The Faculty and staff of the IGD are dedicated to provide the highest quality of education to make art enables a significant and definite development in student. We provide special training for Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination. A minimum eligibility criteria for this exam is 10+2 or equivalent qualification. Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination (IGD-Bombay) is a unique course which gives you a chance to prove yourself in this competitive era. This course is conducted by “Government of Maharashtra” and valid by U.P. Board Allahabad. It is a diploma necessary for drawing teacher and artist at any Government Establishment. What are the benefits of this Diploma? 1. Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination (IGD-Bombay) is equivalent to B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education). 2. If a candidate gets this Diploma, there is a no need to do B.Ed. for him for the appointment of drawing teacher at any Inter College because the diploma is equivalent to the degree of B.Ed. 3. After doing this diploma there are many chances for the placement on the post of Artist and Designers in the Air Force, Military, Roadways and Medical Colleges.

Intermediate Grade Drawing ExaminationThis examination will be held during September Every year in Maharashtra State. Only those candidates who pass the Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination are admitted to the specialized higher course like Commercial Art, Fine Art and Foundation. But it is not compulsory for other art course like Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Textile etc. But it gives added advantage if you have a certificate. Even some of IT & Vocational Engineering courses give advantage for intermediate exam.

Still Life Drawing

1. AIMS: To develop the ability to draw the shapes of objects neatly in pencil & color. To gain the general understanding of tones. To study forms and relative properties. To develop a general understanding of space organization. To be able to handle water color &/or pastels

2. SYLLABUS:

To and color a simple group (*) of 4 to 5 objects placed in front of the students. The objects should be good forms based on basic geometrical shapes and they should preferably be colored. (* The objects may be arranged on the floor or above at some suitable height.) Students should be able to render tonal values in colors in a very simple manner. Mechanical devices are not to be used.

3. SUGGESTED MEDIUM: 1. Pencil, water colors, poster colors, oil or wax crayons, colored pencils etc. 2. These mediums may be used either individually or in combination.

Nature Drawing 1. AIMS: To develop the ability to observe and render a simple natural form. To study natural forms and their growth and structure.

2. SYLLABUS: Drawing and coloring a plant with 3 to 5 leaves of medium size and flower one or two. Enlarging and drawing any one part of the plant such as joints, stem, knots, petals, leaves, tendrils etc.

3. SUGGESTED MEDIUM: 1. Pencil 2. Water colors (Transparent and / or opaque)

2. INTRODUCTION: Beauty is manifested through innumerable thing such as conchs, fishes, animals, birds, butterflies, flowers, leaves, shells the unfathomable ocean, varying moods of the sky, sunrise, sunset, the rainbow, flowing rivers with their rippling waters and so on. In nature, beauty is spread out everywhere. However, you need to train your senses to see and record this beauty. Thus, the study of nature. Drawing becomes inevitable to keep beautiful forms, color harmony and their variety embodied permanently in a picture. Generally, it is more convenient for the centers to supply those flowers that are available in large quantities or those group of flowers for all the centers, only those group of flowers which are seasonal in that particular region are supplied by their center. Thousands of student appear to the Grade Examinations at different centers at the same time. Hence a plant with leavers and flowers is selected for supplying it to each individual candidate. The obvious reason is that such plants are easily available everywhere like Aster, Dahlia, Shoe flower(Hibiscus), Zinnia, Periwinkle (Sadaphuli), sunflower etc. Which are easily available, are generally prescribed for Nature Drawing in the examination.

3. Drawing Practice by actually keeping the Leaves, Flower and Stem in front: In order to draw the leaves. flowers and stem minutely and with details, it is important to observe them carefully. In the examination, the drawing and coloring should be done in detail and minutely. For this enough time is allotted. Observe all these objects minutely. Study carefully the shape of the leaves, their edges and texture. Collect and keep in front of you specimens of flower, leaves and stems to practice nature drawing.If any leaf is folded, spotted, rotten or moth-eaten, it has to be drawn as it is. Again, see if the veins of the leaves have proceeded from one point to both sides, or have done so alternatively.

Cont....See minutely and carefully at the number and shapes of its petals, its color, texture, shades & light. Notice whether any of the petals are bent or twisted. See the color texture & structure of the middle part of flower minutely. Remember that in nature drawing the stem of the plant is as the leaves and flowers. Hence it must be drawn & painted with all its subtleties. Observe its various details, viz. Where the stem is thick & where it has grown thin; whether the leaves have come up from one and the same joint or whether each leaf has grown from separate join; how much thicker the join or the ‘eye’ of the stem is from where the leaves have sprung up, and so on. Draw all these details accurately.

4. Nature Drawing Notes:

1. Hold the paper vertically while drawing.

2. Use a 0.5 clutch pencil with HB lead.

3. Draw the given plant slightly larger than its actual size.

4. Draw with a light hand. Do not make it bold and dard.

5. If you find a small bud in a plant. Instead of removing the bud, it should be included in the nature drawing.

6. Try to the drawing looking at the flower, a painting done in this manner looks more natural. Some students take just one look at the flower, keep it aside.

