    चिन्तयामास भगवान ्हरि: कािणमानुष:।तद्देशकाल अनुगणुं स्वावतािप्रयोजनम॥् भा। 10-50,6 cintayāmāsa bhagavān hari: kāraṇamānuṣa:।taddeśakāla anuguṇaṃ svāvatāraprayojanam॥

  • Balarama had bound him by ropes and was about to kill him when Krishna stopped it, as there were many things to be achieved through him.

    बध्यमानं हतािाशशं पाशै: वारुणमानुष:ै।वाियामास गोववन्द: तेन काययचिकीषयया॥ भा। 10-50,32 badhyamānaṃ hatārāśiṃ pāśai: vāruṇamānuṣai:।vārayāmāsa govinda: tena kāryacikīrṣayā॥

  • Every time the Vrishnis destroyed his

    forces without any remnant, thanks to

  • Calling by his side to that spot the cowherds, Sri Krishna who was well-versed in play, said, “O cowherd boys, let us play dividing ourselves suitably into two camps.”

    वषृ्णीनां प्रविो मन्त्री कृष्णस्य दनयत: सखा।शशष्यो बहृस्पते: सािात ्उद् वो बुद्च सिम:॥ भा। 10.46.1.

  • O Uddhava! O dear one! You must go up

    Gokula, You have to cheer our parents

    Nanda and Yashoda. You have also got to

    assuage the grief of the Gopis, arising from

    separation from me.

    गच्छ उद् व व्रजं सौम्य वपत्रो: नौ प्रीनतमावह।गोपीनां मद्ववयोगाच ं मत्सन्देशै: ववमोिय॥ भा। 10.46.3.

  • I repeatedly solute the dust of the feetof the blessed women of Nanda’s

    whose loud singing of the stories of SriKrishna purifies the three worlds.

    वन्दे नन्दव्रजस्त्रीणां पादिेणुम ्अभीक्ष्णश:।यासां हरिकर्थोद्गीतं पुनानत भुवनत्रयम॥् भा। 10.47.63.

    praiseworthy and friend. We ever deserve

    to be protected, nourished treated with

    compassion by you, as a matter of fact,

    since we are your children.

    त्वं नो गुरु: वपतवृ्यश्ि श्लाघयो बन् ुश्ि ननत्यदा।वयं तु िक्ष्या: पोष्याश्ि अनुकम्प्या: प्रजा द्रह व:॥ भा। 10.48.29.

    sa yācitō maṇiṁ kvāpi yadurājāya śauriṇā।naiva arthakāmuka: prādād yācñābhaṅgam atarkayan॥ Bhā। 10-56,12

  • “Surely my brother, who had gone to the forestwith the gem about his neck, has been killed bySri Krishna!” Hearing that people spread therumor in a whisper from ear to ear.

    प्राय: कृष्णेन ननहतो मणणग्रीवो वनं गत:।भ्राता ममेनत तच्छरुत्वा कणे कणेऽजपचजना:। भा।

    prāya: kṛṣṇena nihato maṇigrīvo vanaṃ gata:।bhrātā mameti taccharutvā karṇe karṇe'japañjanā:। Bhā – 10-56,16

  • When the Lord learnt this, He followed the tracks of the Prasena along with some citizens of Dwaraka in order to wipe off the imputation cast on Him.

    भगवांस्तदपुश्रुत्य दयुयशो शलप्तमात्मनन।माष््ंु प्रसेनपदवीम ्अवपद्यत नागिै:॥भा।bhagavāṃstadupaśrutya duryaśo liptamātmani।mārṣṭuṃ prasenapadavīm avapadyata nāgarai:॥ Bhā। 10-56,17

    असौ वकृोदि: पार्थय: तस्य भ्राताजुयनो ह्ययम।्अनयोमायतुलेयं मां कृष्णं जानीद्रह ते रिपुम॥् भा 10-72,29

    asau vṛkodara: pārtha: tasya bhrātārjuno hyayam।anayormātuleyaṃ māṃ kṛṣṇaṃ jānīhi te ripum॥ bhā

  • I shall not fight with you. You are a coward andlost balance of mind in battle. Afraid of me youabandoned your city, Mathura, and took shelterin the sea.

