  • Highlights of WR Grid in the month of

    July -2016

    Power Supply Position:

    (i) Unrestricted Demand: The maximum unrestricted Demand was 40931 MW at 20:00 Hrs

on 25TH July16 which was 9.94% less as compared to last year (45448 MW). Average

peak unrestricted demand was 35715 MW which was 6.45% less than the last year

    July15 (38178MW).

(ii) Peak Demand Met: Western Region has met peak demand of 40641 MW at 20:00hrs on

    25.07.2016. It was 9.29 % less as compared to July15 (44803 MW) & 11.71% less as

compared to June16 (46031 MW). Average Demand Met (35705 MW) was reduced by

6.13 % compared to last year (38037 MW). ESIL achieved so far highest demand met of

    786 MW.

(iii) Total Energy Consumption was 26564 MUs in the month of July16 at the average of 857 MUs/day & Maximum was 915 MUs on 25.07.16. Average Energy consumption was reduced by 6.13 % w.r.t. last year (913 MUs).

(iv) Total Energy requirement was 26572 MUs at the average of 857 MUs/day & Maximum was 915 MUs on 25.07.16. Average energy requirement reduced by 6.45% compared to last year of same month (916 MUs).

Frequency Profile: Despite of low demand and high renewable generation, very good frequency profile achieved in the month of Juy16. System frequency was in IEGC band (49.9

50.05 Hz) for 72.30 % of time in the month and achieved for 83.36% (so far highest) of the time

on 19th July 2016. There was sustained period of frequency close to 50 Hz. From 19th to 24th

July16, Frequency Variation Index(FVI) was between the range of 0.02 to 0.03. Average

frequency deviation index was 0.28 for the month of July16.

Maximum frequency of 50.35 Hz was observed on 2nd July at 07:59:40 hrs due to load crash of

approx 10000 MW in NR. Minimum frequency of 49.69 Hz was observed on 7th July at

21:42:10 hrs due to demand pick up in NR. Average frequency of the grid was 50.01 Hz.

Voltage Profile: High voltage was observed due to monsoon period in so many nodes of 400 KV of Western Region. More than 50% of time voltage greater than 420 KV was observed

at Mapusa, Parli, Dhule, Wardha and Raipur and highest of 85.49% of time observed at

    Raigarh.

Element Addition in July16 into the WR Grid:

Total 1048MW generation capacity added into the grid. No Transmission elements added in

    the month of July16.

Hydro Generation: Hydro generation in the month of July16 was 1745 MUs at the

average of 56 MUs/day. Hydro generation increased by 143% compared to last month (509) MUs). Max Hydro generation was 68.88 Mus on 25th July16.

  • Wind Generation: Total wind generation in the month was 2320 Mus at the average of 74.84 MUs/day in the month of July16. Wind Generation was reduced by 2.2% compared to

last month (2373 MUs). In this month, Maharashtra has generated its so far highest wind power

of 2556MW on 9th July 2016 at 21:00 hrs. In Western region, the maximum wind generation of

6207 MW was observed on 9th July2016 at 14:00 hrs.

Solar Generation: Solar Generation of 212 Mus generated in the month of July16 at the average of 6.36 MUs/day compared to 257 MUs in last month (average of 9.09 Mus/day).

Open Access: Total 685 Nos. Intra-regional & Inter-regional short term open access transactions approved and 1146 Mus energy approved in the month July16.
