At present number of NAAC accredited colleges and universities are 292 and 10 respectively.

8 Universities , 76 Colleges , 1 New Professional College and 1 Faculty Improvement Centres have been funded

Objectives• Improve the overall quality of the existing state institutions by ensuring that all

institutions conform to the prescribed norms and standards and adopt accreditation as a

mandatory quality assurance framework.

• Usher transformative reforms in the state Higher education system by creating a facilitating

institutional structure for planning and monitoring at the state level,

promoting autonomy at the State Universities and improving governance in institutions

• Ensure academic and examination reforms in the higher education institutions.

• Enable conversion of some of the universities into research universities at par with the best in

world.

• Create opportunities for states to undertake reforms in affiliation system in order to ensure

that the reforms and the resource requirements of affiliated colleges are adequately met.

Objectives• Ensure adequate availability of quality faculty in all higher educational institutions

to devote themselves to research and innovations.

• Expand the institutional base by creating additional capacity in existing institutions

and establish new institutions, in order to achieve enrollment targets.

• Correct regional imbalances in access to higher education by facilitating access

to high quality institutions in Urban and rural areas, creating opportunities for students from

rural areas to get access to better quality institutions and setting up institutions in un- served

and underserved areas.

• Improve equity in Higher education in providing adequate opportunities of higher

education to SCs/STs and socially and educationally backward classes; promote inclusion of

women, minorities and differently abled persons.

Component 9: Infrastructure Grants to Colleges

750 Colleges to be chosen throughout the Country

Funding of Rs. 2 Crore each

Colleges with valid NAAC/NBA accreditation of over 2.5 and above out of 4, or appropriate grade in NBA will be eligible to apply

Colleges which have been covered in the same component in RUSA 1.0 will not be eligible to apply for funding under this component

The State can spend maximum 50% of the total cost in case of new construction, renovation/upgrade and equipment each. For e.g., the expenditure ratios could be 40:50:10; or 50:30:20; or 45:45:10, etc.

Colleges will be prioritized on the basis of following criteria:
