These problems, compounded by improper

lifestyle practices have led to imbalances in the body.

Over time, these imbalances have caused a host

of – serious diseases, allergies and auto-immune disorders.

Introduction to Rasashastra


Contemporary systems of medicine, although very effective in suppressing the symptoms of such problems, -

has not yet found permanent solutions to most

of these difficult and so-called incurable diseases.

It is a fact, that in last few centuries in India,

Vaidyas have been able to help many of patients from all over the world suffering from difficult and incurable diseases and all this was possible due to the use of Rasa preparations.

Rasa Shastra, however, provides a genuine

solution.

Some features that make Rasa Shastra preparations

more advantageous than the other preparations are:

They work in smaller doses and are faster in action.

If taken with honey, Rasa preparations get absorbed

quickly into the body’s deepest tissues.

They act as a metabolic catalyst - carrying the

potency of the herbs they contain directly - to the cellular level.

The efficacy of some Rasa preparations increases over

time and hence they have no expiry date.

The availability and preservation of Rasa medicines is

much easier than herbal preparations.

The taste of Rasa medicine is generally neutral and

easy to administer.

Aushadha Kala

• Ayurveda refers to AGNI (Jatharagni) and the Dravya processed by it –

• The Rasaaushadhi – absorbs commonly in the oral mucosa with the vehicle of Honey (monosaccharide) - No Jatharagni Intervention

• Mayuracandrika bhasma is given on empty stomach – also no Agni Intervention

• Metalic preparations (Loha) given with Ghrita is better for long action - Require jatharagni

• Parpati – requires the Agni intervention and given before to the food – Pragbhaktam / Antarabhaktam

• The dravyas of volatile in nature are given after food for lasting effect – Eg. Srikaraamodini

Not added “Salt” in “Rasam” even though fragmented with Asafetida and Cumin is like “Forest Flower” in the “Deep Forest”

No appreciation - Never it gets . . . The same way – in General Practice of Ayurveda

with out Rasa-Aushadhi practice is incomplete. Though Rasaaushadhi is said as best by text –

not practiced by a GAP is like a “Forest Flower”
