Sarvabhauma SatakaSrila Sarvabhauma BhattacharyaOne Hundred Magnanimous Verses Glorifying Sriman Mahaprabhu (A)

Verse 1

O Gaura! May the devotees of the entire world accept these verses in glorification of You which are born of the pure pleasure potency.Verse 2

Overwhelmed by love of God, Sriman Mahaprabhu initiates everyone into the worship of Radha Krishna by floating in ecstasy while engaged in the sankirtana movement.

Verse 3

Chanting in the sweet mood of Radharani, His names are given to the world engulfed in maya. Due to His unprecedented love for Krishna, tears are seen flowing from His eyes just as streams of water form in and out of existence. Seeing His limbs shivering like the wind, His body perspires like never before. Compassionate towards those who are tormented by the age of Kali, He is always eager to teach the living entities about how to unify with Krishna in the mood of the Vraja gopis.

Verse 4Falling into the filthy ocean of this present degraded age, why be bewildered by the gunas or qualities of nature? Absorbed in family life, Gauranga thinks about how to deliver them from the nescience of conservative and bland servitude. Appearing as a mendicant of renowned splendor within the town of Navadvipa, His beautiful body is soulfully alive.

Verse 5

Sriman Mahaprabhu is the sole savior of the age of Kali because only He is interested in pure devotional service based on pure spiritual realization of the purest of the holy names. Burning in hell because of rejecting His form of bhakti, burned by passion and ignorance are they who have no life in the spirit.

Verse 6

Playfully dancing with Gadadhara Pandita,He thus continues His pastimes that He pleasantly demonstrated before the liberated jivas when He was called by the names Radha Krishna.Verse 7

Bitten by the snake of poisoned realizations that results in more of the same old habits of unconsciousness, chanting the holy names and serving the Vaishnavas is the sole medicine worth consuming.

Verse 8

The sweet candy of divine love for the spiritual master is a delicious treat to melt the foolishness of a heart consumed by material desires.

Verse 9

I offer myself wholly to Sri Krishna Chaitanya, the ocean of mercy that is unending and unlimited. O Lord of the universe, transform my soul into the infinite glories of servitude.

Verse 10

Marveling at how You are so engaged in saving the fallen souls from themselves, their families, and their false heroes and leaders, I repeatedly ask You to accept me as one of Your insignificant surrendered servants.Verse 11

Fallen because of being absorbed in the mentality of birth and death, You can do anything to deliver me from the dangers of forgetting You. You are most expert in dealing with the wicked. I thus desire to surrender unto Your magnanimous grace.

Verse 12

As the Lord of all, You bestow all forms of spiritual wealth known to the liberated and to the aspiring devotees of Your Lordship. Maintaining the universe all by Yourself, make my life worthy of mention by successfully protecting me from the enemy of greed and lust.

Verse 13

Hearing about the other Vishnu incarnations glorified in the Puranas, and how They were able to deliver the devotees of Their time, I have full faith that only You in Your present form can remove the stain of sin which makes my heart into a place of pilgrimage for so many demoniac qualities.Verse 14

Dancing like the stars do when with His devotees in Nilachala, the divine sound emanating from the sankirtana movement enchants everyone who hears it with an open heart and mind.

Verse 15

Gazing upon Lord Jagannath and desiring to embrace His form, He falls to the ground in His molten form of gold, stunned by His own ecstasy, unable to move His eyes away from Him.

Verse 16

During that euphoric meeting between the moving and immobile Lord, tears of love are all that can be seen. Shivering all over and His voice unable to project the holy names, He remains unconscious as if for eternity.

Verse 17

Worshiping Radha Krishna for hundreds of lives in order to appreciate Gaurangas style of bhakti, firm in love are they who see Radha Krishna in that One Avatara of Prema.

Verse 18

Increasing your devotion to Sriman Mahaprabhu by increasing your appreciation for Radha Krishna, worshiping either one is not exclusive or separate from the worship of the other.

