Opening Scenerio of
Bhagavadgita in Chapter
-1 is a dramatic conflict
of Arjuna

ARJUNA’S PREDICAMENT
Sense of duty Vs
affection & respect for
Bhisma and Drona
Duty Vs Ethics

Killing was involved
Blood stream to be the result
Both these were no problem for him
As he had waged wars & won all of them

A few days ago – Gograhaïa
war
He had won over all of them
single handed
He was not afraid

THE BACK DROP
He was born with a Silver spoon in his mouth –
Scheming of Duryodhana denied him and the Pandavas the enjoyment
Every thorn he removed from his foot as they moved in the forest with their beloved mother reminded him of the big thorn Duryodhana

The camphor palace
The playing of Dice
Attempt to make Draupadi naked !
Un pardonable act of Duryodhana
Powered by the plots of Ùakuni !

His promise to Yudhiúûhira
Confidence on his own
valour
The divine & most
powerful astras

He was all set to finish the enemies
His unspoken promise to Draupadi
That she will be back to her normalcy

He was educated with values
Unlike the modern education
All to be done according to the values

What is then the root cause for his
predicament ?
Why should he be shattered ?

Why should his body tremble?
Why should his Ganãèva slip down?
Why should his mind become confused?
That is the dramatic back drop of Gita

CONFLICT PRESENTATION
There was no problem until he came to the battle field
He wanted to know as to who all he had to kill Køúïa drives him to the battle front
He sees Døoïa, Bhèsma & Køpa – the acáryás!
That triggers his conflict

He had also seen them in the Gograhaïa battle -
What is special about it now?

Earlier Bhèúma, Droïa & Køpa
did not know that they are
going for a battle with
pandavas
Though they had some inkling
of it!

Now they have clearly sided Duryodhana
The wisdom of Bhiúma was supreme
Arjuna considered him as the wisest

He knew that he was the most beloved disciple, pet student of Droïa
He also has joined the camp of Duryodhana
Køpa, he knew was kula-guru with clear vision of Dharma, values and knew what is right & what is wrong.
They all cannot be wrong

He therefore concluded
He should be wrong!

His intellectual arguments supported him
What is the objective of this war?
Getting kingdom, for wealth!
All selfishness – killing our won people!
ARGUMENT – 1

• Even if we get the kingdom,
• How can we reap the fruits without their most loved and respected ones,
• Without Bhèúma, Droïa, Køpa!
ARGUMENT – 2

• After all wars create bloodshed
• Innocent people are killed for no fault of them
• The society bereft of men, women will have problem -
• Varïa Sankara is obvious!
• A social disaster – we are creating !
ARGUMENT – 3

Are not love, compassion, affection higher values?
Dharma is featured by oeve, o³ee & oceWhat are we doing !
Away from path of Dharma
ARGUMENT – 4

Confusion at mental level
Nervous tremors
Collapsing down unable to stand at body level
RESULT

Brought up in a good family with teachings of yoga & spiritual lore
He knew that there was an answer
He knew Køúïa was a teacher of great wisdom
He seeks the solution taking him as his guru
SOLUTION

THE MESSAGE FOR ALL OF US
Conflicts arise in everyone’s life
It is mandatory to understand the higher secrets of life
Guru’s role comes here
Openness of mind if not total surrender is a must for student
ARJUNA’S LOT IS EVERYONE’S LOT

Many other conflicts also can torture us
Teachings of Gita give us the total wisdom

Teaching – 1
Total knowledge base of our existence
Brahman - Eternal, All pervasive, Beyond words
The layers of our pure consciousness/ existence
Ever changing body
CHAPTER -2 - A SUMMARY OF GITA

What is the relation between the two?
As all
Ornaments are made of Gold
Pots are of Clay
Waves are of H2O
Matter of Energy
Body is made of Brahman

It is only changing of clothes
Is the cycle which all of us go through
Killing is no annihilation not a total destruction
Birth
Life
Death

In our body we are killing
millions of external germs,
Do we grieve for it?
We find it a necessity!
We find a billion cells in our
body destroyed everyday! Do
we grieve for it?
We don’t know the facts!

Creation - sustenance and destruction
Is the law of the COSMOS
Do we know this?

Hence you have no case for
getting melancholy - stuck
for killing the enemies in
front of you!THIS IS THE TOTAL KNOWLEDGE BASE

From this total knowledge
base non can destroy you
and you cannot destroy
others and NONE CAN
DESTROY ANY ONE
WE ALL ARE ETERNAL

TEACHING – 2 DHARMA VIEW POINT
You have no point to shiver even if you look from the point of
Dharma
The dharma for a warrior is to fight and win

The makers of Dharma knew that wars cause bloodshed,
Varna Sankara, etc,
Why did they prescribe wars?
Why immune system is the body wars incessantly?

To keep the body healthy !
To keep the society free from
terrorism
A strong defense is necessary
- war is a must

Do we not punish a murder?
A terrorist?
Do we leave him in the name of
Affection?
Compassion?
Love?

Not only the terrorist but his entire group needs
punishment!
A Bin Laden is not just punished!
Similarly the whole gang of Duryodhana, his supporters whoever have come need
to be won over.

What about the wisdom of Bhiúma, Droïa, & Køpa?
They adhere to their Dharma.
They are indebted to their king.
They have no choice.
At best they can suggest.

The Bush, Supreme
Advisers can advice
As president of US he had the say
To destroy Saddam Hussein

Soldiers, army chiefs all do their duty –

If you win – you enjoy the

Secret of three guïas – lecemed, jpemed &
melJe
We do our actions based on these three guïas
IN RAJAS – we do action for name, fame & money for showing our Ego.

Secret of three guïas – lecemed, jpemed &
melJeIN SATTVA – Our action is governed by
Compassion, Love, Affection featured by l³eeie & mesJee Renunciation and service

But we have to go beyond the Guïas and the Dualities
$ewiegC³e efJe<e³ee Jesoe:
efvem$ewiegC³ees YeJeepe&gve
Move from melJe to
efvel³emelJe, eternal good

For that you need to convert all Karma to Karma Yoga
Duty is the basis
Duty is detached action
Hence is higher than Satvic actions in the value system.
keÀce&C³esJeeefOekeÀejmles ………………

Doing duty sincerely without attachment to our own name, fame, money (ego)
Love, compassion, affection (Emotion)
Good & bad, misery or happiness (Intellect)
Body its survival or death (body)
Is the key to become efvel³emelJemLe
Is the higher Dharma

“It is good to be born in a church
but not to die in it”
It is good to do sattvic action but
you need to go beyond
Act as a Sthitaprajna
