Clomipramine
Pisa syndrome: case reportA 56-year-old woman, who was prescribed
clomipramine 9 x 25mg tablets daily for depression inSeptember 2003, developed left trunk flexionapproximately 2 months after starting the medication.Examination revealed left trunk flexion, shift of her centre ofgravity to the left, and mildly unstable gait. Horizontal x-rays showed a lateral long C curve and Cobb angle of 30°.Pisa syndrome was suspected and her clomipraminedosage was reduced to 3 x 25mg tablets daily. About2 weeks after the dosage reduction, her abnormal posturesgradually improved and, after 1 month, her trunk flexionresolved. As of March 2007, she had normal gait.
