Sexual function disorders: incidence studyImipramine maintenance therapy does not appear to
adversely influence the level of sexual interest or pleasure inpatients with recurrent major depression, according to theresults of a US study.
A group of 71 women and 19 men, of mean age 40 years,completed at least 6 months of maintenance therapy witheither imipramine [dosage not stated; n = 45] or placebo (46).All patients had a baseline Hamilton Rating Scale forDepression of > 15. In contrast to previous findings with acuteimipramine therapy, there was no association betweenmaintenance imipramine treatment and the level of sexualfunctioning of both the men and women.Karp JF, et al.
