    I first of all offer my obeisances to all the Vaiavasaspiring to serve our beloved Spiritual Master, OViupd rla Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-GoswmMahrj. I then offer my obeisances at his lotus feetholding in my heart the faith that he is Lord NitynandaPrabhus non-different manifestation mercifully

    extending his shelter to the wayward souls of this worldsuch as my fallen self.By the grace of r Nitynanda Prabhu, and the

    inspiration of rla Govinda Mahrj, this yearsNitynanda Trayoda festival marks the inauguration ofthe newly constructed r Hi Pait Padmvat-devSmti Kuja of the r Chaitanya Sraswata Knulana

    Sagha in Brchandrapur, West Bengal, the divineappearance place of Lord Nitynanda Prabhu.

    At the request of the devotees organising thefestivities this English edition of the r r NitynandaMahimmtam has been compiled for the satisfaction ofour Spiritual Master, the Vaiavas and all those who

    aspire for the all-important mercy of Lord NitynandaPrabhu. Expanding upon the Mahs original publicationof the r r Nitynanda Mahimmtam in BengaliI have collected an English representation of its originalcontents plus a novel compilation of Lord NitynandaPrabhus divine glories as they have been expressedby his divine grace rla Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-

    Goswm Mahrj. Moreoever, in an effort to represent theontological method of understanding Lord NitynandaPrabhus transcendental identity and Pastimes as taughtby rla Bhakti Rakak rdhar Dev-Goswm Mahrj,I have structured the compilation so as to draw attentionto a particular sequence of conceptualisation beginning

To further this end, also included is asummary study of the revealed Scriptures delineatingthe essential truths about Lord Nitynanda Prabhuaccording to the progression of thought stressed by rlaBhakti Rakak rdhar Dev-Goswm Mahrj in hisrman Nitynanda Dvdaakam, and explained by rlaBhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswm Mahrj. My hope

    is that the attentive readers will imbibe this progressive,faith-yielding understanding and thereby be moved toinvite Lord Nitynanda Prabhus profound grace andsuper-excellent gift further into the core of their hearts.

    As I present this offering I must plainly state that anyfaults or unbecoming aspects of this presentation shouldonly be attributed to my inevitablely flawed efforts in

    compilation, and need never give rise to disrepute forthe expressions of our divine guardians. Furthermore,any and all redeeming quality and dedication-inspiringbeauty appreciated herein is surely to be consideredthe exclusive property of our divine guardians, and allhonour must be offered to their self-revealing lotus feet.

Hemaintains the entire universe in His expansion ofKrodakay Viu, residing in the hearts of all livingbeings; His glories are sung by the Vedic Hymns as theGarbhodakay Viu of thousands and thousands ofheadssahasra-ir purua; within His womb (garbha)

    unlimited universes are situated; He is the Master ofthe Lord of material natureKraodakay Viuinwhose womb unlimited universes are situated and bywhom the entire multitude ofjva souls are sheltered.

In the great transcendentalkingdom Paravyoma Vaikuha He expands into the formof Sakaraa of the first quadruple expansion, in whichform He ever expands the ecstacy of the divine Pastimesof r Hari in the conscious plane of pure existence(uddha-sattva); within the jvas He presides as the ego,and sometimes He shows His divine Pastimes just likean ordinaryjva.

    above that plane, in Mathur He enjoys His Pastimesin the form known as Prbhava-vilsa; and in Vrajapur,He is known as Balarma, the ultimate source of allIncarnations, and He sportively plays with His youngerbrother, His all-in-allr Ka.

    of the most supreme and intense ecstasy. The love thatHe distributes carries an inconceivable importit is ofsuch ecstasy that the sdhus who may experience onlya hint of its fragrance, hatefully cast away all thoughtof liberation in the One as propounded in the Vedas.Furthermore, His Avatras, who bestow the divine loveof service in the transcendental majesty of Vaikuha,are but expansions of His expansion.

    (6) O my dear heart! Please serve forever the lotus feetof that glorious giver of Gaura-Ka, who is known asr Nitynandachandra. When Lord Nitynanda Prabhuwas a small boy, He performed supremely sweet and

    charming Pastimes in the village of Ekachakr invokingthe deepest heartfelt happiness in His mother, father,relatives, and close friends; and later after a sannysarrived at the house of young Nitynanda and prayed toHi Pait for his son, Lord Nitynanda was placedin the hands of the travelling sdhu and wanderedthroughout the length and breadth of India visiting

    sacred places of pilgrimage.

While wandering throughoutthe holy places His heart was taken over with ecstacyby the association of the crown jewel ofsannysins rlaMdhavendra Pur, and He came to Gaura Dhm, theholy abode of r Gaurga. There He waited at thehouse of Nandanchryya for the self-revelation ofthe golden Lord Gaurasundaras divine Pastimes withHis associates headed by rvs hkur.

    (8) My heart, please constantly give thyself to the divineservice of that gracious bestower of Gaura-Ka,r Nitynandachandra! It was He who received thedivine instruction from Gaurachandra to deliver all

    souls by bestowing divine love through the Holy Name.Showing the extremity of His divine love, He deliveredthose two fallen wine-drinking brhmaas (Jagi andMadhi) ruined by the degraded inauspicious nature ofkali-yuga even after they had attacked Him and bloodwas oozing from His body.

    gaura-ka-prada tam(9) Please worship eternally, dear heart, that graciousbestower of Gaura-Ka, r Nitynandachandra.r Gaurga Mahprabhu ordered all His belovedfollowers to accept with worshipful reverence any smallpiece of the kaupn (loin cloth) of Nitynanda Prabhu,

    the topmost of personalities above all social normsand strictures (avadhta). Even if He is seen to touch animmoral drunken woman or yavan He is nonethelessworshipable by all the gods headed by Brahm. AndHe is the beloved leader among those exalted devoteeswho lovingly captivate the heart of r Chaitanyadev.

    (10) O my heart, please eternally render divineservice unto that bestower of Gaura-Ka, rNitynandachandra. r Gaurachandra manifested Hissannysa-ll for the purpose of delivering the persons ofwarped logic deviated by exploitation and renunciation(karmma and jna). He delivered them by making themall chant the Holy Name of Ka. After Mahprabhus

    acceptance ofsannysa, Nitynanda Prabhu followed Himfaithfully like a shadow wherever He wentover land,jungle and swamp. Nitynanda Prabhu is the fulfiller ofthe hearts wishes of r Gaurachandra.

    (11) Day and night r Chaitanya Mahprabhu wasintoxicated, tasting the sweetest love divine in thedeep heart of rmat Rdhr. In that condition,He instructed Nitynanda Prabhu and His associatesto distribute the Holy Name of Ka, r Ka-nma.But r Nitynanda Prabhu then went to Gaua-dea

    and profusely distributed the priceless treasure of thetrue devotees: the Holy Name of r Gaura, r Gaura-nma. O my dear heart, please give yourself in serviceforever unto that gracious benefactor of Gaura-Kar Nitynandachandra.

    gaura-ka-prada tam(12) Dear Lord, O Nitynanda Prabhu, emperor of theassociates of rman Mahprabhu! Graciously grant thisfallen soul firm and faithful devotion for r Gaurga,the supreme embodiment of the taste of the sweetnectar of the ecstacy of r r Rdh-Kas Pastimes.

