INTRODUCTIONIndia is an emerging country with huge potential. The

domestic economy is now growing at around9- 10% per annum andIndias importance in global terms is being

reinforced by rapidly rising exports and domesticconsumption. At a time when numbers of a slowdown andoverheating in the Indian economy have started gaining

momentum, the Indian rupee sprang a surprise by pushingthe GDP figure past the trillion-dollar (42,00,000 crore) mark.

The automotive industry is at the center of Indias newglobal dynamic. The domestic market expanding rapidly as

incomes rise and consumer credit becomes more widelyavailable. Manufacturers product lines are being continuallyexpanded, as is the local automotive manufacturing base.

Expectation are high that India can develop as a global hubfor vehicle manufacturers and as an outsourcing center that

offers the global automotive industry solution high up theautomotive value chain.

India eyes 25 million automotive jobs.India's GDP is set to double over the next

    decadeIn percentage terms, the automotive

industry's contribution should also double. In dollar terms, the sector's contribution is

set to quadruple to some $145bn

With the worlds second largest and fastest-growingpopulation, there is no denying Indias potential in

both economic and population terms and the effect itwill have on the auto industry in the years to come.

The country is already off to a good start, with a well-developed components industry and a production

level of 1 million four-wheeled vehicles a year, plus afurther 5 million two- and three-wheelers.

Historical back groundIn India there are 100 people per vehicle, while this figure is 82

in China. It is expected that Indian automobile industry willachieve mass motorization status by 2014.

Since the first car rolled out on the streets of Mumbai (then

Bombay) in 1898, the Automobile Industry of India has comea long way. During its early stages the auto industry was

overlooked by the then Government and the policies werealso not favorable. The liberalization policy and various tax

reliefs by the Govt. of India in recent years has maderemarkable impacts on Indian Automobile Industry. Indian

auto industry, which is currently growing at the pace ofaround 18 % per annum, has become a hot destination forglobal auto players like Volvo, General Motors and Ford. Awell developed transportation system plays a key role in thedevelopment of an economy, and India is no exception to it.

With the growth of transportation system the AutomotiveIndustry of India is also growing at rapid speed, occupying an

important place on the 'canvas' of Indian economy.Today Indian automotive industry is fully capable of

producing various kinds of vehicles and can be divided into

03 broad categories: Cars, two-wheelers and heavy vehicles. The first automobile in India rolled in 1897 in Bombay.

India is being recognized as potential emerging auto market.Foreign players are adding to their investments in Indian auto

industry.Within two-wheelers, motorcycles contribute 80% of the segment

sizeUnlike the USA, the Indian passenger vehicle market is dominated

by cars (79%).Tata Motors dominates over 60% of the Indian commercial vehicle

market.2/3rd of auto component production is consumed directly by

OEMs.India is the largest three-wheeler market in the world.

India is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.India is the second largest tractor manufacturer in the world.

India is the fifth largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in theworld.

The number one global motorcycle manufacturer is in India

India is the fourth largest car market in Asia - recently crossed the

1 million mark.FOUNDATION - The seeds of what would

mature and become today's Tata group werelaid long years before India became

independent.CONSOLIDATION - The Tata group ventured

into new areas and built on the foundations, in spite of the restraintsimposed by a controlled economy.

LIBRILISATION -The Indian economy unleasheda period of remarkable growth for theTata group, in India and worldwide.

As TATA MOTORS is regarded as one of the best fuelefficient cars. Hence I conducted a study on the

consumer perception about small cars. Firstly, I tookthree brands of small cars; Zen estilo,

Indica and Santro for a comparative study of smallcar segment.

Later I went through the process of filling thequestionnaires, to know exactly what the customersof small cars perceived about their cars. Tata motorswere established on September 1, 1945, originally for

the manufacture of Steam Locomotives atJamshedpur.

All the cars taken for the sample showed that the

consumers perceived them as almost same in all theattributes like safety, comfort and luxury. But, at theend the research was limited due to small sample

size, small sample area and time constraints.

    OBJECTIVES OF TATA MOTORS

  • 8/7/2019 PRATHAMESH JAWALEKAR

    20/32

Mumbai: The Tata Business Excellence Model-2002 (TBEM) has a

new look with the inclusion of new core objectives and assessmentprocesses. TBEM, based on the US-based Malcolm Balridge, has

undergone a change so as to reorient itself and make it more savvywith the group's initiatives towards new economy sectors.

While the TBEM is undergoing a change, the number of groupcompanies, which have signed up for the Tata Brand Equity andBusiness Promotion Scheme and thus opted for TBEM quality

process, has increased from the 30-odd to 54. This not only includesvarious Tata group companies but also various profit centres under

    them.

Tata Quality Management Services (TQMS) chief executive officer GJagannathan has told this newspaper that although basic values

remain the same, the 11 core values have been modified so as tomake them more contemporary to the group's new initiatives as also

to capture the speed of the era.

