Reactions 1196 - 5 Apr 2008 Imipramine Hyperpigmentation: case report A 63-year-old woman, who had been receiving imipramine 200 mg/day for 30 years for depression, presented with slate- grey pigmentation of her face and the dorsal areas of her hands. The hyperpigmentation had progressively worsened over the previous 3 years. An examination revealed bluish-grey periorbital pigmentation with general blue-grey hyperpigmentation in a photodistribution on her face and the dorsal aspects of her hands. A punch biopsy taken from her cheek showed golden-brown granules in the upper and mid dermis. A Fontana-Masson stain for melanin was positive. [Patient outcome not stated.] Mehr N, et al.