    By neglecting the lotus feet of Nitynanda Prabhuall sdhana or bhajanaspiritual practices, servicesor worshipbecome an illusion, just like a dream. Iworship and adore with all my heart that gracious giverof r Gaura, the benevolent bestower of His shelter tothe fallen soulsr Nitynandachandra.

    of progress and the speciality of rla Guru Mahrj.His second loka is above brahma-loka:

    O my heart, please eternally render divineservice to that gracious giver of Gaura-KarNitynandachandra.     This kind of presentation we see in the style of rlaKa Ds Kavirj Goswm. Kavirj Goswm composed

    five lokas in r Chaitanya-charitmta about NitynandaPrabhus identity and divine manifestation as Mla-Sakaraa,the Supreme Personality of Godheads second expansion.And why is it? Because he had felt the divine form ofNitynanda Prabhu! He and Vndvan Ds hkurhave tried to give us feelings, transcendental feelings,

    about Nitynanda Prabhus super-position. Before wehear about Nitynanda Prabhus activities we shouldntfeel anything mundane about Nitynanda Prabhu.His character is composed within Goloka Vndvan ofParavyoma-Dhm, within the highest aspect of the spiritualworld. He is actually the Origin, the Supreme Personalityof Godhead, coming down, down, down, all the wayto the form of Kirodakay Viu, the Supreme Soul

    living inside of everything in the material universe. ButNitynanda Prabhu is a non-different form of r Balarmof Goloka Vndvan and Mla-Sakaraa of Vaikuha.rla Guru Mahrj and the chryyas want to give thisconsciousness to the conditioned souls to protect themfrom making any atmosphere of mundanity

    Then rla Guru Mahrj continued,

    By the mercy of that Nitynanda Prabhu we canvery easily get that Ka-prema which gives us alltranscendental happiness, joyfulness and ecstasy,everything! Wherever there is a little bit of that Ka-prema all the wealth of the transcendental worldappears.

    Two Prabhus and One Mah-Prabhu

    In the Scriptures it is written:

    eka mahprabhu, ra prabhu dui-janadui prabhu seve mahprabhura charaa(r Chaitanya-charitmta: di-ll, 7.14)

    There is one Mahprabhu, He is the famous rGaurgasundar of r Nabadwp Dhm, who laterbecame known as r Ka Chaitanya. Adwaita Prabhu

    and Nitynanda Prabhu, both are Prabhu (Master) butMahprabhu is Mah-Prabhu (the Supreme Master). BothAdwaita chryya and Nitynanda Prabhu very happilyserved Mahprabhu and spread His conception of Kaconsciousness throughout the universe during Theirdivine Pastimes. Adwaita Prabhu prayed constantlywith tears, Ganges water and Tulas leaves for Lord

    Young Nitynanda

    Nitynanda Prabhu was born in Rha-dea, nearBurdwan in the Brbhm district of Bengal, in thevillage of Ekachakr. Later that village became knownas Garbhavs and at present is very famously knownas Vrachandrapur. Vrachandra Prabhu was the son ofNitynanda Prabhu and to honour his name the village

    is famous as Vrachandrapur. Gaurga Mahprabhualso went there, so everyone worships that place. ThereNitynanda Prabhu took birth as the only son of Hismother Padmvat-dev and His father Hi PaitOjh. After Nitynanda Prabhu had taken birth allauspiciousness came to Rha-dea, it was enrichedso much with Ka-bhakti. He grew up there with the

    children of the village and His Pastimes were all verymiraculous. All the children of Ekachakr would playwith Nitynanda Prabhu but He would only play Ka-ll. Just like Balarm played as a child in Vndvan,Nitynanda Prabhus childhood very similarly happenedin Rha-dea as He enacted so many Pastimes ofKa-ll with the other children of the village. Many wonderfuldescriptions of that have been given in the Scriptures.

    Taken by a Sannys

    When Nitynanda Prabhu was just twelve years old asannyscame to His fathers house. As soon as the sannys

    saw young Nitynanda he immediately understood thatHe was not an ordinary boy and felt he could not leaveNitynanda Prabhus association. The sannys faintedto see Nitynanda Prabhu and finally asked His father,Hi Pait, I am going to many pilgrimage places, andit is my prayer that you give this boy to me as an associate

    servitor. Hearing this was like a thunderbolt to HiPait. Hi Pait was beside himself to hear that andhe fainted. Nitynanda Prabhu was the very joy of hislife. But at that time religion was very strong within themind of everyone. It was the custom that if any sannys,especially any Vaiava sannys, wants anything, onesson or even ones own life or anything, the people aregiving everything to that sannys. Nitynanda Prabhu

    was more than life to Hi Pait but that was thecustom. Hi Pait felt he could never leave hisonly son Nitynanda but he also felt he could not say,No, I cannot leave Nitynanda. So finally he considered,The sannys has prayed and we must fulfill his desire.He could not deny the sannyss demand and finally hegave Nitynanda Prabhu to that sannys.

    After giving away Nitynanda Hi Pait was likea pgal man (loke bale ho ojh haila pgala, CB 2.3.98).He became half-mad in separation and mother Padmvatfainted but still they gave away Nitynanda Prabhu.

    In this way Nitynanda Prabhu left His house whenHe was twelve years old. His Pastimes were miraculous

    and He was an Avadht from childhood. He did notcare, He went with that sannys and toured the wholeof India. Some say that sannys was Mdhavendra Pur,and some say he was another sannys but it is certainthat later Nitynanda met Mdhavendra Pur in thepilgrimage places. It is not clear who the sannys was

    but no doubt he was a great personality and NitynandaPrabhu served him. We think it was MdhavendraPur but later we know that Nitynanda Prabhu andMdhavendra Puri could understand each other easilyand Mdhavendra Pur accepted Nitynanda Prabhu, bydivine will, as his disciple.

    Where is Ka?

    Meeting Mdhavendra Pur was a turning point inNitynanda Prabhus life and after that He went toso many pilgrimage places. He saw all the pilgrimageplaces in the ecstasy of Ka-prema. EverywhereHe went He gave Ka-prema but He Himself was hiding.Nitynanda Prabhu was perhaps one year senior in ageto Mahprabhu and before joining in MahprabhusPastimes, Nitynanda Prabhu did not reveal much ofHis actual nature. But He was always thinking Himselfto be Balarm and His activities were like that. He wasnot hiding that. Finally He went to Vndvan, whereHe searched, Where is Ka? Where is Ka?

    He asked the braja-bss where He could find Ka andKa Himself in the form of a human came to Him andsaid: I am not here, I have now appeared in a householdin Nabadwp. Then clearly the feelings manifestedwithin the heart of Nitynanda Prabhu, Now Mytime has come to join ChaitanyadevNimi Pait,in Nabadwp Dhm. He knew that Nima Pait was

    really Ka Himself.

    TheAvadht

    When rpd Nitynanda Prabhu first came to NabadwpDhm no one could understand who He was or where

    He had come from. No one could say whether He was abrahmchr, aghasta, a vnaprastha or a sannys. Peoplesaw all these forms in Him. At that time many peoplecame to criticise Nitynanda Prabhus divine characterbecause He lived under no rules or regulations. ActuallyNitynanda Prabhus nature was to be an Avadht.

    The ordinary idea of an Avadht has been given in theVaiava Tantra,

    anta kta bahi aivasabhy vaiavo matann-vea-dhar kolvicharanti mah tale

    (Vaiava Tantra)

    He appears to be internally like a kta, a worshipperof material energy. Externally he appears like a followerof Lord iva but still participates in the assemblies ofVaiavas and seems to appreciate Vaiava thought. Hedoes not care for any particular dress, or follow any rulesor regulations, as He wanders throughout the world.

    But Nitynanda Prabhu was fully transcendentaland should never be confused with anyone mundane.His nature as anAvadht can be understood in this way,In His heart (anta) is playing Rdh-Ka (uddha-kta) and His form externally (bahi) is like Lord iva(aiva). When He joins an assembly His mentality isfully that of a Vaiava. When He is traveling sometimes

    He wears cloth, sometimes He wears no cloth, sometimesHe wears many gold ornaments, jewels and rich garmentsand sometimes He wears sannys dress.

    Really, Avadht means one who is self-controlled,who is not controlled by Scriptural rules or regulations.Whatever He does, that is always right and perfect.He will do anything and everything and is never to be

    considered wrong. If He is seen to be wrong externallyin the eyes of others then that is also right. NitynandaPrabhu became known by everyone asAvadht. Everyonecalled Him Avadht. The people even forgot thatHis name was Nitynanda. They would say, OhAvadhtis coming.

