Satsanga August 2014 Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya नमो भगव( वासu,वाय This mantra is known as a mukti (liberation) mantra and is a spiritual formula for attaining freedom through surrender. Om, I bow to Lord Vasudeva or Lord Krishna. om = refers to the Supreme Infinite namo = salutation, worship, the Sandhi form of ‘namas’ bhagavate = God in Sanskrit; someone who is consider equally powerful, merciful; one who is becoming divine. vasudevaya = name of Krishna; in the Bhagavad-Gita, Arjuna called Krishna by the name Vaasudeva (son of Vasudeva) multiple times. Discussion on the three gunas (reference: sutras 2.18 and 2.19) What are they? Why are they important? How can they help us understand our true nature? 2.18: Prakasa kriya sthiti silam bhuta indriya atmakam bhoga apavarga artham drisyam Nature, its three qualities, sattva, rajas, and tamas, and its evolutes, the elements, mind, senses of perception and organs of action, exist eternally to serve the seer for enjoyment or emancipation. [BKS Iyengar] 2.19: Visesavisesa linga matralingani guna parvani The gunas generate their characteristic divisions and energies in the seer. Their stages are distinguishable and non-distinguishable, differentiable and non-differentiable.