Verse 19

The charming nature of His eternally smiling lotus face subdues all anxieties in the mirror of the heart, and His throat is as smoothly shaped as a divinely used conch shell. Gaurachandras strong limbs are capable of any type of feat imaginable.

Verse 20

The abode of love, every feature of His form has a transcendental quality attached to it.Verse 21

O friend of the ocean of pure love! Full of craftiness and unable to understand anything about Your pastimes with me, You must be merciful to me in order to live up to Your title as patita pavana.

Verse 22

Raising His arms out of transcendental pride, He requests everyone to just surrender to the chanting of the holy names. Dancing for hours on end out of great love for every part of God, He strikes His chest out of anxiety and rolls in the dirt which has been blessed by His devotees.

Verse 23

I wish to be with the Supreme Person who is so enthusiastic for the holy names that everyone willingly wants to chant alongside Him. His holy name is auspicious to the extent that all obstacles of the mind and body are disintegrated in mere seconds of pure ecstatic feelings.Verse 24

His curly hair is a feast for the spiritual eyes of all spiritualized flowers offered to Him. On His forehead is a nicely decorated sign of the Vaishnava faith, and His ears sportively display long jeweled earrings.

Verse 25

I worship the Supreme Person Gaura Nitai who is covered with sandalwood paste and other scented flavors of divinity. Sweetly walking with ankle bells around His legs and bangles on His wrists, everything about this incarnation is meant to remind you of the glorious and blissful form of unified Radha Krishna.Verse 26

The friend of all poor souls, He wears a saffron cloth on top of His transcendentally captivating body of eternal bliss. He alone being the auspicious abode of bhakti, He alone is worshipable for the purely honest.

Verse 27

Praying to the blissful luminosity that is Sri Krishna Chaitanya, He leaves His former self as Krishna to appear in a new golden form for the iron like who cannot appreciate a spiritual form that is much older than them and their families of ancestors.

Verse 28

Taking shelter at the feet of Gauranga, why has the Godhead exchanged His yellow cloth for an orange cloth indicating the renunciation of worldly desires? The only shelter within the three worlds, His renunciation of His family gives transcendental life to all families that are favorable to His cooling moon like face.Verse 29

Observing how the cosmic manifestation eventually became dominated by the sinful propensities of the fallen, the eternity of Krishna descended into Navadvipa as the most merciful Gaura. Unable to swim out of the ocean of repeated sufferings, Lord Chaitanya is born for the deliverance of the wretches who try to make Kali yuga even more unbearable to the sensitive and awake.

Verse 30

When He decided to manifest Himself, the most low and crazed were instantly reformed by His presence and became the greatest of Vaishnavas.

Verse 31

The already purified Vaishnavas were taken to a new height of devotional ecstasy. Seeing how everyone is bound by material visions of a false reality, the Vaishnavas are so full of compassion that they solely want to tell others about the holy names.

Verse 32

As soon as Gauranga opened up His mouth and let loose the auspicious sounds of what is known as congregational chanting, everyone within His radius became stunned by the wonderful qualities of the Lord. Whether pure or sinful, they all ran to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and danced in a maddened fashion when around the Lord.

Verse 33

It is more than wonderful that even the elderly, sick, childish, and womanly became attracted to being attached to the holy name of Gauranga.

Verse 34

His appearance causing the prisoners of Kali yuga to set themselves free by glorifying the qualities of Lord Chaitanya, everyone is most foolish because of being divinely mad.

Verse 35

Even more astounding than Gauras character is the character of His devoted servants. With their collective purity, they can easily convert the entire world to the graces of prema bhakti.Verse 36

Spiritually attractive because of all of the care He puts into His bodily image, His pride is transcendental because of His desire to draw in new souls to the bhakti lata bija waiting to grow within the soul.