    Waiting for Nitynanda

    Nitynanda Prabhu appeared to the common peopleas if He were a madAvadht as He came to Nabadwp.At that time, Mahprabhu had also came back fromGay Dhm. Mahprabhu started performing sakrttanevery night in rvas Paits house and showed His

    Ka-prema to the devotees assembly. Adwaita Prabhudeclared that Mahprabhu was Bhagavn. rvas Pait,Gaddhar Pait, all the devotees everywhere declaredthat Mahprabhu was Bhagavn, and Mahprabhu alsoshowed them that. When the devotees understood thedivine form of Mahprabhu they were very happy andthey understood that the Lord Himself had appeared

    for bestowing His mercy to the world through Harinm-sakrttan. But Mahprabhu was not showing His fullmanifestation as the giver of Ka-prema. Nobody knewwhy Mahprabhu wasnt widely starting His sakrttanmovement, but when Nitynanda came they understoodthe cause of Mahprabhus behavior. Mahprabhu hadbeen waiting for Nitynanda.

    Mahprabhus Dream

    Nitynanda Prabhu came to Nabadwp searching,Where is Nimi Pait? Where is Nima Pait? WhenHe understood that Mahprabhu was living in Jagannth

    Miras house He hid Himself in Mypur to wait andsee if Mahprabhu would discover Him. He went to thehouse of Mahprabhus dear devotee Nandan chryyaand hid Himself, telling Nandan chryya, Do not tellanyone anything, I want to see what Ka will do. Thatmorning Mahprabhu told His devotees,

    Last night I saw in My dream a chariot marked with theflag of a palm tree, in the chariot of Baladeva Himself.Within the chariot there was one mahpurua, great

    personality, and He was searching for My house. Thatchariot came in front of My house and met with Me.I have seen that mahpurua. I am thinking that BaladevaHimself has taken the form of a mahpurua and He hasalready come to Nabadwp. You go and search whereHe is! He must be somewhere in Nabadwp. He hasappeared here and I want to see if He will discover Me.

    The devotees searched everywhere, but they could notfind Nitynanda Prabhu. They were thinking it wassimply Mahprabhus dream and they came back andtold Mahprabhu, We could not find Him anywhere.But Mahprabhu said, It is not only a dream, it is atruthful dream. Nitynanda is very powerful and He ishiding Himself. It is a very hidden matter so I shall go tofind Him.

    Ecstatic Embrace

    Then Mahprabhu went directly to Nandan chryyasbhavan and there Mahprabhu and His devotees saw

    Nitynanda Prabhu seated on the veranda of the house.Nitynanda had seen Mahprabhu come and could notmove because His heart was so full of ecstasy and thejoy of Ka-prema. When Mahprabhu saw NitynandaHis heart was also full with the joy of Ka-prema andHe felt very much intoxicated. They both fainted. Then

    Mahprabhu came forward and embraced Nitynandaand They both fainted again. After some time theyregained their senses and they cried in the Name ofKa. Nitynanda Prabhu said, I went to Vndvanbut Ka was not there. Then someone told Me Youwere here in Nabadwp, so I have come, now I beg You,Please save Me.

    Nitynanda Prabhu surrendered to Mahprabhu and

    Mahprabhu embraced Nitynanda Prabhu with fulllove, affection, honour, everything.

    Both Mahprabhu and Nitynanda Prabhu tookTheir divine forms and the devotees understood thatNitynanda Prabhu was not an ordinary sannys orordinary brahmchr. They did not know Nitynanda

    Prabhu at the time but they saw Mahprabhusexpression and Nitynanda Prabhus expression and theyimmediately understood that They had both appearedfrom the divine abode. In many places in the Scripturesit is said that Mahprabhu is non-different from Ka,abhinna-swarp, and in that way they also consideredNitynanda Prabhu.

    Mah-Sakrttan

    That was the first day that Nitynanda Prabhu joined inMahprabhus party and up to His last days NitynandaPrabhu preached Chaitanya Mahprabhus glories. From

    that day Mahprabhu and Nitynanda Prabhu startedmah-sakrttan. Mahprabhu appeared to inauguratesakrttan-yaj, sacrifice in the form of sakrttan(congregational chanting) as described in the rmad-Bhgavatam,

    In the age of Kali, persons of fine theistic intellect performthe sacrifice of congregational chanting (sakrttan-yaj)

    to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantlysings nothing but the Names of Ka and describes Hisglories with great pleasure. He is Ka Himself appearingin a molten gold complexion born from supreme divineemotion. With His personal beauty, divine Name, all-merciful nature and benevolent associates He destroysthe darkness of ignorance in the mundane world.

    Mahprabhu Himself gave the gist of the nature ofHarinm-sakrttan,

    cheto-darpaa-mrjana bhava-mah-dvgni-nirvpaa

    reya-kairava-chandrik-vitaraavidy-vadh-jvanam

    nandmbudhi-vardhana prati-padaprmtsvdana

    sarvtma-snapana para vijayater-ka-sakrttanam

    (r Chaitanya-charitmta: Antya-ll, 20.12)

    May r Ka-sakrttan be all-victorious in its pristineglory! This congregational chanting of the Holy Namesof the Lord cleanses the looking-glass of consciousness,extinguishes the raging forest fire of material existence,and spreads the benediction moon-rays that cause thelotus of the heart to bloom. This chanting is pure ecstasy,

    it is the flavour of full nectar at every moment, bathingand cooling the entire self. That param vijayate r-Ka-sakrttanam, that supremely victorious sakrttan ofMahprabhu, started with Nitynanda Prabhus arrivaland in such a glorious way continued day by day in rNabadwp Dhm.

    Mahprabhus Preaching Party

    Already Adwaita chryya had joined Mahprabhu.Even before Mahprabhu, Harids hkur verybeautifully and intensely preached Ka consciousnessand the Hare Ka Mahmantra. Previously, Harids

    hkur had many tests in his preaching but ultimatelyeven the Muslim governor came under his influence.But when Harids hkur saw Mahprabhu revealHis divine form of a religious preacher Harids hkur joined Mahprabhus mission. Then when NitynandaPrabhu joined in the party of Mahprabhu, the party ofMahprabhu took full form. Nitynanda Prabhu wasalways intoxicated with Ka-prema and the treasureof Mahprabhus unique gift of divine love. WhenNitynanda Prabhu joined, Mahprabhu wanted topublicly preach Ka consciousness. Harids hkurand Nitynanda Prabhu were very dear friends, bosomfriends. Both were intoxicated with Harinm-sakrttan

    and Mahprabhu chose Nitynanda Prabhu and Haridshkur to begin His preaching programme. He selectedthem to be like military generals because they couldwidely, wholeheartedly and affectionately preach Kaconsciousness in a lovely way.

    Mahprabhus Sacred Order

    Mahprabhu gave them His preaching line,

    jagatera pitka, ye n bhaje bpapit-droh ptakra janma-janma tpa

    Ka is the father of the entire universe, and anyonewho does not respect his father is rebellious and sinfuland therefore subjected to miseries birth after birth.

    Listen, listen, Nitynanda! Listen, Haridsa! Go doorto door and tell everyone they will practise Kaconsciousness! Tell them, Ka consciousness is the

    supreme goal of life, tell them, bolo Ka, bhaja Ka,koro Ka ika, chant the Hare Ka Mahmantra, serveLord Ka and learn the teachings of r Ka. Youwill come back to Me daily in the evening. Nothing elseis necessary for you to do, and whoever will take it witha clean heart, I shall be a slave of them, and whoever willbe anti, I shall punish them. In this way Mahprabhugave orders to Nitynanda Prabhu and Harids hkur

    and started His preaching programme.

    Nitynanda Prabhus Benevolent Nature

    At first Nitynanda Prabhu and Harids hkur startedpreaching to gentle families without any problems butthen they saw Jagi and Mdhi in the road. Jagi and

    Mdhi were prestigious in the city as local adminstratorsof the government, but they were men of very badcharacter. They were always drinking, eating meat anddoing many wrong things. That day they were drinkingin the road in front of everyone. Nitynanda Prabhu hada desperate mood and when He saw Jagi and Mdhi

    seated in the road drinking wine, etc.. NitynandaPrabhu told Harids, These are the perfect persons topurify withHarinm-sakrttan.

    Harids hkur was a wise man, he said, Dont gothere! The whole world is open for You. Why are Yougoing to them? You can preach Mahprabhus conceptionto everyone. You leave them, they are very bad, etc.,

    etc..Nitynanda Prabhu said, This is a perfect target,I must rescue them, then Mahprabhus glory will bemore and more exalted all over the world.