Memory Drawing 1. AIMS: To develop the ability to retain and recall memory images. To develop the power of imaginative reconstruction and ability to express an idea pictorially.

2. SYLLABUS: Simple familiar objects (animate or inanimate) to be drawn in pencil and colored. To illustrate a familiar incident from daily life. To create a picture based on a number of given animate or inanimate objects.

3. SUGGESTED MEDIUM: 1. Pencil 2. Transparent and / or opaque water color or oil or wax crayons.

Design 1. AIMS: To develop the creative expression. To understand the simple principles of design such as balance, proportion and rhythm. To develop the ability to apply these principles creativity for specific purposes. To develop a sense and understanding of color harmony and its effect.

2. SYLLABUS: Any type of decorative design-floral, geometrical or abstract, to be executed in color, with a definite purpose. Any kind of motives such a geometrical shapes, birds, animals, fishes or any abstract forms may be composed to from a design. The design may be symmetrical or asymmetrical.

3. SUGGESTED 1. Pencil 2. Water Color (Transparent and / or opaque).

4. SUGGESTED TECHNIQUES:(1) Rags, fingers, crumpled paper, thread, brush, leaves or other similar materials may be used for stamping and printing to bring in textural quality.(2) Tracing methods can also be used.

Freehand Drawing 1. AIMS: To train the hand and the eye to develop a sense of balance, proportionating and rhythm, without the use of geometrical or mechanical devise.To develop the ability to reproduce neatly and proportionately a given from or diagram.

2. SYLLABUS: Any traditional decorative design or a similarly prepared simple one will be supplied to the students for drawing in an enlarged size. It need not necessarily be symmetrical.

3. SUGGESTED MEDIUMS: 1. Pencil, opaque, black color or water proof black ink .

GEOMETRY FOR ELEMENTARY / INTERMEDIATE GRADE DRAWING EXAMINATION:1. AIMS: To understand various geometrical shapes and their construction. To develop ability to use these shapes for making overlapping. Just a position or interlacing of whole shapes or parts thereof. To include accuracy and neatness in mechanical type of art work. To understand the old and new forms of lettering in general.To understand elementary (basic) solid geometry and scale drawing.

2. SYLLABUS: (A) Plane practical geometry same as that for Elementary Grade Drawing Examination. (B) Scale drawing and lettering including Solid Geometry(I ) Making a scale of given instrument. (II) Lettering in Roman or Vernacular scripts. Any variation or form is allowed.

Instruction to Candidates1. Application for permission to appear for the Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination must be addressed to any one of the superintendent of the center and not to all controllers of examinations. 2. Candidates will not allowed in any case to change center after the superintendent have submitted their list to the controller.3. Candidates should be in their places at least five minutes before the time fixed for the commencement of each examination paper.4. Candidate arriving late are liable to be refused admission.5. Any candidate detected in speaking to or in any way communicating with any other candidate having recourse to malpractice of any kind will be at once expelled from the room and the circumstances reported to the controller of examination.6. The candidate will be provided by the superintendent of centers with cartridge paper 1.4 imperial (i.e. 38cmX28cm) for all subjects as also tracing paper, blotting paper and water if necessary. Other materials as may be specific for the purposes of printing, stamping, tracing, stenciling etc. at the test in ‘Design’ will also be supplied to the candidate by the superintendent of centers.7. All the drawing and coloring materials including colors as also bowl for water, brushes, palette etc. requires for wet mediums of coloring where necessary, must be brought by the candidate.8. The common materials which the candidate are permitted to have with them and with which they must come provided for each of the examinations are as follows: Wooden Drawing board or card board pad, Drawing pins, pencils (Not more 7” long), Pen, Eraser, Knife or Pencil Sharpener and ink.9. In addition to the materials, those mentioned below should be brought for the respective examination paper. FOR INTERMEDIATE GRADE EXAMINATION: Still-Life-Wax-Color Mediums: Water colors, poster colors oil or crayons, colored pencils.Nature Drawing and coloring: Color mediums-water color, transparent and/or Opaque.Memory Drawing: Color Mediums - Water colors, or oil wax crayons.Design-Color-Mediums: Water colors, Transparent and/or opaque, instruments, Geometrical Instrument, Blade, Cutter for stencil cutting (If necessary ) foot rule or T-square.10. Request for re-valuation of answer-sheet shall under no circumstances be entertained.11. No complaints or queries regarding any discrepancies in or verification of the final results of candidates shall, on any account be entertained on expiry of the period of one month from the date of declaration of result. Such queries, if any must however be addressed to the controller of examination through the center superintendent concerned within the stipulated period.12. Fees of Rs.150/- will be charged for verification of result, as per examination. Request for verification of result will not be entered after the period of one month from the date of declaration of result.