To explain a few changes, the leadership criteria now involves how

the leader reviews and monitors the progress of the managementinstead of just setting the direction. Innovation management is the

new entrant which deals with the agility of a certain organisation andis measured on the basis of its ability to cope with changes. While

greater emphasis has been put on the role of senior leaders, humanresource focus includes succession planning and stronger focus on

    cooperation, communication and knowledge sharing.

Continuous improvement is now modified into organisation andpersonal learning, whereby knowledge management by an individual,

both at the personal and organisation level, is reviewed.

Finally, the core value now includes the system perspective, whereinthe objective is to keep a balance within the organisation of allindividual developments happening within the company. To be

precise, the leadership has been changed to a visionary leadership,

  • 8/7/2019 PRATHAMESH JAWALEKAR

    21/32

valuing employees to valuing both the employees and the partners, fast response to agility, and a long-range view of the future. Changesin the process management include, business processes to business

growth and success and non-product and services such astechnology acquisition and knowledge management.

Besides incorporating these changes in the core value, the processesof assessment have also undergone change. In TBEM 2002, various

innovative practices have been started so as to enable all groupcompanies to adopt the quality management model, not in isolation

but in synergy with the group.

This includes, one group company assessment team being assessedby another group company's CEO and, in the process, one group

company gets the perspective of the another. Also, the assessmentremains unbiased and objective.

Sharing of best practices has been made more comprehensive withthe formation of four regional forums at one each in the East and

South and two in the West, where senior executives of groupcompanies will meet at regular intervals to share the best practices of

their own company, for instance, the customer satisfaction of TitanIndustries, or industry relations of Tisco.

Besides, in a bid to take the quality vision forward, a team of seniorexecutives from across the group are also sent abroad to study and

interact with the best quality companies there. Under the system, some group CEOs have already visited the US and Japan.

Further, TQMS has also tied up with Tata Management TrainingCentre, Department of Economic Studies, and Tata Council for

Community Initiatives, so that the quality initiatives can beimplemented with inputs from all sides

    Community Questionnaire

Assessing my community was a class project that revealed the corecharacteristics of my community. In this paper I will attempt to

effectively discuss the results of the questionnaire. I will also attemptto compare my data with the overall class data that's called the

aggregate data. Finally I will explain how one of the variables affects

    us individually and collectively.

    Introduction/Summary

Today there are so many factors that affect the quality of health in ourcommunities. In the project, I will assess the quality of health in mycommunity. Throughout history the church has been a major factor

and good starting point when attempting to understand thecommunity. For this project I choose New Hope Baptist Churchlocated at 284 Vine Street in Jackson, Ms pastured by Rev. Dock

Cooper III. New Hope is located in area code 39206, andapproximately 2 minutes from the Interstate 55, and 10 minutes from

    downtown Jackson.

    Consumer Satisfaction

  • 8/7/2019 PRATHAMESH JAWALEKAR

    28/32

Consumer is treated as the king of marketing. Marketing efforts mustbe directed at meeting consumer needs. Now a days consumer

make a trade off between the quality price and benefits of theproducts. Marketing process starts with identification of consumer

needs and these are turn in to probable features of the product, thenthe probable form of product is made out and presented before theconsumer. The consumer suggests improvement andthen the final

product is brought before the consumer. The term consumer is used to refer to someone who purchases

goods and services for their end use. Consumer is the back born ofall business organisations. Modern marketing begins and ends with

consumers.Modern marketing recognises the consumers supremacy in

marketing. The term consumer is often used to describe twodifferent kinds of consuming entities; the personal consumer and the

    organisational consumer.

    CONCLUSIONS

TATA MOTORS is number three in passengercar market after maruti-suzuki & Hyundai.

Majority of the customers see TATA MOTORSwith savings.

Most of the customers spend large sum ofmoney.

Out of the samples, people are highlyconvinced that TATA MOTORS will yield them

better results. As the sales of Maruti grows as well as

Hyundais santro is still doing well in midsize and small size segment so the INDICAmay be a good options for the company inthis term for sustaining sales in long run as

well as in the current situations.Product will have a gradual progress.

Company.Customers were educated by me, about fuel

    efficient cars by TATA MOTORS.

    SUGGETIONS

Based on the findings from the analysis thefollowing suggestions could be made:Demo of the product should be made

available to Customers, since most of thepurchase decisions are based on it.

Technical details should be made availableto the customers in the most accurate

numerical form.TheIndica has remained a bestseller

throughout in the industry figuring in thetop 3 selling list of cars for most of the

years. The distribution channel should be more

efficient to cater the demand during peakseasons like during dassraa, diwali etc .

The city is mostly dominated by the workingclass like people employed in high court, AGoffice( accountant general office) and

government school employees who this yearare getting more pay due to the

recommendations made by the sixth paycommission so , the sales for mid size car can

    be enhanced in this scenario