Verse 37

Wanting to remember His qualities, pastimes, name and form through the instrument of the mind, my friends, sons, and relatives shall serve Him for hundreds of lifetimes to come.

Verse 38

O God! My tongue is destined to chant Your spiritual potencies. My ears are destined to hear Your qualities. My mind is destined to focus on the hidden meanings of Your adventures in the spiritual world. My eyes are destined to see Your eternal form, and my head is destined to offer humble obeisances.

Verse 39All of Sri Krishna Chaitanyas devotees are diamonds of absolute perfection. They are the personified forms of bliss especially meant for the propagation of the sankirtana movement. Burning in hell, love of God is the solution to all problems.

Verse 40

A particular country or nation may become very degraded very fast, and may distance themselves from all sound religious principles, but if the people take to Lord Chaitanyas sankirtana movement and perform hari nama daily, then they will surely attain all success in all endeavors related to morality and social betterment.

Verse 41

If opposed to the bona fide sampradayas, Lord Chaitanya has come to help the most unfortunate re-gain a strong foothold in the spiritual world of eternity, knowledge and bliss.

Verse 42In other ages, He selectively chose certain souls to further His mission of spiritual love, but due to the magnanimity of the holy names, this time He does not discriminate between the devotees and the non-devotees; thus allowing everyone to serve His stunning golden lotus form of absolute transcendental purity.

Verse 43

Destroying their misconceptions about Him with every loud shout, their minds are as if in samadhi every time they see Him humbly serve the drunkards who have lost their minds due to cheating themselves out of the supreme goal of life.

Verse 44

The saddest creatures of the earth rejoiced and joined the Lord in His sankirtana movement; knowing that congregational chanting is the essence of all devotional practices.

Verse 45Staunchly devoted to His grace, the character of a Vaishnava is one of pure sweetness. Not offended by the faults of the cowardly and pretentious, they wipe away the mud of the sinful living entities. Making Navadvipa the center of godly nectar, His mercy defeats the glories of the Vedas by a long shot.Verse 46

Crushed and belittled by the tall and fearsome waves of maya, Lord Chaitanya catches hold of the jiva souls feet so as to clearly teach that fortunate particle of God about the mercy inherent in listening to the Vaishnavas who give discourses on the science of repeating the holy names belonging to Godhead.

Verse 47

By His order, the sublime among the Vaishnava communities spend their time traveling to every town and village interested or not in God consciousness to elucidate on the meanings of being an atmarama.

Verse 48

Gauranga is the master of everything while still being a friend to everyone. He jump started a new mood of ecstasy throughout the great land of India.

Verse 49Joyously participating in the ocean of soul inspired delight, everyone who used to get drunk on cheap wine now becomes intoxicated by the wine of Lord Chaitanyas form. No longer having to suffer from the poison of ignorance, a bright lamp of knowledge now shines throughout the cosmic manifestation.

Verse 50

Finding no other means of obtaining mercy, completely absorb yourself in the natural happiness which constantly exudes from the frame of Gaurangas transcendental consciousness.Verse 51

The most sinful who are caught between the torments of pains and false pleasures such as gambling, illicit sex life, material intoxication, and meat eating, are quickly purified by the transcendental arrow of the holy name specifically aimed by the erudite mouth of Gaura. Lord Chaitanya is the universe within every universe and is the controller of everyones spiritual progress into the cosmos of ever fresh bhakti.

Verse 52

Solely desiring to teach about the Name, He befriends those who have a similarly deep attraction to the sound which came before Om. His bright appearance is supremely sweet because of being eternally relishable or enjoyable. Enchanting everyone with one glance of eternal splendor, His words are very cooling to the soul burnt asunder by the rage of mundane terrestrial forms of Shiva.

Verse 53He is most compassionate because of His choice to eternally descend through His transcendental sound vibration whenever it is accepted as a friend. Causing the cosmic manifestation to implode upon itself when His body starts to shiver with the speed of Shivas exhausting rage, He is the only giver of devotional love because of being the sole living entity to taste it more than once. Best among the dancers, may He kindly dance upon my heart.

