WILEY LABORATORY MILL, Standard Model No . 2 . For the p repa ra t ion , with minimal loss of moisture from heat­ing, of a wide var ie ty of materials for l abora to ry analysis such, for example , as :

a n i m a l hair, b o n e s , fertilizer mater ia ls , grain, leather, p last ics , s e e d , tanning materials , etc.

Now furnished with either a d e e p , cast-aluminum d r a w e r with rounded inner corners, 2 8 oz . capaci ty , which can b e withdrawn from the front, or an in te rchangeable chute for collecting the sample directly in a s t andard screw neck glass jar, 16 oz . capaci ty , or in a b a g , t a b l e d rawer , etc.

Four h a r d e n e d steel knives on a revolving shaft work with a shearing action aga ins t six knives bol ted into the frame. The shearing action of the cutting e d g e s , be tween which there is a lways a c learance , tends to avoid changes in the sample such as t empera tu re rise, loss of moisture, liquefaction, contamination, etc., making this Mill satisfactory for many materials which can not b e reduced by other mechanical means.

A sieve is dovetai led into the frame so that none of the material comes from the grinding chamber until it can pass through the mesh. Mill without motor is 2 2 Vi inches high and occupies floor s p a c e 14 'Λ χ 18 inches. Motor driven model is mounted on heavy pedes ta l b a s e 16V4 inches high. Motor support built into the b a s e is hinged for adjusting bel t tension by means of a wrench.