    Harids was also a little aged, he said, You can go,I wont go. If they will chastise You, You may be able

    to run away, but I cannot run. So it will be dangerousfor me. It is not necessary to go there. He was testingthe mind of Nitynanda Prabhu but Nitynanda Prabhusaid, No, this is a first class opportunity for showing thequality of Mahprabhus mercy. You must go with Me.Then they went to Jagi and Mdhi and said, O Jagi!O Mdhi! You are doing so many things but if you chantthe Hare Ka Mahmantra, you will be rescued. Jagi

    and Mdhi were drunk, they threatened Nitynandaand Harids, Oh, You are sannyss and You have comehere trying to teach us? We shall teach You! Get out ofhere, You are nonsense persons. Otherwise we will killYou! Nitynanda again approached them but theycame to beat Nitynanda and Harids. Harids hkurcouldnt run away but he tried. But the drunken Jagi

    and Mdhi were unable to run properly. So Nitynandaand Harids got away by some means. Nitynanda andHarids came back and Harids reported to Mahprabhu,Today somehow I saved my life but I will not go outagain with that pgal (crazy) Nitynanda! Mahprabhusmiled to hear their report knowing what was to come.

    Nitynanda Prabhus Determination

    The next day Nitynanda Prabhu settled, I must giveKa-prema to them. Nitynanda again targeted Jagiand Mdhi. Harids was behind, what shall he do?Mahprabhu had ordered he and Nitynanda to preach

    together. That day they went and again found Jagi andMdhi drinking wine. Nitynanda Prabhu said, Jagiand Mdhi, you can do anything but just chant HareKa! It is the order of Mahprabhu. When Nitynandatold them Mdhi was more drunk and said, Oh, theorder of Mahprabhu! You ran away yesterday but

    today again You have come? Im going to show You!There was a clay wine pot nearby and Mdhi threw itat the head of Nitynanda. The pot cut Him and withblood falling from His head Nitynanda Prabhu said,This is more of Mahprabhus mercy upon Me, andHe again told them, You can beat Me more and more, itis ok, no problem. You have hit Me but I shall excuse that.I forgive you. But you chant Hare Ka! It is the order

    of Mahprabhu. Without a doubt you will be rescued.Mahprabhu said, bolo Ka bhaja Ka koro Ka ik,you please take this religion of Mahprabhu.

    Mdhi said, Now again you are coming to me!You are so energetic, I am going to show You! I shallteach you! Then again Mdhi took a clay wine-pot andwent to throw it at Nitynanda Prabhu, but his brother

    Jagi took his hand and told him, Nonsense! Why areyou chastising this pgal sdhu? He is a sannys. It is notnecessary to hit Him again. Why you are behaving likethis? It is nonsense. Leave him alone! Like this Jagimade some good comments and stopped him.

    Mahprabhus AngerIn the meantime Harids had gone back and givennews to Mahprabhu about what had happened, thatNitynanda Prabhu had been hit and that He did notwant to come back, He was determined to give Harinmand Ka-prema Jagi and Mdhi.

    Then Mahprabhu went there with His full battalionand He saw the blood on Nitynanda Prabhus head.Mahprabhu was very angry. He forgot His mundaneappearance and He called for His sudaran chakra,(Chakra, chakra, chakraPrabhu ke ghane ghane, CBMadhya-ll: 13.185). Chakra! Chakra! Chakra!, He called

    out again and again. He wanted to cut off the heads of Jagi and Mdhi. Everyone saw the chakra followingbehind Mahprabhu as He chastised Jagi and Mdhi,I shall kill you! You have dealt wrongly with NitynandaPrabhu.

    Nitynanda Prabhu took the lotus feet of Mahprabhuand said, What are You doing? This is not dvpar-yuga.It is kali-yuga. Here tolerance and humility are necessary.

    If You want to bestow Your mercy upon others, throughtolerance and humility You can do that. You cannot usethe chakra in this Avatr. This incarnation is not for that.Mahprabhu said, I cannot tolerate this type of activityof the asuras. Nitynanda replied, But both of them arenot offenders. Mdhi is an offender, he hit Me. But Jagirescued Me from him. One saved Me from the others

    stupidity.

    Mahprabhus Sympathy

    After hearing that Jagi saved Nitynanda, Mahprabhuexcused Jagi. Jagi took the Hare Ka Mahmantra and

    fell down thinking of his previous karmma. He took thelotus feet of Mahprabhu, Mahprabhu, please forgivemy offences. There is no other way for me. Mahprabhuembraced Jagi and then Jagi received Ka-prema.

    The circumstances were very heavy but Mdhi alsobecame a little conscious by seeing Jagis activities.Mdhi said, I have done so much sinful work but

    Jagi has got relief from all his sins, why not me?Nitynanda Prabhu said, Mahprabhu, please forgivetheir offences. Then Mdhi took the lotus feet ofMahprabhu, but Mahprabhu said, I cannot do thesame for you as I did for Jagi. You go to NitynandaPrabhu. If He will give you forgiveness, then you will get

    My embrace. Otherwise, it is impossible for Me to acceptyou. If Nitynanda Prabhu will give you forgiveness youwill get that result of the Hare Ka Mahmantra. ThenMdhi took Nitynanda Prabhus lotus feet. NitynandaPrabhu embraced Mdhi, then Mahprabhu embracedMdhi and his sin was cleared. Jagi and Mdhi becamepure devotees and they cried so much, We have done somuch wrong, etc., etc.. Jagi and Mdhi then chanted

    Hare Ka and danced with Ka-prema.

    Patita-Pvana Nitynanda

    To see Mahprabhus Pastimes as the rescuer of theconditioned souls, the general people were so astonishedand they glorified Mahprabhu so much. Mahprabhusaid to Jagi and Mdhi,

    prabhu bole,tor ra n karis ppajagi mdhi bole,ra nre vpa

    (r Chaitanya-Bhgavat: Madhya-ll, 13.225)

    Jagi and Mdhi, if you do not do this again, and youleave the activities you did before, I can forgive youroffences forever. From this day you try to practise Kaconsciousness and you will be so glorious. Now chantHare Ka!

    Jagi and Mdhi said, ra nre vpa, we will neverdo that again, You have excused us. We will follow what

    You say as our duty. Jagi and Mdhi then askedMahprabhu, Please give some service to us, acceptus as Your servitors. Mahprabhu and NitynandaPrabhu said, You chant Hare Ka, give this HareKa Mahmantra to everyone, and do Vaiava-sevby sweeping the pathway by the Ganges and keeping it

    clean. Then with a clean heart you can proceed. You willhave no need to fear Yamarj. Jagi and Mdhi everyday did that, and that place is still known as Mdhi-gh. Our parikram party crosses the Ganges at thatplace. All the demigods danced to see the rescue of Jagiand Mdhi. All the Pastimes of the Lord Nitynandaand Mahprabhu are for rescuing the conditioned jva-souls. In the Pastimes of rescuing Jagi and Mdhi we

    can see that Nitynanda Prabhu is more merciful thaneven Mahprabhu.

    The Ever-Worshipable Nitynanda

    Nitynanda Prabhus character was like that of anintoxicated madman. He was physically very strong

    like Lord Balarm. If He saw a bull in the roadHe would charge the bull and jump over him or hopon his back and ride him. He would jump in and swimwith crocodiles in the Ganges even after Hed seencrocodiles swimming there. Sometimes He would visitthe house of rvas Pait and take breast milk from

    his wife. Nitynanda Prabhu had so many miraculouscharacteristics!     Nitynanda Prabhu can do anything and everything.Even if you see Nitynanda Prabhu mixing with verybad society, if you see Him intoxicated with a drunkenwoman in one arm and a bottle of wine in His other arm,know that He has divine character. If Lord Brahm, thecreator of the universe, will see Him at that time he willfall down and pay full daavat praams with his fourheads to the lotus feet of Nitynanda Prabhu. This is

    Nitynanda Prabhus inconceivable divine character.He was the protector of the society of MahprabhuChaitanyadev. He was all-in-all.