    न त्वया भीरुणा योत्स्ये युच ववक्लविेतसा।मर्थुिां स्वपुि ं त्यक्त्वा समिंु शिणं गत:॥ भा। 10-72,31

    na tvayā bhīruṇā yotsye yudhi viklavacetasā।mathurāṃ svapurīṃ tyaktvā samudraṃ śaraṇaṃ gata:॥

  • As for Arjuna, he is no warrior. He is junior to me in age and has no great prowess either. He is, therefore no match for me. Bhima is equal in strength to me.

    अयं तु वयसा तुल्यो नानतसत्त्वो न मे सम:।अजुयनो न भवेद् योद् ा भीमस्तुल्यबलो मम॥ भा। 10-72,32

    ayaṃ tu vayasā tulyo nātisattvo na me sama:।arjuno na bhaved yoddhā bhīmastulyabalo mama॥

    गरुुशुश्रूषणे जजष्ण:ु कृष्ण: पादावनेजने।परिवेषणे िपदजा कणाय दाने महामना:॥ भा। 10-75-5 guruśuśrūṣaṇe jiṣṇu: kṛṣṇa: pādāvanejane।pariveṣaṇe drapadajā karṇāe dāne mahāmanā:॥

  • Krishna too resolved in mind to marry her, considering her a fitting bride for himself, as she was the repository of great qualities like intelligence, auspicious features, generosity, beauty and agreeability in nature and habits.

    तां बुद्च -लिण-औदायय-रूप-गणुाश्रयाम।्कृष्णश्ि सदृशीं भायां समदु्वोढंु मनो द े॥ भा। 10-52,24

    tāṃ buddhi-lakṣaṇa-audārya-rūpa-guṇāśrayām।kṛṣṇaśca sadṛśīṃ bhāryāṃ samudvoḍhuṃ mano dadhe॥

  • Having heard, O immortal Lord, most handsome in all the three worlds of your excellences…

    शु्रत्वा गणुान ्भुवनसुन्दि। भा। 10-52,37 śrutvā guṇān bhuvanasundara। bhā।

  • I, Jarasandha, heading armies of 23 Akshouhinis, got defeated by Krishna seventeen times. Only in one campaign was I victorious.

    शौिे: सप्तदशाहं वै सयंुगानन पिाजजत:।त्रयोववशंनतशभ: सनै्यै: जजग्य एकमहं पिम॥् भा 10-54,13

  • Still, realizing that it is Time prompted by Iswara that brings about happiness and the contrary to man, I remain unaffected by joy or grief.

    तर्थाप्यं न शोिाशम न प्रहृष्याशम कद्रहयचित।्कालेन दैवयुक्तेन जानन ्वविाववतं जगत॥् भा। 10-54,14

    tathāpyaṃ na śocāmi na prahṛṣyāmi karhicit।kālena daivayuktena jānan vidrāvitaṃ jagat॥

    tadābravīt nabhovāṇī balenaiva jito glaha:।dharmato vacanenaiva rukmī vadati vai mṛṣā॥

  • “You fellows are mere cowherds and forest dwellers. Only kings of royal dynasties know how to play at dice and fight with arrows, not men like you.

    नैव अिकोववदा यूयं गोपाला वनगोििा:।अि:ै द व्यजन्त िाजानो बाणशै्ि न भवादृशा:॥ भा। 10-61,35

    naiva akṣakovidā yūyaṃ gopālā vanagocarā:।akṣai: dīvyanti rājāno bāṇaiśca na bhavādṛśā:॥

  • For fear of estranging the goodwill of either Rukmini or Balarama, the Lord did not make any favorable or adverse comment on His brother-in-law, Rukmi, having been killed.

