Imipramine

Hyperpigmentation: case reportA 63-year-old woman, who had been receiving imipramine

200 mg/day for 30 years for depression, presented with slate-grey pigmentation of her face and the dorsal areas of herhands. The hyperpigmentation had progressively worsenedover the previous 3 years. An examination revealed bluish-greyperiorbital pigmentation with general blue-greyhyperpigmentation in a photodistribution on her face and thedorsal aspects of her hands. A punch biopsy taken from hercheek showed golden-brown granules in the upper and middermis. A Fontana-Masson stain for melanin was positive.[Patient outcome not stated.]Mehr N, et al.