    Mahprabhu, Nitynanda Prabhu, Adwaita Prabhu,Gaddhar Pait, rvas hkur and all the otherdevotees of Mahprabhu every day led thousands ofpeople in Harinn-sakrttan, and the Pacha-Tattvadistributed the Harinm Mahmantra in this mundaneworld. Chnd Kz was delivered and so many thingshappened in Nabadwp. At one function Mahprabhugave permission for Nitynanda Prabhu to hold a

    Vysa-pj ceremony. Nitynanda Prabhu did that pjbut He gave the final garland to Mahprabhu, therebyshowing Mahprabhus glories. Mahprabhu chantedthe Holy Name of Lord Ka: Hare Ka Hare KaKa Ka Hare Hare, Hare Rma Hare Rma RmaRma Hare Hare. This was Chaitanya Mahprabhus

    preaching, but more than that, He was the non-differentform of the Hare Ka MahmantraHe was the non-different form of r r Rdh-Ka.

    r Chaitanya Mahprabhu bestowed His mercy tothe general people and He wanted to rescue the jva-souls all over the world. For that He decided, I shalltake sannys. Nitynanda Prabhu is the main pillar ofMahprabhus preaching of Ka consciousness, andwhen Mahprabhu took sannys Nitynanda Prabhuaccompanied Him. Mahprabhu circled Rha-dea forthree days, and Nitynanda Prabhu eventually broughtHim to Adwaita chryyas house. achmt, Adwaitachryya, and the other devotees gave their overflowing

    Ka-prema to the people. Then Mahprabhu went toPur. Nitynanda Prabhu stayed with Mahprabhu likea guardian. Nitynanda Prabhu had travelled before andHe recited the glories of Sak Gopl for Mahprabhu asthey travelled to Pur.

    Why do You need a Daa? Just before entering Pur Dhm, Mahprabhu bathedin the river at hranl. While He was bathingNitynanda Prabhu broke Mahprabhus sannysdaam. It was an eka-daa and Nitynanda Prabhu

    broke it into three pieces and threw it in the river.Mahprabhu had taken sannys and He showed inHis Pastimes much care in following the rules andregulations of a sannys very strictly. He showedHis anger to Nitynanda Prabhu and said, I haveonly one possession, My sannys daam, and You

    have broken that and thrown it away! NitynandaPrabhu did not care about anything. He said, Why doYou need to carry a daam? You are Ka Himself,what need do You have for a daam? Mahprabhusaid, I do not want to travel with you all. I shall goalone. Will you all go first, or I shall go first? They

    replied, You go first and we shall go behind. ThenMahprabhu very quickly ran to Lord Jagannthand fainted in the Jagannth Temple. You know thathistory. Srvabhauma Bhachryya took His body tohis home. Nitynanda Prabhu immediately assessedthe situation and understood that Mahprabhu was

    at Srvabhauma Bhachryyas house. He went toSrvabhaumas house, met with Mahprabhu, andlater He went to see Lord Jagannth. In this wayMahprabhu started preaching in Pur Dhm withNitynanda Prabhu and others.

    Nitynanda Prabhu

    The Merciful Lord of allJva-Souls.Nitynanda Prabhu accepted everyone, butMahprabhu would chastise those who were offensive.Mahprabhu showed some caution in distributingKa-nma and Ka-prema. Mahprabhu followedthe rules and regulations of sannys life very strictly

    and because of this Mahprabhu could not give shelterto offenders. When Mahprabhu went to South IndiaHe took Kliya Ka Ds with Him. In r Chaitanya-charitmta he is referred to as Kla Ka Ds.On their tour Kliya Ka Ds suffered somedisturbance with some women and Mahprabhurescued him from that. Later when they returned to

    Jagannth Pur Mahprabhu said, I want to leave thisboy Kliya Ka Ds, he was irresponsible and greatlydisturbed our mission. I dont want to keep him with Me.I dont want to be responsible for him. Kliya KaDs, as an eternal parad devotee (of r NitynandaPrabhu), played this role in the Lords drama. At that

    time Nitynanda Prabhu did not leave him, He toldMahprabhu, If You do not want to keep him it is noproblem, I will take him. I will send him to Nabadwp togive news to achmt and the other devotees that Youhave come back from South India.

    In this way Nitynanda Prabhu showed His extrememercy and Kliya Ka Ds spent the rest of his life with

    Nitynanda Prabhu. So even when Mahprabhu is angryNitynanda Prabhu keeps devotees at His lotus feet. Theconditioned souls can have much hope when they seethe very deep and merciful character of r NitynandaPrabhu.

    Liberate Bengal!

    Mahprabhu lived in Pur Dhm with a limited groupof His exclusive devotees. Mahprabhu had so manydevotees but they would come to visit Pur for a fewmonths every year. One year Nitynanda Prabhu cameto Pur Dhm with so many of His followers, all dvdaa-goplas, the incarnations of the twelve cowherd boys

    of Vndvan. They had all been preaching in Bengaland after their visit Mahprabhu ordered NitynandaPrabhu, Go to Rha-dea and preach there. I have sentRpa-Santan to Upper India, I shall see to South India.You look after East India. This is our preaching strategy.You are not to come back here to Pur Dhm. I will bewith You everywhere. Whenever You remember Me I

    shall appear wherever You are. So it is not necessary forYou to come here every year. Please go to Rha-deaand preach. Then Nitynanda Prabhu went back toBengal with all His followers, first to ntipur, then toNabadwp, and from there to other places. He preachedall over Bengal.

    Nitynanda PrabhuThe Highest Distributer of Gaura-prema!

    Both Mahprabhu and Nitynanda Prabhu wereborn in brahmin families. Mahprabhu maintainedthe rules and regulations of sannys life and preached

    Ka consciousness. He distributed the Hare KaMahmantra to everyone and revealed Rdh-Ka-prema in this world. Mahprabhu always wanted to giveKa-prema to the fallen souls who were not offensive.But Nitynanda Prabhus preaching was different, Hedid not care for external formality.

    Nitynanda Prabhu was always intoxicated with Gaura-prema, intoxicated with the Name of rman Mahprabhu.He knew only Mahprabhu and He distributedMahprabhu in an intoxicated mood of devotion. If

    anyone would take shelter of Nitynanda Prabhu, Hewould be very merciful to him. Nitynanda Prabhuwould not look at who was a good man or who was abad man, if anyone wanted to take shelter in the shadeof His lotus feet He would immediately shelter themand send them to Gaurga Mahprabhu, He wouldengage them in the service of Mahprabhu. If anyone

    would once chant jaya achnandana, jaya Gaurahari,Nitynanda Prabhu would think, I am the slave of him,I will give him everything. Who was fallen, who wasnot fallen, who was bad, who was goodHe made noconsideration. Many times Mahprabhu gave manyconditions but Nitynanda Prabhu had no conditions,He only begged, Surrender to Chaitanyadev, surrenderto Gaurgadev, surrender to Nimi Vivambhar, andyou will be rescued! Nitynanda Prabhu looked at apersons faith. Anywhere He saw the light of faith withinsomeone He would bestow His mercy. Faith is the veryfoundation and gist of spiritual life. There was onlydifficulty for faithless persons but Nitynanda Prabhu

    is so merciful that when He found persons withoutfaith He would supply faith to them. He would givethem true spiritual property. In this way NitynandaPrabhus mercy truly goes everywhere! Even wheresunlight does not go, there also Nitynanda Prabhusmercy goes. In this way He gave something even more

    than Mahprabhu! That is Nitynanda Prabhus divinecharacter and supreme gift.

    Nitynanda Prabhus preaching was actually Gauraconsciousness. His preaching was the glorification ofr Chaitanya Mahprabhu. Nitynanda Prabhudistributed Mahprabhu Himself. Nitynanda PrabhusMantram and preaching style was:

    bhaja gaurga kaha gaurga laha gaurgera nmaye jana gaurga bhaje sei haya mr pra

    Chant the Divine Name of Gaurga Mahprabhu!Whoever is worshipping Lord Gaurga, he is My lifeand soul, whoever is practising Ka consciousnessunder the guidance of Gaurga Mahprabhu, he is

    My life and soul.In this way Nitynanda Prabhu preached and Hispreaching was so successful. Nitynanda Prabhu wasvery merciful to whoever took shelter of MahprabhuHe would give them all the wealth of Gaura-prema. Thiswas the character of Nitynanda Prabhu. Thousands andthousands of people came to the lotus feet of Nitynandaand He made them all the devotees of GaurgaMahprabhu. All over the world people are chantingMahprabhus Name and Kas Name. It is only by theblessings of Nitynanda Prabhu that this has happened.Without His mercy it would not be possible.