    ननहते रुजक्मणण श्याले न अब्रवीत ्सा ु असा ु वा।रुजक्मणी बलयो: िाजन ्स्नेह भङ्ग भयात ्हरि:॥ भा। 10-61,39

  • Balarama desired to give her in marriage to Duryodhana, while others in the family were not agreeable to this. Now desiring to get her for himself. Arjuna went to Dwaraka in the guise of a Sanyasin.

    दयुाय नाय िामस्तां दास्यनत इनत न िापिे।तजल्लप्स:ु स यनत: भतू्वा त्रत्रदण्डी द्वािकामगात॥् भा। 10-86,3

    duryāedhanāya rāmastāṃ dāsyati iti na cāpare।tallipsu: sa yati: bhūtvā tridaṇḍī dvārakāmagāt॥

  • One day Balarama invited him

    to his house and fed him with

    great attention.

    एकदा गहृमानीय आनतथ्येन ननमन््य तम।्श्रद् या उपहृतं भकै्ष्यं बलेन बुभजेु ककल॥ भा। 10-86,5

    ekadā gṛhamānīya ātithyena nimantrya tam।śraddhayā upahṛtaṃ bhaikṣyaṃ balena bubhuje kila॥

  • One day when the girl came out of the citadel in a chariot to attend a religious festival. Arjuna, the great car-warrior, carried her away with the permission of Devaki, Vasudeva and the Lord Himself.

    महत्यां देवयात्रायां िर्थस्र्थां दगुयननगयताम।्जहाि अनुमत: वपत्रो: कृष्णस्य ि महािर्थ:॥ भा। 10-86,9 mahatyāṃ devayātrāyāṃ rathasthāṃ durganirgatām।jahāra anumata: pitro: kṛṣṇasya ca mahāratha:॥

  • Hearing about this, Balarama got furiouslyagitated like the sea on the full moon day,he calmed down when Krishna and otherrelatives pleaded with him, holding his feet.

    तच्छरुत्वा िुशभतो िाम: पवयणीव महाणयव:।गहृ तपाद: कृष्णेन सहुृद्शभ: िाान्वशाम्यत॥ भा। 10-86,11

    taccharutvā kṣubhito rāma: parvaṇīva mahārṇava:।gṛhītapāda: kṛṣṇena suhṛdbhi: cāānvaśāmyata॥

  • Rama now reconciled, sent as presents to the couple costly articles for personal use, an army with the four types of regiments and servants both male and female.

    प्राद्रहणोत ्पारिबहायणण विवध्वो: मदुा बल:।महा न उपस्किेभ-िर्थ-अश्व-नि-योवषत:॥ भा। 10-86-15 prāhiṇot pāribarhāṇi varavadhvo: mudā bala:।mahādhana upaskarebha-ratha-aśva-nara-yoṣita:॥

    avadhyo'yaṃ bhavelloke śatrūṇāṃ tanayo mama।varuṇastvabravīt prīto dadāmyasmai varaṃ hitam॥

  • This weapon should not be thrown on the person who does not fight in the war, if it so, it will fall on your head and kill you.

    अयुध्यनत न मोक्तव्या सा त्वय्येव पतेद्रदनत।हन्यादेषा प्रतीपं द्रह प्रयोक्तािमवप प्रभो॥ महा। िोणपवाय।ayudhyati na moktavyā sā tvayyeva patediti।hanyādeṣā pratīpaṃ hi prayoktāramapi prabho॥

    न िाकिोत ्स तद्वाक्यं प्राप्ते काले श्रुतायु :।स तया वीिघानतन्या जनादयनमताडयत॥् महा। िोणपवाय।na cākarot sa tadvākyaṃ prāpte kāle śrutāyudha:।sa tayā vīraghātinyā janārdanamatāḍayat॥
