    CTR&TI A flagship Institution of Tasar Industry

    About CTR&TI

    Central Tasar Research and Training Institute (CTR&TI) is one of the premier Institutes of Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. It was established in 1964 as Central Tasar Research Station (CTRS) with a prime objective of providing R & D support to Tasar Industry. Later, to fulfill the requirement of Human Resource Development and Training for the growth of Tasar Industry, the training component was added to CTRS, giving its present name - CTR&TI. The Institute is having its Research and Administrative building, tasar host plantation as well as residential quarters spread over in an area of 86.31 acres of land. Besides, with its network of eight Regional Tasar Research Stations (RTRS), thirteen Research Extension Centers (REC), three P4 Silkworm Breeding Centers and one Oak tasar grainage at Imphal, the Institute provides the state-of-the-art technological know-how to its command States.

    CTR&TI has well equipped R&D sections with a wide range of modern equipments. The Institute has a Library having a good collection of scientific journals of International repute, books and technical reports. The Institute undertakes all sorts of R&D programmes, including molecular level to unearth the intricacies of tasar silkworm for breaking the barrier of productivity and quality. Though the Institute performs all its activities on the funds made available from Ministry of Textiles - Govt. of India, it also receives funds from different Govt. agencies like Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, New Delhi; National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD), etc. for implementation of specific R&D and HRD based projects.
