Tachycardia and hypertension: case reportA 35-year-old man developed sinus tachycardia and
hypertension during treatment with imipramine.The man was diagnosed with major depression and
started receiving imipramine which was titrated to 50mgdaily in 2001 [initial dosage and route not stated]. In January2009, his imipramine dosage was increased to 100mg dailydue to exacerbated depression. In early April, he found tohave tachycardia (140 beats/min) during a check-up.Additionally, he had a BP of 145-156/80-85mm Hg. Noepisodes of palpitations, dyspnoea, chest pain, facialflushing, headache or dizziness were noted. An ECGshowed sinus tachycardia. Drug-induced sinus tachycardiaand hypertension were suspected.
