SPECIFICATION KARL FISCHER TITRATION OUTFIT For determination of water content ELECTROMETRIC TITRATION OUTFIT FOR DETERMINATION OF WATER CONTENT, Karl Fischer Method, A.H.T. Co. Specification. For the quantitative determination of small amounts of water by titration with iodine-sulfur dioxide reagent. Par- ticularly suitable for the determination of moisture in a great variety of solid, liquid and gaseous samples because it is more rapid, dependable, specific and uni- versally applicable than the common methods of oven drying, distillation or absorption. Further adaptation of the method permits analytical control of reactions which quantitatively absorb or liberate water. Adopted by A.S.T.M. for moisture test according to standard method D-890-51. Also suitable for determination of water in paints and varnishes (titration method) as described in Federal Specification TT-P-141b, method 408.2. Tests are made in inexpensive commercial jars with G.C.M.I. No. 63 standard screw thread, 140 and 250 ml capacity, respec- tively, which can be used interchangeably in the threaded cap of the Titration Cell. Samples of SO ml are generally used and several can be prepared in advance as the screw capped jars prevent moisture change. Detection of the endpoint by means of platinum electrodes and electron ray "magic eye" tube offers dependable and uniform results, and is particularly useful in analyses producing highly obscured endpoints. Magnetic stirring affords advantages of simplicity and external application of power to produce stirring action. Consisting of paired reservoir burettes, 25 ml capacity in Via ml, with automatic zero adjustment, long angled tips, and 1000 ml reservoirs; a simplified titration cell with G.C.M.I. standard thread No. 63; a Serfass Electron Ray Control Unit with electron ray tube in separate cylindrical housing, and a Magnetic Stirring Apparatus with external rheostat and stirring magnets, mounted on a corrosion-resistant support with Coors U.S.A. porcelain base and Spring-Grip clamps. ELECTROMETRIC TITRATION OUTFIT FOR DETERMINATION OF WATER CONTENT, Karl Fischer Method, A.H.T. Co. Specification. For the quant i ta t ive determination of small amounts of water by t i tration with iodine-sulfur dioxide reagent. Particularly suitable for the determination of moisture in a great variety of solid, liquid and gaseous samples because it is more rapid, dependable, specific and universally applicable than the common methods of oven drying, distillation or absorption. Fur ther adaptat ion of the method permits analytical control of reactions which quanti tat ively absorb or liberate water. Adopted by A.S.T.M. for moisture test according to s tandard method D-890-51. Also suitable for determination of water in paints and varnishes (titration method) as described in Federal Specification TT-P-141b, method 408.2.

Tests are made in inexpensive commercial jars with G.C.M.I. No. 63 standard screw thread, 140 and 250 ml capacity, respectively, which can be used interchangeably in the threaded cap of the Titration Cell.
