This was a Tata CSR project for Master planning of a Gaushala catering

to the people of Tunda-Vandh village, research and documentation of

functioning of a Gaushala and its activities. Site area 15 acres (60558sq.m)

Educational exercise for the students of Hunnarshala Artisan School

June 2010- Oct 2010 - The Lakhpat project, Lakhpat village, Kutch

Research and documentation of history, architecture and traditional water

management systems of Lakhpat Village. The focus of the project was to

revive the pride and identity of its people, by recreating cultural and trade

history and restoring its landmark buildings such that it provides

livelihood to its residents through tourism.

ACADEMIC ( FINAL YEAR DESIGN DISSERTATION)

May 2009- Nov 2009 - A Lakefront cultural district that will reflect the culture of the place and

people of Bhuj and Kutch. Infuse life and activities in the traditional

urban historic settings of Bhuj and act as a catalyst for further lakefront

development of Hamirsar Lake in Bhuj City.

PLANNING PROCESS: Identification of significant contours and devising a method to retain the contour level. These are the essential contours which when maintained will retain the water pattern that is naturally occurring on site.

PROJECT AIM: Sustainable ways of coming together of people and animals, creating a harmonious relationship with nature and the society.

A Vathaan.

DESIGN CONCEPT: To create the essence of traditional Vathaans. Vathaan is a congregation space, usually in the outskirts of villages of Kutch region. The main features of a vathaan are a Banyan tree with a otla (platform) and water troughs for cattle.

ACCESS & CONNECTIVITY PATTERN is imposed onto the natural environment, while making sure that least amount of natural cycles are tampered with

Defining a suitable geometry for laying the FODDER BANKS and the resulting CATTLE CLUSTER areas, while keeping in mind-contour levels, water movement pattern, green cultivation zones and access network.

Identification of the suitable areas for GREEN CULTIVATION with respect to the water movement on the site.

Project Description: Aug 2010- Oct 2012 The Banni grasslands are extremely hot and dusty in the summer, yet offer cooler nights and so the building openings needed to be designed to accommodate both conditions. Using stone masonry to decrease compulsory maintenance, a series of stone fin columns were incorporated.Built up area : 283 sq.m (3045 sq.ft)Site area: 5576 sq.m

Project Description: Jan 2012-April 2013The brief was to design a farmhouse in a 13 acre organic farm for a couple which run an organization on organic farming. The location of the building was to be such that it blended with the site contour. The existing ecology around it was incorporated in the design.