Verse 54

The scintillating moods of prema exhibited by Gauranga perfectly exemplified the teachings of the Vedas, thus defeating the need to study the worship of mundane elemental gods who are more than puffed up. The Source of all incarnations, He burns to ashes the rotting bodies of former so called demigods and rulers, controllers, and idol makers, by giving them a new spiritual body made of the vibrations of prema. Always immersed in pastimes of samadhi with His friends, He is the best of dancers for a divine reason.Verse 55

Incomparable and hard to find an exact duplicate like all other created things, He relishes transcendental rasas as a favorite hobby of sorts. Every living entity falls into trance upon seeing Him in His infinity of play. Of the most profound degree of pure goodness, who can beat Him in His dance of love in separation?

Verse 56

His tears, accentuated by eyes which are as large as infinite universes, release all jiva souls from the prison house that is liberation and bondage. Agitating thousands upon thousands of goddesses of fortune with His transcendental good looks, may He bless me to dance with Him upon a full moon night.

Verse 57

Gaurachandra is now sharing His essence with all natures, whether fallen or care free. His nectar thus effectively wipes out the plague of ignorance of spiritual realization that has now become fashionable to blindly believe in. The warrior of God for the poor and destitute, He is the ultimate realm of transcendentally true realism. The seer within the realm of Vraja is reminded of His original sight upon seeing the self same Lord popularizing the hare krsna maha mantra.

Verse 58

Lord Chaitanya is the crown resting upon the heads of all knowers of transcendental mellows, and is thus the center of the gravity of rasa. Bewildered by Krishnas name, His qualities are deeper than more oceans that are countable by the best of minds. Extremely sobering and grave, there is no comparison to His beautiful conceptions of reality.

Verse 59

A fruit of wonder for everyone who tastes His nectar form by chanting and serving His lotus feet, everything about Him is as fresh as a lotus flower.

Verse 60He brings an end to the age of Kali by being the essence of loving dealings with all the peoples of the world. The supreme glory, there is no other glory worth counting on.Verse 61

God is the ultimate grace. Making everything that He adorns Himself in into an object of some jiva souls liberation, even once favorably looking upon the descriptions of Godheads personality is enough to ensure a total change of heart upon awakening to the personal beauty of the untouchable and uncontaminated Highest Absolute Realization of Eternal Krishna Consciousness.

Verse 62

Converting everyone left and right by the sheer graciousness of His presence, the holy name has never been so popular as it is now. Every single jiva seen sporting a garland of His names and a Vaishnava tilaka that is as fresh as the perspiring blades of grass, O Lord Hari, continue to lead us out of the consciousness of blasphemy.

Verse 63Praying to Krishna for the sake of manifesting His mercy, He prays thus, O ocean of eternity! Please kindly remove the living entities who are unnecessarily burning in the mode of ignorance that is the forest fire of material life. Mercifully distribute Your personal wealth of prema bhakti. Only Sacinandana can praise God in this way while praying to Him.

Verse 64

Wanting to quickly awaken the morose and sullen living entities of Kali yuga, no longer frightened are they who enthusiastically take to chanting the name of God while playing musical instruments and dancing in a frenzy of ecstatic emotions conductive to self realization.

Verse 65

Gaurasundara, instructing His disciples, He commands them to personally install Radha Krishna deities in every household and hut in order to relish the sight of Govindas three fold bending form.Verse 66

His eyes are as stunning as every other part of His form; for the Godhead is the culmination of billions of years of a sublime spiritual evolution that is known only to His associates who possess similar bodily features. I offer all that my intelligence possesses in order to ask Him where He keeps running off to when out of my view.

Verse 67

The beauty of His bashful face draws in the innocent from all corners of the cosmos because of radiating a pale moon like glow that is as irresistible to look at as it is difficult to draw your eyes away from.

