Citalopram

Dysosmia: case reportA 17-year-old boy was diagnosed with a major depressive

disorder and started receiving citalopram 10 mg [frequencynot stated], which was increased to 20mg [frequency notstated] after 10 days. His citalopram dosage was furtherincreased to 40 mg/day as he had no significant improvementin symptoms. Approximately 7 weeks after citalopraminitiation, he developed a sense of unfavourable andintolerable smell. Physical examination did not reveal anyunderlying cause. After about 9 weeks of citalopram therapy,the medication was tapered, and 6 days after citalopramcessation, the smell disappeared.Ghanizadeh A. Unfavorable smell with citalopram?
