    MINERAL PRODUCTION SCENARIO

    India produces as man! as $0 minerals hich include fuel* 10 metallic* 30 non-

    metallic* + atomic and 2+ minor minerals. The total value of countr!=s mineral production

    touched the peak level of s.73*014 crores durin" 200-03 ith a contribution of around

    2.4# to the countr!=s 6P.

    As re"ards Andhra Pradesh* the value of mineral production as s.%*2+7 crores

    in 200-03. Almost all important minerals are produced in the state. The principal mineral

     produced in the state are coal* natural "as (utilised)* limestone* petroleum (crude)* bar!tes*

    dolomite* sand (others)* iron ore* man"anese ore and mica (crude)* hich to"ether accounted

    for 70# of the total value of mineral production in the &tate durin" 200-03. ,oal alone

    contributed 3+# of the total value of mineral production in the state. >alue-ise production

    of important minerals durin" 200-03* vis-?-vis India is "iven in Table-2 to 5.

    Andhra Pradesh claims the first position amon" the states in the countr! ith a
