ET SPECIAL: Get latest Dollar price updates on your mobile Avantha Power synchronises 600 MW unit of Raigarh plant in Chhattisgarh Gautam Thapar-led Avantha Power & Infrastructure has synchronised its first unit of 600 mw at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, making way for its commercial operations to start soon, the company said in a release. Synchronisation refers to the first stage of commissioning, where the plant is run on oil to test if it is ready to operate commercially. The Avantha Group's power utility's capacity now stands at 626.19 mw. "With this milestone, the company progresses towards our vision of achieving a market position based on solid execution, growth and accomplishment," Gautam Thapar, founder and chairman of the Avantha Group, was quoted as saying in the release. Avantha Power began construction in August 2010 and successfully executed the project in 38 months. BHEL has supplied the boiler, turbine, and generator equipments. Avantha Power has another 1,860 mw under various stages of construction and an additional 1,320 mw under planning. "This marks the commencement of a new phase for Avantha Power and our presence in the independent power producer segment. We are aggressively progressing with our plans of adding to the installed capacity," Avantha Power's Chief Operating Officer K.N. Neelkant, said in the statement. Avantha Power currently has a plant at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh with an installed capacity of 26 mw. Avantha Power & Infrastructure, is a part of the Rs 25,000 crores Avantha Group.
