    Dear Sir,

    Ref : Information under RTI Act about Meeting of IIT council held on14.09.2011 to bring out a whole new change in pattern of prevalent IIT-JEE

    Please share the following information under RTI Act2005 :-1. Who are the members of the IIT council conducting meeting with Shri Kapil

    Sibal ? Please give the name, address, educational background, profession, date

    of birth, department and name of the institute of all the members of thesaid IIT Council who have the powers to suggest /recommend their views

    through these meetings ?

    2. Besides the above members of the IIT Council, which other members havethe powers to suggest reforms in the examination patterns of IIT-JEE ?Please give the name, address, education, date of birth and profession of

    such persons.

    3. What was the basis of selection of members in the aforesaid IIT Counciland what integrity check had been done to prevent people like P. J. Thomas

    (of CVC) being included in such nationally important education panel ?

    4. Please provide the name of person (s) who are empowered to accept therecommendations/ideas/views/proposal, etc. of the members of the aforesaid

    IIT Council engaged to reform the selection procedure to IIT .

    5. Are the members of the IIT Council aware that the suggestions/views/proposal/recommendations/suggestions given by them might be acceptedby the accepting authority turning up into a future policy of national

    significance ?

    6. Are the members of the IIT Council aware that if their recommendations faildue to some reason it might lead to deterioration in the quality of students

    making into IIT and ruin the reputation of the great institution called IIT ?

    7. Which superior authority (ies) has directed that such a meeting/council (aimed atreforming the Selection procedure to IITs ) be formed to look into these aspects?

    Please provide the name, designation , educational background of such authorities?

    8. Has there been any scientific or statistical study conducted on current studentsor ex-students to ascertain that they had been under unbearable pressure

    during the preparatory period of IIT-JEE or during the four year (or so) B.

    Tech course ? If so, a complete copy of the such study/report/document may

    kindly be given.9. Have IIT Authorities conducted any survey for the distinguished past alumni of

    IIT about what could be the needs for improving the existing system of selection ?

    If so how many of such past alumni ( give break up of those in India and also in

    Abroad) have given their feedback in this regard ?10.Does the present council possess any such written documents/ suggestions/feedback from present or past IIT students about the actual need ofimplementation of reforms in the selection procedure of IIT-JEE ?

    11.In the recent press meeting, the IIT Council declared that 50% weightagewould be given to a students Board percentile score and other 50%weightage would be given to the performance in the performance in the IIT-

    JEE. This implies that a student need to focus equally on the two

    examinations . Accordingly, none of the examination can be ignored. Which

    authority has propounded this suggestion ? What is the recorded basis / noting forarriving at the possible cause and effect of such a suggestion?

    12.Another reform being considered by IIT Council is also to have a singleJEE in place instead of a separate IIT-JEE and AIEEE ? Is it true ?

    13. The first reform demands student to concentrate on two examinations insteadof one and the second theory suggest IIT Council want a student to

    concentrate on one examination only. Please give the name of members ofwho evinced these contradictory policy prescriptions.

    14.A copy of the document(s) citing reasons to set up committee headed byRamasami, Kakodkar, Sanjay Dandhe and Devang Khakhar may kindly be

    given.15.Please intimate the amount required to be deposited to have a copy of all

    the above stated committees report till this date.

    16.What are the reasons recorded by the HRD Ministry to revamp radically thepattern of IITJEE entrance examination ?

    17.Minutes of the last meeting of IIT Council with Shri Kapil Sibal may kindlybe given.

    18.Is there any provision for disciplinary action if, in future, it is found thatthe suggested reforms were not correct and has to be changed again ?
