Dr. Hubert Reif (Vice-president of the Foundati on Board)

"The Greenfi nity Foundati on is committ ed to the very important issues of environmental and climate protecti on. It is important to address major environmental issues that we are currently encountering such as; CO2-emissions negati ve presence and long-term aff ect, the exploitati on of renewable resources, and water polluti on. By means of its projects the foundati on not only manages to raise awareness of these issues, but also to take concrete measures to improve the situati on. Constructi ng photovoltaic systems, reforesti ng and constructi ng small biogas plants in Kenya are only some examples of the Greenfi nity’s projects. It is a pleasure for me to accompany the foundati on’s work."

Greenfi nity Foundati onThe Lyoness Greenfi nity Foundati on (GFF) was established in 2011 as a non-profi t foundati on. It is a politi cally independent, charitable organizati on, which is acti vely involved in sustainably protecti ng the environment and realizing innovati ve climate protecti on projects worldwide as well as promoti ng the use of renewable energies.

The Lyoness Greenfi nity Foundati on has been working on its fi rst projects since 2012. It is important to the Greenfi nity Foundati on that Lyoness itself contributes to improving the environment and thus internal processes are being ecologically improved. Apart from these internal improvements the Greenfi nity Foundati on implements several local, regional and internati onal climate protecti on projects.

Guiding Principles, Values, GoalsGUIDING PRINCIPLE

"Together for our world. A future together."

This guiding principle accompanies the Greenfi nity’s work and expresses the fact that environmental protecti on is not only the business of some dedicated people, but concerns everyone. Only when working together, sustainable and eff ecti ve environmental protecti on is possible.

VALUES

• Promoti ng the use of alternati ve energies• Minimizing the environmental impact caused by humans• Promoti ng innovati ve soluti ons to generate renewable energy sources• Sustainable environmental protecti on

GOALS

The Foundati on’s goals are to reduce the negati ve influence which humans have on our environment by means of innovati ve climate protecti on projects as well as sustainably protecti ng the environment.

Applicati on of FundsThe GFF’s projects are being fi nanced by the internati onally acti ve Lyoness shopping community. Each member contributes acti vely to the realizati on of the Foundati on’s projects with a part of their purchases.

Acti ve users of the Cashback Card, Mobile Gift cards, Gift cards or Online Shopping do not only save money, but also support innovati ve climate protecti on projects worldwide. 100% of these funds are being used to support and implement environmental and climate protecti on projects. All administrati ve costs are covered by the Lyoness group.

ProjectsPHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS FOR SCHOOLS:HONDURAS, THE PHILIPPINES, AUSTRIA

The GFF provided photovoltaic systems for schools in Honduras, the Philippines and the Styrian "Vulkanland" area in Austria. This way the schools do not only save operati ng costs, the children at the same ti me are made aware of the topics of renewable energies and alternati ve ways of generati ng energy.

SMALL BIOGAS PLANTS IN KENYA

In the course of a partnership with the climate protecti on organizati on “atmosfair”, the Greenfi nity builds small biogas plants in Kenya. They deliver essenti al energy for cooking and heati ng water in an environmentally friendly manner. One of these plants produces about 3 KW of thermal energy, meaning the farmers are no longer dependent on buying additi onal wood, kerosene, liquefi ed petroleum gas, or charcoal. This reduces their cost of living. In additi on, knowledge is passed on in this manner as locals are trained to build biogas plants. The technology learned can be used in villages, which then leads to the creati on of jobs.

THE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

The so-called "ecological footprint" serves as an evaluati on tool for the company’s ecological and social compati bility. It is a comprehensive indicator of sustainability developed by scienti sts in 1994 and a metaphor of the consumpti on of resources based on the world’s biologically producti ve area. The ecological footprint indicates how many hectares of producti ve land our planet has to provide in order to supply resources for an individual person, a company or a whole country as well as to absorb and recycle their waste. From 1981 unti l today, the ecological footprint which humans leave behind has been larger than what the Earth can sustain. The world populati on’s standard of living thus is beyond the planet’s capacity.

The Insti tute of Process and Parti cle Engineering of Graz University of Technology provides the scienti fi c research for calculati ng the Lyoness group’s ecological footprint. Prof. Dr. Michael Narodoslawsky’s team developed an ecological evaluati on system for the Lyoness locati ons, events and projects on a scienti fi c basis on behalf of the Greenfi nity Foundati on. The TU Graz’s evaluati on system does not only take CO2-emissions into account but also many other areas in which humans have an impact on the environment.

ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT OF THE LYONESS OPEN

In 2012 the Greenfi nity determined the ecological footprint of a European Tour Event for the fi rst ti me. In 2013 targeted measures are being taken in order to reduce this footprint. Among other acti ons, part of the parking space fees benefi ts the environmental protecti on project "Generati onenwald" (generati on’s forest) in Purkersdorf (Lower Austria). Cooperati on’s with local companies have been established in order to reduce travel distances, regional and organic food is being used and the waste management concept has been improved. Furthermore, the local power grid is increasingly used in order to reduce the use of diesel generator sets. In this area other improvements were made as well in order to reduce the consumpti on of energy. Shutt le busses are provided, which leads to a reducti on of emissions.

CALCULATOR FOR THE PERSONAL ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

The GFF off ers the opportunity to calculate one’s personal ecological footprint, for example of a journey or the daily route to work, at www.lyoness-GFF.org. It also off ers the opportunity to compensate this footprint by supporti ng a reforestati on project (further informati on under "Support and help").

REFORESTATION IN NICARAGUA AND GERMANY

Local tree species will be planted on fallow and barren soil in order to grow wood, an important resource, which can be used by locals instead of oil, kerosene or lignite. Reforestati on also creates vital resources for animals and plants as well as new habitats for endangered species. Moreover, a livelihood will be created for local farmers and foresters, which will be secured because of the project’s long-term set-up and sustainable management. Additi onally, sustainable climate improvement will thereby be achieved.

PHOTOVOLTAIC FILLING STATION

In order to ensure sustainable mobility which does not cause any emissions for Lyoness employees, a photovoltaic fi lling stati on including ten recharging stati ons for E-bikes and E-scooters was built. In additi on, E-bikes and E-scooters were bought which employees are free to use. So, errands can be run and the distance between the company’s two locati ons in Graz can be covered more easily, cost-effi ciently, and quickly.

Support and helpEVERY PURCHASE MATTERS

With every purchase made through Lyoness- the Lyoness Greenfi nity Foundati on’s projects are being supported automati cally with a fi xed percentage. Acti ve users of the Lyoness Cashback Card, the Mobile Gift cards (Mobile Cash back), Gift Cards, and Online Shopping not only save money, but at the same ti me make a contributi on to environmental protecti on.

GFF MERCHANDISING COLLECTION

The GFF off ers merchandising products branded with the Greenfi nity’s design. There is a choice of texti les, such as T-shirts and polo-shirts, accessories and gadgets such as a solar-torch. All proceeds from the sale of these products directly benefi t the Greenfi nity Foundati on.

COMPENSATING THE PERSONAL ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

The personal ecological footprint, for example of a journey or the daily way to work, can be determined on the Greenfi nity’s website (www.lyoness-GFF.org). The GFF off ers the opportunity to compensate this footprint by supporti ng the reforestati on projects in Nicaragua and Germany.