Verse 68

His teeth are like strings of shiny pearls that at once causes envy in the hearts of thieves and soulful ecstasy in the hearts of those who have affection for Him. Sometimes assuming the royal internal posture of a lion, He is walking about as if nothing can harm Him.Verse 69

Just as the soul never dies, similarly, the flowers covering Gauras broad chest never wilts or loses its aesthetic value. Hearing only, bhakti, bhakti, instead of, mukti, mukti, His ears are our ears when we approach Him to save us from being so fallen.

Verse 70

His waist and thighs are as slim and strong as the punctured sky is by the darkness of the night and the ensuing mysticism of stars bleeding to be born again into more noble creations. His feet resembling the shell of a healthy tortoise, no one can walk on Him without feeling the absolute heaviness of space.Verse 71

O Gaurasundara! I will lose my composure and desire to live if You do not allow me to surrender and to have Your lotus feet as my divine shelter. May I repeatedly pray to You in this mercy begging fashion.

Verse 72

Everything that You do, including looking down upon Your jewel like nails, is an act of transcendence that can only be relished by those who treat You as being better than gold.

Verse 73

Not having to fear any mortal friend or for because of having seen a flag and thunderbolt imprinted upon the soles of Your lotus feet, You are the perfection of someone who has managed to fully surrender to God without feeling ashamed of exclusively loving the truth of the reality of the ultimate effectiveness of bhakti yoga.Verse 74

Terrified of the tragedies of Kali yuga, and too weak to obtain Your mercy by certain spiritual practices aimed at liberation through knowledge, may I be one of those fallen souls who is cleared of all offenses and lapses in spiritual perception. What more can I say to convince others of Your mercy? You are the shelter which all eventually turn to when face down in the mud of sinful activities.

Verse 75

A character such as Yours could have only been the result of Saci Devis intense pining for the Lord. Directly instructing the people about the holy names, You are primarily teaching them about how it is good to be exclusively attached to God and to God Consciousness. Before listless and depressed, now they dance within the circle of the sankirtana movement with ecstatic loving feelings. Crying because of recognizing their great fortune, they teach others about Lord Hari through their living example of enthusiasm in relation to devotional service.Verse 76

With the appearance of Gauranga within the vision of the ripened heart of mysticism, every jiva soul spontaneously takes to the fundamental spiritual practice of always speaking about Krishna to the extent that no living entity is ever going to be tormented by the cruel tricks of maya devi. While in ecstasy, they most happily discuss the importance of vibrating His name.

Verse 77

Some who are inclined towards more difficult paths have appeared in the prior ages and have reached the type of perfection desired by their soul through punishing their senses and rendering everything into a void of impersonal speculation.

Verse 78Fortunately, for the people of Kali yuga, they attain the merciful vision of Govinda by chanting the names and by obtaining the darshan of Chaitanya Deva.

Verse 79

Scrubbing the universe of its desire to fall from its original position of transcendental servitude, Sri Krishna Chaitanya offers everyone a garland of the holy names of Krishna so that they can smell His essence within their hearts of innocent pure like tendencies.

Verse 80

They who aware of the internal identity of Lord Chaitanya glorify Him by singing about the pastimes and activities of Lord Hari, and serve the Vaishnavas who are eternally blessed by Vishnus grace. They alone are seen to be greedy for the Lords devotional service.Verse 81

Knowing for certain that Gauranga is God, His devotees spend all of their time in hearing topics centered on associating with sadhus who are holy because of chanting the name with all of their attention.

Verse 82

Sri Krishna Chaitanya opens up the market place of the holy names by preaching directly about them through indulging in the nectar of bhakti; which is of the variety that is auspicious for every living entity inside and outside of this world. Making God available to all, the receiver of the grace of the holy name becomes qualified to deliver others from their ignorance of the practical and sublime uses of Gods sankirtana movement.

