GAS ANALYSIS APPARATUS NEW MODELS WITH COMPLETELY STANDARDIZED AND

RAPIDLY INTERCHANGEABLE GLASS PARTS

Showing method by which spherical glass joints can be quickly and conveniently attached or detached by means of A.H.T. Co. Pinch Clamps.

GAS ANALYSIS APPARATUS, SHEPHERD, Volumetric Models. For technical or exact analysis of gas mixtures containing carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ethane, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbons, hydrogen, methane, nitrogen and oxygen, by absorption and single or double combustion methods; as designed and modified by Martin Shepherd, 17. S. National Bureau of Standards, Washington, D. C.

The present Volumetric Models incorporate spherical ball-and-socket joints throughout the gas train, which have been standard since 1942, and, for greater versatility, the following: copper oxide tube and heater for fractional combustion of carbon monoxide and hydrogen; single, double and triple reaction tube assemblies for analysis of small concentrations of gases by means of liquid or dry reagents; sectional manifolds and ground glass stoppers for spherical joints for ready exchange of parts of assembly as may be required for specific applications, and distributor tip absorption pipettes, with perforated platinum discs or with Pyrex brand glass fritted filter cylinders for effective gas dispersion.

5881-F.

The earlier 4-place apparatus is retained without provision for attachment of the copper oxide tube and heater, as it is adequate for single combustion technical analysis when equipped with two bubbling pipettes, distributor-tip pipette, and a combustion pipette. For more complex double combustion exact types of analysis, we offer 7-place and 9-place apparatus, which are suggested for fuel analysis.

Burettes in all models are made of mandrel-formed, Pyrex brand glass "precision bore" tubing, with practically perfect uniform bore, which offers obvious advantage for precise work.

The glass parts for all models are completely standardized, and mounted to permit easy removal and rapid interchange-ability. Pipettes and reaction tubes can be cleaned, recharged or rearranged without awkward and time-consuming manipulation. 5880-B. Gas Analysis Apparatus, Shepherd, Volumetric Model, 4-place, for technical analysis by single combustion methods with liquid reagents .

With spherical ball-and-socket ground glass joints, burette graduated from 2 to 100 ml in Vs ml. control stopcock, compensator-manometer, water jacket, two Bubbling Pipettes, Platinum Tip Pipette Combustion Pipette, Safety Shield, Sectional Manifold, gas sampling tube, three leveling bulbs, Pinch Clamps for ball-and-socket, joints, daylight fluorescent lamp, and rubber tubing for connections; mounted on substantial metal support with control panel and heavy cast base. Height overall 48 inches, width 26 inches, depth 16 inches. Complete with G ft. cord and plug; for 115 volts, 60 cycles, a.c 496.50

5881-B. Ditto, 7-place, for exact analysis by double combustion methods with liquid reagents. Generally similar to 58S0-B, but with seven pipette supports, copper oxide tube and heater; three Bubbling Pipettes and two Platinum Tip Pipettes. Height overall 55 i^ inches, width 34 inches, depth 16 inches 662.50

5881-F. Ditto, 9-place, for exact analysis by double combustion methods, using liquid or dry reagents. Generally similar to 5881-B, but with nine pipette supports, copper oxide tube and heater; two Bubbling Pipettes, three Platinum Tip Pipettes, Single Reaction Tube Assembly and Triple Reaction Tube Assembly. Height overall 55'/2 inches, width 39 inches, depth 16 inches 765.50
