    PARIKRAMA-KHANDA

    Chapter One

    General Glorification

All glories to Lord Caitanya, the moon of Navadvipa and

son of mother Saci! All glories to Nityananda Raya, theavadhuta! All glories to Sri Advaita Prabhu, the SupremeLord! All glories to Sri Gadadhara and Srivasa Pandita! All glories to Navadvipadhama, the essence of alldhamas! And all glories to the residents of Navadvipa, the associates of Gauranga!

ffering obeisances to the feet of all the devotees, " #illno# briefly describe Sri Navadvipadhama$ %ven thedemigods headed by Lord &rahma do not 'no# theunlimited glories of Navadvipamandala, so #ho can

possibly describe that dhama fully( Since thethousandmouthed Sesa cannot describe it completely,

ho# can ", an insignificant living entity, do so( %venLord Siva can find no end to the unlimited glories ofNavadvipadhama$ Nevertheless, the desire of SriCaitanya is po#erful, and according to )is #ish thedevotees have given me an order$ *herefore, by the mercyof the devotees, " hereby describe the glories of Nadia$

*here is one other topic " #ould li'e to mention$ As it is aconfidential matter, " hesitate to disclose it$ &ut, on theother hand, " cannot resist telling it, for Lord Caitanyainstructed )is devotees to publici+e the glories of )is

pastimes and abode after )is disappearance$ *hough SriCaitanya is the most concealed of all avataras, " 'no##ell that )e is all in all$ &ut because )is confidential

activities are described ambiguously in scripture, thenondevotees are unable to reali+e them$ or a long time-ayadevi 'ept hidden the confidential scriptures thatdescribe Lord Caitanya.s pastimes$ *hese topics aredescribed in both the unmanifest scriptures, #hich #erescattered here and there, as #ell as in the manifestscriptures$ -aya 'ept all these scriptures hidden fromvie# by covering the eyes of the scholars$

After Gauranga completed )is pastimes on earth,ho#ever, )is obedient servant -ayadevi, understood thedesire of the Lord$ She lifted the veil of illusion from theeyes of the living entities and revealed the true nature of

Sri Gauranga #ithin this material universe$ *hus thehidden meaning in the scriptures became easily revealed, and the arguments inhibiting understanding LordCaitanya #ere dispelled$ "t #as the allmerciful

Nityananda Prabhu #ho revealed the truth aboutGauranga in the hearts of the living entities$ n )iscommand, -aya pulled a#ay the covering so that the

pure devotee scholars could receive this precious treasureof the scriptures$

"f one remains doubtful in spite of the scriptural evidence,he is most unfortunate and useless$ /hy should hecontinue living( /hen Nityananda Prabhu distributed themercy, the fortunate living entities accepted and reached

    the perfection of happiness$

%veryone should 'no# the symptoms of the unfortunateliving entity as #ell0 it is he #ho is overconfident of the

po#er of his o#n intelligence$ Such a person re1ects themercy of the Lord, and by the force of false logic he fallsrepeatedly into the pit of illusion$

2Come, spirit souls of 3aliyuga! Give up this hypocrisyand 1ust accept the pure ecstatic love of Sri Gauranga!4 "nthis #ay Nityananda Prabhu #ould call out again andagain$ &ut still the unfortunate living entities did not

    accept$

No# let us consider carefully #hy these people do notaccept such #onderful love of God$ "n pursuit ofhappiness, living entities in the material #orld follo#various processes, such as logic or mystic yoga$ And, in5uest of happiness, some give up the material #orld andgo to the forest, #hile 'ings constantly #age #arsamongst themselves$ 6esiring happiness, others run after#omen and #ealth, #hile others ta'e to arts and sciences$"n pursuit of happiness, others re1ect happiness and learnto tolerate the miseries of life, and still others simplydro#n themselves in the ocean$

Raising )is lotus hands in the air, Lord Nityanandae7claims, 2Come, living entities! Give up the troubles ofkarma and jnana$ Since you are endeavoring forhappiness, " #ill give you happiness #ithout as'inganything in e7change$ "n this happiness there is notrouble, loss, or pain$ 8ust chant the name of Gaurangaand dance #ithout an7iety$ *here.s nothing e5ual to thehappiness that " am giving$ *hat happiness is pure, eternal ecstasybeyond all illusion!4

"n this #ay, Nityananda Prabhu begged everyone to ta'epure ecstatic love$ Still, unfortunate persons, influencedby previous sinful activities, did not even #ant it$ &ut ifsuch persons chant even once the names of Gauranga and

Nitai, the effects of unlimited sinful activities aredestroyed$

Listen, everyone, to one more confidential topic$ *hemost suitable thing for the souls of 3aliyuga is thistreasure of gauranga-lila$ Gaurahari is the combinedform of Radha and 3rsna, #ho eternally en1oy pastimesin 9rndavana along #ith the sakhis$ *he truth of Radhaand 3rsna.s eternal pastimes and the glories of9ra1adhama are 'no#n by everyone through thescriptures$ And the unlimited glories of 3rsna.s name andabode are 'no#n through the scriptures by people all over

the universe$ &ut still, actually obtainingKrsna-premaisnot at all common$ Let us contemplate the reason #hy$

)erein lies the secret of secrets #hich the living entitiesbound by -aya cannot discern$ ne #ho does not attainlove of God after #orshiping 3rsna birth after birth hascertainly committed heaps of offenses$ or only bychanting 3rsna.s name #ithout offenses can one attainincessantKrsna-prema$

Sri Caitanya.s incarnation, ho#ever, is most uncommon$&y )is mercy, a serious person, though filled #ithoffenses, can 5uic'ly obtain love of God$ /hen someonecalls out the names of Nitai and Caitanya,Krsna-premacomes loo'ing for him$ ffenses do not hinder his

progress, and he soon sheds tears of ecstasy out of purelove of God$ &y the mercy of Lord Caitanya, all the

offenses 5uic'ly flee a#ay, the heart becomes pure, andlove of God fully blossoms$ &ecause people in 3aliyugacommit unlimited offenses, #hich are difficult to chec',there can be no means of deliverance other thanGauranga.s name$ *herefore, in 3aliyuga, " see noalternative to Sri Gauranga$ *his is also the proclamationof the scriptures$

As Sri Gauracandra appeared in Navadvipa, it istherefore the crest 1e#el of all holy places$ ffenders arethe ob1ect of punishment at other holy pilgrimage places,

but in Navadvipadhama they are purified$ *he e7ampleis the t#o brothers 8agai and -adhai, #ho committedgreat offenses yet still received Nitai and Gaura$ /hat tospea' of other places, at 9rndavana the offenders are

punished$ &ut a person #ho has committed hundreds ofoffenses can easily receive the mercy of NityanandaPrabhu and overcome those offenses in

Navadvipadhama$ or this reason, sages endlessly praiseNavadvipa of Gauramandala$

)e #ho lives in Navadvipadhama is very fortunate, forhe achieves attraction for 3rsna$ )e #ho happens to gothere becomes freed from all offenses$ /hat one attains

by travelling to all the holy places is attained 1ust byremembering Navadvipa$ "n this #ay the scriptures sing$)e #ho sees Navadvipadhama gets ecstatic love of3rsna birth after birth$ %ven one #ho goes to Navadvipadesiring to gain material comforts through pious activities#ill not ta'e another birth$ *hesastrassay that one #ho#al's around Navadvipa attains the fruit of millions ofasvamedha-yajnasat every step$ And one #ho lives in

Navadvipa and chants mantras obtains the sound ofCaitanya as his mantraand easily gets free from maya$/hat yogis obtain after ten years at other tirthas isobtained in three nights at Navadvipa$

*hat liberation attained by &rahman reali+ation at otherholy places is obtained simply by bathing in the Gangesat Navadvipa$ *hus, all types of liberationsalokya,

sarupya, sarsi, samipya, and nirvanacan be obtained inNavadvipa #ithout speculative practice$ alling at thefeet of the pure devotees in Navadvipa, &hu'ti and -u'ti:personified material en1oyment and liberation; remainthere as obedient servants$ Not caring for their blessings, the devotees 'ic' them a#ay, but still they do not leavethe devotee.s feet$ *he fruits obtained by staying onehundred years at the seven holy cities can be attained by

    staying one night in Navadvipadhama$

"n conclusion, Navadvipa is the topmost tirtha$ *a'ingshelter of it, the living entities can cross over 3aliyuga$At this place, taraka, the name of Rama, #hich givesliberation, andparakaTarakaandparakaare mentionedin Cc$

*he devas, rsis, and Rudras al#ays reside in differentparts of Navadvipa$ Although they are engaged inausterities for a long time, still they do not get

At that time, desiring the good fortune of all livingentities, the Supreme Lord thought, 2Bpon diagnosing adisease, a doctor prescribes an appropriate medicine$Accordingly, a strong medicine is given for a severedisease$ No# that 3aliyuga has become terrible and thedisease is serious, there #ill be no relief #ithout a strongmedicine$ "f " do not reveal the dhama, the name, and -yform, #hich " have been holding secretly for so long, ho##ill the living entities ever recover( *he living entitiesare -y servants, and " am their Lord$ "f " do not helpthem, they #ill never be delivered$4
