Measuring Water Level by Ground Water Department

❖ JSA is a promising approach to improve the water crisis in the District.

❖ JSA provided a much needed platform to bring Government officials and Citizens

together.

❖Works taken up under the campaign enhanced the water storage capacity across

the District followed by good rain in the month September and October 2019 gave

short term relief to water problem.

❖ As a part of the Campaign 142 Traditional Step Wells in the district were restored

to their lost glory with a sustainability plan in place.

❖ Special initiative “Chilume”, “JeevaJala”, “Koti-Nati”, “Signature Campaign” has

received tremendous response from public and created awareness about

importance of water conservation.

Outcome of JSA

❖Since 01.10.2019, 555 new works under water conservation and rain water harvesting

are on going, 59 under renovation of traditional water bodies, 25 reuse and recharge

structures, 1133 watershed development works, 3272 intensive afforestation works have

already been taken up under Phase 2 Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

❖Stringent administrative action will be taken to prevent and remove encroachment near

water bodies.

❖Focus will be given for installation of Rain Water Harvesting structures in individual

households.

❖Afforestation will be taken up with more vigour as forested catchments supply a high

proportion of water for domestic, agricultural, industrial and ecological needs, help

regulate climate, store carbon, and reduce flooding and storm water runoff.

❖In the medium term, focus will be given to Grey water treatment and reuse of reclaimed

water for non-potable and industrial purposes.

Thank You