    Nitynandas Indispensable Mercy

    Without the mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu no one will getKa-prema, without the mercy of Nitynanda Prabhuone will not proceed even one inch in their spiritual

    life. There are so many examples in the Scriptures thatillustrate this. A prominent example of NitynandaPrabhus all-important mercy is rla Raghunth DsGoswm. Raghunth Ds Goswm was a young princemarried to a beautiful young girl and he was incrediblywealthy. But Raghunth Ds had an extremely renouncedmentality although he had so much property. Both hisfather and his uncle wanted to give all their riches and

    property to him for his benefit, but he did not want anyof it. He only wanted to the mercy of Mahprabhu andNitynanda Prabhu. Many times Raghunth Ds triedto leave his family life to join Mahprabhus group buthe was always unsuccessful. His father was determinedto prevent him from leaving and used all his strength andinfluence to do this. Security guards and accomplished

    fighters were employed to keep him at home so he wasunable to leave. He wanted nothing but to go to the lotusfeet of r Chaitanya Mahprabhu and he wanted to leaveeverything but he was forcefully restrained.

    Then one day Nitynanda Prabhu came to Pnihi.Raghunth Ds Goswms fathers house wasperhaps only seven miles or so from there, and seeingthis opportunity he told his father, My dear father,Nitynanda Prabhu has come nearby and I want togo and worship Him. His father said, Yes, that is nodifficulty, if you will not run away from home thenyou can go. So Raghunth Ds went to NitynandaPrabhu, and Nitynanda Prabhu saw him from afar and

    in a joking mood said, I shall punish you today. ThenRaghunath Das Goswami asked, Yes Prabhu, what isYour punishment? Please give it to me. I shall take ithappily. Nitynanda Prabhu blessed him, saying Yes,now you have come to Me and now you will get relief.I will arrange for you to leave your mundane condition.

    But before that I have one condition: with Me are athousand devotees, you feed them today and makea feast here. I want to see that. If we are satisfied thenI will give My blessings to you.

    Dadhi-Chi-Mahotsava

    Raghunth Ds Goswm was very happy. Raghunth

    Ds was rich and he immediately arranged dadhi(yoghurt), chi (flat-rice), milk, kra, sandea, rasagull,mango, banana, and so many other foodstuffs. Everyonehonoured all these preparations in clay pots. RaghunthDs arranged so much prasdam for thousands andthousands of Nitynanda Prabhus followers, he fed all

    the devotees there very nicely. So many people weregathered on the banks of the Ganges and the place wasso full that some were even standing in the Ganges whilethey ate.

    Nitynanda Prabhu personally invited ChaitanyaMahprabhu, and Mahprabhu came there in His subtleform and accepted prasdam with Nitynanda Prabhuand His devotees. Raghunth Ds fed all the devoteesthere, and not only that, he gave pram to them all inthe form of gold coins. According to their positions all thedevotees were given pram. Nitynanda Prabhu wasgiven the largest quantity of gold coins, then RghavaPait, and then the general devotees. Everyone got

    some money from Raghunth Ds. That festival becamevery famously known as the Dadhi-Chi-Mahotsava,the yoghurt and chipped rice festival, which enabledRaghunth Ds to enter into Chaitanya-ll.

    Nitynanda Prabhu was so happy that He put Hislotus feet on the head of Raghunth Ds Goswm,

    and blessed him, Now your sasra will be dissolved,you will be clean and free from your family life. I am

    giving you entranceyou will get Lord ChaitanyaMahprabhu. Now you go back to your house, all yourbondage is now gone, and you will soon come to thelotus feet of Chaitanyadev.

    Nitynandas Fruitful Blessing

    Raghunth Ds went back to his house, but from thenonwards he did not enter the third zone of the house.In those days, in rich peoples homes, there were threezones. The women lived in the third zone; in the secondzone lived the masters rank; and in the first zone livedall others. After receiving Nitynanda Prabhus blessing

    Raghunth Ds stayed only in the first zone of his fathershouse. But still his father kept twelve guards aroundhim. Then one day, by the grace of Nitynanda Prabhu,he got an opportunity and Raghunth Ds escaped. Fromhis home it took him twelve days to reach Mahprabhuin Pur Dhm and almost the whole time, day and night,he ran to reach there. That is another history but the point

    is that by the grace of Nitynanda Prabhu, RaghunthDs Goswm got relief from family life and attained theservice of r Chaitanyadev.

    Before he met Nitynanda Prabhu he could not leavehis sasra but by the blessing of Nitynanda Prabhu heattained Mahprabhus lotus feet. And even more than that,

    Mahprabhu accepted him as His exclusive servitor andgave him the position as one of the pillars of His conception.He became the prayojana-tattva-chryya, the exemplarydistributor of the topmost perfection of Mahprabhushighest service ideal, he showed the world the ultimatedestination, the very summum-bonum of life.

    I bow down to the lotus feet of r Guru, by whosecauseless mercy I have obtained the highest conceptionof the Holy Name and the Divine Mantra. I have cometo the service of the great savior r achnandan, who islike a golden mountain standing to show the direction

    of Ka-ll, and the association of His most intimateservitor rla Svarp Dmodar. I gained the associationof rla Rpa Goswm, who was personally ordered byMahprabhu Himself to distribute the rasaof spontaneousdevotion, and Santan Goswm, who revealed to theworld perfect sambandha-jna, proper acquiantancewith the environment. I have been given the divine

    abode of Mathur Vndvan with Rdh-kua andGovardhana Hill. And finally I have been given the hopeand aspiration that one day I may be welcomed into theservice plane where r r Rdhik and Mdhava are inTheir glory, sitting and playing.

    Taking a Stand

    This loka of rla Raghunth Ds Goswm is also theexpression of rla Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm. He alsofelt, Nitynanda Prabhu has so mercifully given me thedust of His lotus feet and so I have become Ka DsKavirj Goswm. I am a very fallen soul, but, by the

    grace of Nitynanda Prabhu, I have got everything. NowI am truly a rich man because r Rpa and Raghunthhave given me their mercy and they have accepted meas their own servitor. In this way Ka Ds KavirjGoswm has expressed his real wealth. Ka DsKavirj Goswm had also prayed to Nitynanda Prabhujust as Raghunth Ds did.

    Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm lived with his brothersfamily in Jhmaapur near Kw in Bengal. One nightthere was a successful sakrttan festival happeningat their home and his brother was very happy. One ofNitynanda Prabhus leading disciples, Mnaketan RmDs, came to the sakrttan and his brother did not giveproper honour to him. His brother did not have full faithin Nitynanda Prabhu and by failing to honour MnaketanRm Ds he made some offence to Nitynanda Prabhu.Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm became very angry withhis brother and chastised him so much, You are givinghonour to Chaitanyadev, but not to Nitynanda Prabhu?You do not have faith in Nitynanda Prabhu? You have

    done wrong! Your spiritual life will be spoiled by this!You are very offensive and I do not want to stay herewith you anymore! Kavirj Goswm said many thingsin glorification of Nitynanda Prabhu and MnaketanRm Ds left angrily from Kavirj Goswms house.

    But Kavirj Goswm received Nitynanda Prabhusmercy because he tried to satisfy His servitor MnaketanRm Ds.

    Nitynanda Appears in a Dream

    Nitynanda Prabhu was so happy with Kavirj Goswmand that night, very close to early morning, Nitynanda

    Prabhu appeared before Ka Ds in his dream. KavirjGoswm expertly expressed his vision of NitynandaPrabhus divine form in his r Chaitanya-charitmta.Nitynanda Prabhu mercifully gave His blessings toKavirj Goswm and told him,

    re re kadsa, n karaha bhaya

    vndvane yha,th sarva labhya haya (r Chaitanya-charitmta: di-ll, 5.195)

    I am very happy with you. You have nothing to fear.It is My blessing to you that you will leave this houseand family life and go to Vndvan. There you willattain everything by My grace. You will get the exclusiveservice of Rdh-Ka in Vndvan.

