He is a member of the Vajra family ofAkobhyawhichalsoincludesVajrapi.Heisdepictedasayoungmanintheprimeoflife,withallthesilksandjewelsofawealthyprince.Inhisrighthandhedelicatelybalancesavajraathisheart.Inhislefthadheholdsabellathiswaist.ThevajrarepresentsReality,andCompassion;whilethebellrepresentsWisdom.InsomemandalasVajrasattvarepresentsthedibuddhaorthePrimordialPrincipleofBuddhahood;inothershechangesplaceswithAkobhyaintheEast.InShingonBuddhismitisVajrasattvathatpassesonthe initiationof theDharmakyaBuddhaMahvairocana toNgrjuna, therebycreating theVajraynalineage.In the mlayogas the practitioner carries out a set of four pactices 100,000 times.
