ACADEMIC PROJECT DETAILS:

Project title: A New Active Power Factor Correction Controller using Boost Converter.

Description: In an electrical power system, a load with a low power factor draws more

current drawn than a load with a high power factor for the same amount of useful power

transferred.

Especially on the input side also the power factor is not maintained nearer to unity

in many of the systems. Linear low power factor can be corrected with a passive network of

capacitors (or) inductors. Non-linear loads and presence of input capacitors distort the current

drawn from the system. Due to this non-linearity the input current is non-sinusoidal. Hence

the input power factor is poor and the THD is also more.