    I Have Received Everything!In the morning Kavirj Goswm immediately left hishouse and ran to Vndvan. In r Chaitanya-charitmta

    he glorified the mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu so much,Nitynanda Prabhu has given me everything! By thegrace of Nitynanda Prabhu I have received VndvanDhm. He ordered me, Go to Vndvan, and thereyou will receive your super benefit. And when I cameto Vndvan, I have received the lotus feet of Rdh-

    Madana-Mohan, Rdh-Govinda, and Rdh-Gopnth.And all the Vaiavas, those who were alive and those whowere no longer alive, I received mercy from them all! Andthe supermost devotees of r Chaitanya Mahprabhu,rla Rpa Goswm, rla Santan Goswm, rla JvaGoswm, rla Raghunth Ds Goswmfrom allthe Goswms I have received the dust of their lotus feetand received their mercy. Very exclusively they have

    embraced me, and particularly I have the mercy of rlaRaghunth Ds Goswm and rla Rpa Goswm.

    Humility Attracts Mercy

    When rla Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm composed rChaitanya-charitmta he concluded every chapter with

    the idea,

    r-rpa-raghuntha-pade yra achaitanya-charitmta kahe ka-dsa

    (r Chaitanya-charitmta: di-ll, 1.110, etc.)

    Without the mercy of r Rpa and Raghunth we

    cannot understand Chaitanya Mahprabhu, and withoutthe mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu we cannot enter intoChaitanya-ll or Vndvan-ll. Nitiyer koru hobe,Braje Rdh-Ka pbe. If you will receive the mercyof Nitynanda Prabhu, then simultaneously you willget the mercy of all the Vaiavas and Mahprabhu

    r Chaitanyadev. Everything is depending upon the mercyof Nitynanda Prabhu. And really it is the truth that KaDs Kavirj Goswm, he is the most worshipable master ofthe r Chaitanya sampradya. Kavirj Goswm was a veryhigh standard Vaiava, but still he was very humble andtolerant. In his r Chaitanya-charitmta he said,

    I am more sinful than Jagi and Mdhi and even lowerthan worms in stool. Anyone who hears my name losesthe benefit of his pious activities. Anyone who utters my

    name becomes sinful. Who in this world but NitynandaPrabhu could show His mercy to such an abominableperson as me? Although I am without a doubt the mostfallen and abominable, I have taken shelter of NitynandaPrabhus lotus feet, and He has embraced me, and givenall spiritual wealth to me. Preme matta Nitynanda, He is

    always intoxicated with Ka-prema and Gaura-premaand He is not considering who is good or who is bad.If anyone will fall down before His lotus feet He will giveHis full mercy to him and he will receive Ka-prema.That is the style of Nitynanda.

    Exalted by MercyWhen Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm came to Vndvan hefound the association of hundreds of Vaiavas followingthe line of Chaitanya Mahprabhu. All the Vaiavasrequested Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm to narrate thePastimes of Chaitanya Mahprabhu. Previously manyVaiavas had written about Mahprabhus characterand teachings but when they heard from Ka DsKavirj Goswm all the Vaiavas in Vndvan receivedvery, very new light. Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm gavecompletely unique meanings of lokas from rmad-Bhgavatam and the new light about Mahprabhusdivine feelings in His final Pastimes which no one beforecould express. When the Vaiavas of Vndvan heardsuch exclusive description of Mahprabhus characterthey were astonished. In Pur-dhm RaghunthDs Goswm stayed with Mahprabhu and observedeverything about the character of r Chaitanyadev. rlaRpa Goswm also stayed with Mahprabhu in Purfor some time and was fully empowered by ChaitanyaMahprabhu. Raghunth Ds later came and stayed

    with rla Rpa Goswm in Vndvan and heard fromhim. So when Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm heard fromRaghunth Ds Goswm he received everything aboutChaitanya Mahprabhu, especially the final Pastimes ofthe Lord.

    Still, the whole society of r Chaitanyadevs followers,the six Goswms, all the Vaiavas in Vndvan, werealready extremely satisfied with Vndvan Ds hkursr Chaitanya-Bhgavat. Vndvan Ds hkur presentedunlimited glorification of r Chaitanyadevs Pastimes inhis r Chaitanya-Bhgavat. Ka Ds Kavirj Goswmexpressed the final Pastimes of Chaitanya-ll in hisr Chaitanya-charitmta but he never crossed theprestige of Vndvan Ds hkur. He gave full honourto Vndvan Ds hkur, Ka Ds Kavirj Goswmwrote many times in r Chaitanya-charitmta.

    Prabhupd rla Saraswat hkur has explainedthat by this expression Vndvan Ds hkur is givingunfavorable persons a new chance to come to thelotus feet of r Chaitanya Mahprabhu. If someone isapparently mistreated by the Lords devotee that willattract the special mercy of the Lord to them. VndvanDs hkur fought with the demoniac brahmin societyand externally his Pastimes appear very hard. From

    different corners he met many obstacles but he crossedover everything through his devotional activity anddevotional mood and the special mercy of NitynandaPrabhu. Sometimes Nitynanda Prabhu even appearedpersonally in the body of Vndvan Ds hkur andbestowed mercy to all the conditioned souls.

    Vysa of Chaitanya-ll

    Vndvan Ds hkur glorified the Pastimes ofChaitanya Mahprabhu greatly but he also mentionedthat in the future they would be more fully revealed. Inmany places in r Chaitanya-Bhgavat Vndvan Ds

    hkur mentioned, What I am expressing, it will befully expressed in the future when Vedavysa will appear.I am not Vedavysa. Vedavysa will come and He willgive you the Pastimes of Chaitanya Mahprabhu. Butin r Chaitanya-charitmta Ka Ds Kavirj Goswmsaid, No, Vndvan Ds hkur really is Vedavysa.He has truly revealed Chaitanya-ll. What he has

    willingly left unexpressed, the final Pastimes ofMahprabhu, that I am describing here in r Chaitanya-charitmta. So Vndvan Ds hkur said, Vysa willcome in the future. And Ka Ds Kavirj Goswmsaid, Vndvan Ds hkur is Vedavysa. And we haveseen that Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm became Vysadeva,

    By the mercy of rla Guru Mahrj we have got somelight from their expressions and the realisation thatboth are Vedavysa. First is Vndvan Ds hkur, whowas mentioned by Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm as thevysa of Chaitanya-ll. And second, Ka Ds KavirjGoswm, because he also expanded Chaitanya-ll and

    very scrutinisingly and finely gave us the revelation of thefinal portion of Chaitanya-ll. Vndvan Ds hkursstyle was overflooded with enthusiasm, and Ka DsKavirj Goswms style was very fine and authentic.I composed two lokas about the two vysas, rla KaDs Kavirj Goswm and Vndvan Ds hkur, whenwe published r Chaitanya-charitmta.

    So first, I bow down to Vndvan Ds hkur andthen to Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm because they bothappeared as Vedavysa. Vndvan Ds hkur was theopen (vyakta)Vedavysaand Ka Ds Kavirj Goswmwas the hidden (chhanna) vysa and together theyhave revealed Chaitanya-ll. But, both are extremelyblessed by Nitynanda Prabhu! They are decoratedwith the dust of Nitynanda Prabhus all-merciful lotusfeet (dvau Nitynandapdbja-karureu-bhuitau).Vndvan Ds hkur was Nitynanda Prabhus owndisciple and Ka Ds Kavirj Goswm received theall-merciful blessings from Nitynanda Prabhu. Theywere both enriched with the blessings of NitynandaPrabhu. If Nitynanda Prabhu had not appeared noone could understand Mahprabhu and no one wouldhave r Chaitanya-charitmta,r Chaitanya-Bhgavat;

    nowhere would there be Mahprabhus whole lifehistory, Mahprabhus preaching programme,Mahprabhus glorification. We have everything onlyby the grace of Nitynanda Prabhu!

    In this way Vndvan Ds hkur and rlaKavirj Goswm blessed me. By their mercy we can

    understand a little bit of Their glories. Vndvan Dshkur was very much intoxicated with the Pastimesof Nitynanda Prabhu and Mahprabhu, but he hadunlimited love for Nitynanda Prabhu who has givenus our real property in Ka consciousness.