Verse 83

A conditioned soul may have great respect and reverence for the community of Vaishnavas and may engage in daily sankirtana practices; but if undesirous of the personal association of Sriman Mahaprabhu, that person is not to be recognized as a real devotee.

Verse 84

It is utterly useless to worship Lord Hari with an undivided mind and be the best of brahmins or take pride in being a frustrated karmi if averse to Gaurasundara. Neither glorious nor a knower of God, Gaura can fulfill all desires by fulfilling the one desire to love God.

Verse 85

Why should you desire to love the Godhead when completely overlooking the desire to love the Golden Avatara, who is the Source of all ephemeral and bright lights in the material and spiritual skies? Such jivas are only misleading themselves into delusional states of so called superiority; thinking that they can take birth into this world without wanting to surrender to the most recent divine incarnation of the personalized form of the Personal Absolute.Verse 86

I eagerly await the day when I will muster up the courage to surrender to the reddish lotus feet of Gauranga. O beloved Vaishnavas! You are my one eternal family that I can count on in all circumstances of an elevated and degraded nature. Please look upon this poor and foolish suffering soul, and elevate me to the point of being able to chant His names. My mind will finally be soothed by the sankirtana movement of Lord Chaitanya.

Verse 87

Losing all taste for fame, fortunes, followers, faithful servants and family members, all of these so called benedictions are no better than attempting to kiss a ferociously vicious snake. The one benediction that I do ask for is to serve Your lotus feet lifetime after lifetime.

Verse 88

O lotus born Lord of the infinite universe! I am tormented and weighed down by the miseries of a worldly mind which is bereft of all transcendental memories of Govinda.

Verse 89

Hating to spend another lifetime in forgetfulness of You, why have I been permitted to swim in so many universes for such a long and dreadful amount of time? Out of transcendental anxiety, may I approach Your lotus feet for one last time.

Verse 90

I am now in a lowly condition of an already overly conditioned life. Everyone whom You come across has fallen in love with You. Why is it that You continue to mercifully neglect me the way You so characteristically choose to do?Verse 91

Other powerful and elevated personalities may be able to deliver others, but You, O Gaura, are my only Savior since You are the only Hero who cares for the fallen souls of every fallen universe.

Verse 92

At the expense of my life or at the cost of my own many deaths, may I gladly continue to remember Your transcendentally resplendent golden form of prema bhakti pure and simple.

Verse 93

You come to teach about Your loving pastimes by inaugurating a whole new series of pastimes for people like me to remember You by.Verse 94

Whatever I have been able to say about You is an offering of pure love on my part. Though not qualified, may I be fortunate enough to stick to Your lotus feet as Radharani sticks to Krishnas beloved flute.

Verse 95

You are the Supreme Independent Entity. Being such a great transcendental personality, You have kindly accepted a form which is full of love for the living entities bound to You or to maya devi.

Verse 96

O friend of the forsaken! Loosen my shackles of worldly desires and let me approach You without delay. Allow me to chant Your spotless name and visit the hearts of all who have seen You in Your primeval glory.

Verse 97

Please pardon me of anything which I may have said, done or thought throughout the vast expanse of eternity. Please allow me to be kind enough to kindly worship You in a way that is both pleasing to You and the forsaken jiva souls.

Verse 98

Giving up all material conceptions of shame and anguish, I humbly pray for Your loving service that is nothing but a primeval event of eternal forms of mercy. Keep me at Your lotus feet by keeping me busy with Your devotional outpourings of love in separation.

Verse 99

Tired of drowning in oceans of misery and self defeat, You are the answer to all of my forlorn and desperate prayers. Chanting Your holy name is the only prayer worth saying because You are the only Lord worth loving.

Verse 100

Non different from Vrajendranandana, I offer my soul as my final prayer to You and Your associates in Navadvipa and Svetadvipa. I only ask to one day be qualified to serve You in Your love incarnation.
