SImipramine overdose

Ischaemic colitis: case reportIschaemic colitis developed in a 48-year-old man after an

overdose of alcohol and imipramine [quantity not stated].On admission, the patient was comatose and hypotensive

with no urinary output. The next day he was observed to haveabdominal distention and absent bowel sounds.

Laparotomy revealed that the colon was cyanosed, withgangrene of the sigmoid colon which was almost perforated.