    Nitynanda Prabhu lived in Rha-dea and preachedKa consciousness. When Nitynanda Prabhu wentto Gaur Ds Paits house in Kln He met withGaur Ds Pait and his brother Sryya Ds Sarkhel.They knew Nitynanda Prabhu and were very happyto serve Him. Nitynanda Prabhu saw that SryyaDs had two daughters and said, Please make an

    arrangement, I want to marry them. Their father wasvery happy that Nitynanda Prabhu Himself wantedto marry his daughters, Vasudhdev and Jahnavdev.After Nitynanda Prabhus Pastimes Jahnavdev took aleading part in the sampradya of Chaitanya Mahprabhu.She became a Guru and travelled like a Queen. Everyonerespected her spiritual representation of Nitynanda

    Prabhu and she initiated many devotees. She wasthe guest of honour at Narottam Ds hkurs grandfestival in Khetur-dhm. Vasudhdev had one sonnamed Vrachandra. He was initiated by Jahnavdevand he came to control the whole society of ChaitanyaMahprabhus sampradya. He glorified NitynandaPrabhu and Mahprabhu in a very grand way, he spreadTheir glories more widely than They did. His preachingwas extremely liberal and he was even more mercifulthat Nitynanda Prabhu Himself. He did not look at anyfaults of anyone and always bestowed his mercy uponall. During his time in Bengal there were many Buddhistmonks and Vrachandra transformed them into devotees

    of Gaurga Mahprabhu. He brought thousands andthousands of people to the lotus feet of Mahprabhuduring his Pastimes. So, take the lotus feet of NitynandaPrabhu! He bestows His mercy not only on His owngeneration, but He bestows even more divine mercythrough His followers like His son Vrachandra Prabhu.

    Narottam Ds hkur also received Nitynanda Prabhusfull mercy and he distributed that widely. Narottam Dshkur was a prince in Bengal who became a servitorof his Guru, Lokanth Ds Goswm in Vndvan.Narottam Ds hkur left everything to take shelter ofthe Lord. His expression was, By Nitynanda Prabhus

    blessings it is possible to leave all mundane attachments.Narottam Ds hkur took the rudder of the ship ofNitynanda Prabhu along with Vrachandra Prabhu.His preaching was so glorious. Still we are seeing thatby the preaching of Narottam Ds hkur everyone inMaipur and Assam sings the glories of NitynandaPrabhu and Mahprabhu. All of Bengal was influencedby his preaching, and by Nitynanda Prabhus mercy somany became Vaiavas and chanted the Holy Name ofthe Lordthe Hare Ka Mahmantra.

    Narrotam Ds hkur, Lochan Ds hkur and otherdevotees composed many songs about NitynandaPrabhu. Narottam Ds hkurs song Niti-pada-kamala

    is a very general but very beautiful song. It is short andvery simply expressed but it is very palatable and givesus our main conception about Nitynanda Prabhu.If you read and try to understand the meaning you willunderstand the truth about Nitynanda Prabhu.

    A King-MakerWe have also seen the influence of r Nitynanda Prabhuin the life our rla Guru Mahrj, rla Bhakti Rakakrdhar Dev-Goswm Mahrj. Without NitynandaPrabhus blessings upon him we would not have

After rlaBhakti Siddhnta Saraswat hkur there was quarrel inthe Gauya Mah. rla Guru Mahrj tried to cooperatewith his good friend Vsudev Prabhu, who became thehead of the mission, and Kuja Bbu, the secretary of rlaBhakti Siddhnta Saraswat hkur, who he respected somuch.

    Finally many of the leading devotees of rla Bhakti

    Siddhnta Saraswat hkur withdrew from themissionary activities of the Gauya Mah and rla GuruMahrj was the last to leave. But rla Guru Mahrj didnot want to take any disciples. He had two reasons. Onewas that Vsudev Prabhu was his very close friend. Andsecond, he preached very widely and successfully in the

    time of his Guru Mahrj, rla Saraswat hkur, andhe wanted to spend the last portion of his life practisingKa consciousness, reading r Chaitanya-charitmtaand rmad-Bhgavatam; he wanted to stay alone.He had no enthusiasm to make disciples for himself.rla Guru Mahrj lived in a rented room near the banksof the Ganges. He would spend his days bathing in the

    Ganges, doing Tulas-sev and maintaining a garden forthe worship of his Govardhan-ila, reading, writing andchanting.

    All of his Godbrothers were searching for him for maybeone or two years until finally someone saw him bathingin the Ganges. They all came and forcefully requested

    rla Guru Mahrj, We need your association. We willmake another institution and you will be the head. rlaGuru Mahrj said, No, I wont take disciples. If I takedisciples others will think I am very enthusiastic to takedisciples. I came away from the Gauya Mah and I do notwant to preach again. I want to spend my last life alone.

    rla Guru Mahrj had resolved not to take discipleslike Lokanth Ds Goswm. He simply wanted to practisefor the rest of his life. They pressured rla Guru Mahrjso much and finally he told them, I do not want to be aking in society. I will not be a king, but I can make a king.I can serve in the capacity of a king-maker. And he gavesannys to many of his Godbrothers and they accepteddisciples and started missions under his guidance. But

    rla Guru Mahrj lived with a few brahmchrs andfrom time to time would visit the auspicious birthplacesof the eternal associates of rman Mahprabhu.

    The Order of Nitynanda Prabhu

    Then one day rla Guru Mahrj went to EkachakrDhm, the birthplace of r Nitynanda Prabhu.rla Guru Mahrj said he went to Ekachakr to takethe mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu. He offered his fulldaavat pram at the lotus feet of Nitynanda Prabhuand prayed, O Nitynanda Prabhu, please give Yourmercy to me. Then rla Guru Mahrj heard, You

    have the wealth of the mercy of Mahprabhu in yourheart. You have so much spiritual property but you donot want to give that to others. That is not good! Why areyou are asking for My mercy? If you want the wealth ofMy blessings then distribute your wealth to others andthen you can take more from Me.

    rla Guru Mahrj was surprised and thought, Yes,it is no doubt that I have received some wealth from rlaBhakti Siddhnta Saraswat hkur. rla Guru Mahrjreflected deeply on this and then decided he would nowvery cautiously accept a few disciples to fulfill his debtto his Guru Mahrj and Nitynanda Prabhu. Actually,

    Dayl Niti! Dayl Niti!

    We have seen rla Guru Mahrj show us that he isalways depending on the mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu.Up to his last days when rla Guru Mahrj was in hiszone, upstairs in his room or on his veranda, he wasalways chanting, Dayl Niti! Dayl Niti! Always hisconsciousness was under Nitynanda Prabhus mercy,and he was always thinking of Nitynanda Prabhu.He forgot his position, everything, he was only asking

    for the mercy of Nitynanda Prabhu, chanting, DaylNiti! Dayl Niti! Dayl Niti! When rla Guru Mahrjwould show sickness, his servant Gaura-Ka Prabhuwould try to give rla Guru Mahrj some relief. Hethought only Harinm could help and would offer rlaGuru Mahrj hisjapa ml. He would ask, Shall I give

    you your chanting beads? You will get some relief.Guru Mahrj replied, No, no, no, give these chantingbeads to Govinda Mahrj. My only hope is Dayl Niti! Itwas very clear. He was always calling Dayl Niti! DaylNiti! Lastly Guru Mahrj was completely attached toNitynanda Prabhus merciful glance. This was a miraclefor me. Prabhupd Saraswat hkur gave rla Guru

    Mahrj exclusive charge of the Rpnuga line, but rlaGuru Mahrj said that without Nitynanda Prabhu youwill not be able to enter that line. After entering you canget everything, but you will not gain entrance withoutNitynanda Prabhus mercy.

    I once asked rla Guru Mahrj, How is it possible

    that there is no consideration of offences in the Namesof Chaitanya and Niti? rla Guru Mahrj answered,To some extent it depends on our realisation, butatapatra vedha nyya, a needle can pierce through onehundred leaves within a second. The Names of Nitiand Chaitanya have the power to rescue us so quicklythat the time it takes for us to be actually rescued is notcountable. In this way rla Guru Mahrj explained.
