Citalopram
Reversible chorea in an elderly patient: case reportA 66-year-old woman with a mild depressive episode, began
receiving oral citalopram 20mg once daily. While receivingcitalopram, she developed choreiform movements in her face, trunk and limbs [duration of therapy to reaction onset notstated]. Citalopram was discontinued and within 1 month herinvoluntary movements had ceased. An extensive diagnosticwork-up failed to identify any alternative cause for hersymptoms.
Author comment: "An extensive diagnostic work-up. . . did not reveal any other alternative etiologies, suggestinga causal association between citalopram treatment and thechoreiform movement disorder."Luessi F, et al.
