Imipramine
Withdrawal symptoms after single missed doses Two patients with unipolar depression, a 33· year·old man and a 32-year-old woman, experienced nausea and dizziness after missing a single dQse of imipramine. They had both been on the drug for only 2 weeks ~ taking 200mg and 75mg, respectively, at bedtime. The symptoms promptly disappeared when imipramine was taken. After missing doses on 4 other occasions, the man experienced malaise, once accompanied by increased sweating and salivation. No other medication was taken by either patient. Similar symptoms have been noted after stopping imipramine and its derivatives desipramine and chloripramine after a course of therapy. These 2 cases differ from the others in that they occurred during therapy and after only 2 weeks on the drug. Stern. S. Land Mendel.'. J . Journal of Clinical P,ychiatry 41: 66 (Feb 1980.
