Temporary obturator nerve paresis followingspray administration: case report
A 58-year-old man underwent laparoscopic totallyextraperitoneal repair for bilateral hernia. At the end of theprocedure, 0.25% bupivacaine 15mL [Sensorcaine] wassprayed in the extraperitoneal space, and his incisions wereinfiltrated with another dose of 0.25% bupivacaine 15mL aslocal anaesthesia. A few hours later, he complained ofdifficulty getting out of bed. A neurological exam revealedweakness of right hip adduction. He was instructed tocontinue with bed rest until his symptoms resolved. About6 hours later, he was able to move his right leg withoutdifficulty, and was able to walk. He was discharged afteranother 36 hours and remained will at follow-up.
