6th August 2013 in connection with the celebration of Mathematics of the Planet Earth-2013, and on the eve of centenary year of Dr. Shri Jagadguru Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji in the year 2016 & on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year of the College 2013-14. Experts are invited to deliver lectures on latest developments in Mathematics and their applications to other disciplines.

There will be no registration fee. The participants have to submit filled in registration form on or before 4th August 2013 (A photo copy of the registration form may also be used, if required).

The seminar will be held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, Ooty Road, *Mysore - 570 025, Karnataka, India.

* The Mysore City is regarded as Cultural Capital of Karnataka & renowned tourist centre and is well connected by road & rail.

No TA & DA will be paid to the participants. Outstation delegates have to pay Rs. 700 for booking accommodation. The DD should be drawn in favour of The Principal, JSS College, Ooty Road, Mysore. Request for accommodation to be made on or before 27-07-2013 & DD has to be sent on or before 31-07-2013.
