RTI has a long history conducting independent investigations to assist manufacturers and airlines resolve safety issues arising from aircraft accidents and incidents. This includes core competencies and capabilities to investigate, research, and report on both small and catastrophic accidents; analyze material failures; capture forensic imagery; and produce computer animations of flight paths and tutorial visualisations of key technical issues.

Structured to respond quickly to events, RTI maintains a staff much like that of an official governmental investigatory branch or board that enables a managed team approach when required. In fact, the RTI aviation team includes former members of state accident investigation offices and heads of airline and aircraft manufacturing safety departments.

RTI is also the producer of the internationally acclaimed AViCON conferences, a series of aviation disaster management and resolution educational programs.

RTI 720°TM represents the next generation in trial graphics. Moving beyond fixed, linear animations that can only be played, paused and rewound in a digital video player; RTI can explain complex concepts more effectively with the development of the RTI 720° which gives the presenter control of a virtual environment, and makes it possible to quickly adapt visual presentations during trial. From changes in expert testimony to a more powerful cross examination, RTI 720° helps you overcome the limitations of typical computer graphics.

This solution is a fully immersive digital environment that allows the presenter limitless views to tell their story, and observe the scene while the accident occurs. The presenter or user is able to travel through the digital environment and watch the story from various perspectives. The evidence can be virtually explored and investigated from all angles as well as taken apart to explore the inner workings and functions. The power of the RTI 720° also allows instructors to train personnel how to perform a task or procedure without the need of physically putting them in the environment.

RTI's expert witness technical advisory services to attorneys, corporate general counsels, product manufacturers, and insurers have resulted in effective, knowledgeable, and impartial contributions to plaintiffs and defendants in hundreds of cases. We work with our clients to thoroughly understand all aspects of their matter so that we can assign our most appropriate expert witness resources for case presentations, depositions, and testimonies.

At RTI, we believe that every conclusion must be grounded in four steps:

> meticulous investigation of the facts;

> careful engineering and scientific analysis;

> validation of the hypothesized cause of loss or incident; and

> rigorous peer review of methodologies used against widely accepted scientific and engineering methods.

Following these steps ensures that our opinions can be expressed with a reasonable degree of scientific or engineering certainty.

RTI makes a commitment to helping you prepare for trial. Providing key literature and draft exhibits well in advance of your court appearance, we work with you to ensure that our expert witness analyses and opinions are brought into clear focus for the jury and are synergistic with the rest of your case.

RTI is forensic engineering and all that supports it – rigorous, evidence-based science presented clearly and appropriately for the courtroom; scene analysis and accident evaluation using tested methods, as well as cutting edge computerized simulation tools; real-time courtroom animations, grounded in unimpeachable engineering analysis; and a team that is dedicated, above all, to the needs of you and your clients.

One will f ind mechanical engineers working on projects related to nearly every aspect of 21st century life: energy generation and distribution; transportation; food production, packaging and distribution; design and manufacture of biomedical and biomechanical devices; and the design and manufacture of electronic devices that are ubiquitous in our society. All of these projects yield a product that is the result of a combination of ingenuity and careful hard work. Yet as well planned and constructed as a device might be, unintended events do occur. RTI’s international team of mechanical engineers are highly skilled in analyzing a device or system of devices to determine how and why, under the set of conditions to which the device was subjected, the unintended event or events occurred.

Explosion and Blast are a unique form of a catastrophic event. Most people think of explosions as a destructive event caused by bombs, a structure blowing up from accumulated natural gas, or a serious chemical plant explosion. However, most explosions are brought about for a purpose, under planned and controlled conditions. Examples include quarry and coal mining, building demolition, excavation, explosive welding, and metal forming, to name a few. The events that catch our attention are accidental or unintended explosions and often require an answer to the question: what caused it?

RTI knows that effective and efficient Safety Management is a genuinely viable strategy for organizations to not only preserve value within their businesses, but to also add value. In many industry sectors it is already, or will shortly become, a mandatory requirement to design and implement a Safety Management System (SMS). However, it remains that the strongest reason for expending resources on a quality SMS is the benefit to the business itself.

AerExamT M is a cost effective aerial photography and videography solution using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The AerExam has an onboard HD video camera that is controlled by the operator on the ground out of harm's way. The operator is able to view a live feed of the footage while maneuvering the AerExam around the object or over the landscape. The AerExam has a long range and can hover in a stationary position for up to 25 minutes. It can also be flown using FPV (First Person View) whereby the operator does not need to have visual contact with the AerExam.
