എെന്റ പര്ിയ സേഹാദരങ്ങേള,

എെന്റ ബാലയ്കാലത്ത് ഒരു നിശ്ചിത തീയതിയിൽ േലാകം അവസാനിക്കുവാൻ േപാകുന്നു എന്ന വാർത്ത ഇട ിെട പരന്നി രുന്നു. മരണെത്തക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചിന്ത അന്നു േവട്ടയാടുേമ്പാൾ njാൻ ചിന്തിച്ചിരുന്നത് മരിക്കുകയാെണങ്കിൽ അമ്മയുെട കൂെട അമ്മ യുെട ൈകയിൽ പിടിച്ചുെകാണ്ടാകണം എന്നാണ്. കാരണം ബാലയ്കാലത്ത് നമ്മുെട ആശര്യവും സുരക്ഷിതതവ്വും പര്ശ്ന ങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉത്തരവും മുഖയ്മായി അമ്മയായിരുന്നു.

നാം ഈ േലാകത്തിൽ പിറക്കും മുൻപ് തുടങ്ങിയതാണ് അമ്മയുമായുള്ള ശാരീരികവും മാനസികവുമായ ബന്ധം. പിറവി ക്കുമുൻപ് അമ്മയുെട ശരീരത്തിെന്റ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന നമ്മൾ അമ്മ യുെട ഉദരത്തിലാണേലല്ാ വളർന്നത് . പിറവി േശഷം െപാ ക്കിൾെകാടി മുറിച്ചുമാറ്റിെയങ്കിലും അമ്മയുമായുള്ള മായാത്ത ബന്ധത്തിെന്റ മുദര്യായി മരിക്കുേവാളം െപാക്കിൾെക്കാടി നമ്മു െട ശരീരത്തിെന്റ മദ്ധയ്ഭാഗത്ത് നിലനി ക്കുന്നു.

കര്േമണ പര്ായമാകുേമ്പാൾ അമ്മയുമായി ആത്മബന്ധം തുടരു െന്നങ്കിലും നമുക്കു ജന്മം ന ിയ അമ്മയുെട പരിമിതികൾ നാം മനസ്സിലാക്കി തുടങ്ങുന്നു. െചറുപ്പത്തിൽ നമുക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന സുര ക്ഷിതതവ്േമാ പര്ശ്ന പരിഹാരേമാ ആ അമ്മ ന ാനാവിെലല്ന്നും, ൈവകാരികവും ആത്മീയവുമായ പിന്തുണ ന ാേന കഴിയൂ എന്നും നമുക്കു േബാദ്ധയ്മാകുന്നു. എന്നാൽ നാം എതര് വളർന്നാ ലും നമുക്ക് ആശര്യിക്കുവാൻ ഒരു അമ്മ േവണം. അതിന് ഈേശാ നമുക്കു തന്ന അമ്മയാണ് തെന്റ മാതാവായ പരിശുദ്ധ കനയ്കാമറിയം.

കുരിശിൻ ചുവട്ടിെല സഹനത്തിെന്റ അതികഠിന നിമിഷങ്ങ ളിലും ഈേശാ ശക്തി പകർന്ന അമ്മ നമ്മുെട ഏതു പര്തിസ ന്ധിയിലും നേമ്മാെടാപ്പമുണ്ടാകും. ആ അമ്മേയാടുള്ള ഭക്തി പര്േതയ്കം പര്കടിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള കാലഘട്ടമാണ് ഒേക്ടാബർ എന്ന െകാന്തമാസം. അനുദിന കുടുബങ്ങളിെല െകാന്ത കൂടാെത െകാന്ത നമസ്കാരത്തിൽ പെങ്കടുത്ത് നാം മാതാവിേനാടുള്ള പര്േതയ്ക വണക്കം നടത്തുന്നു.

ഈേശാ തന്ന അതിശക്തയായ ൈദവമാതാവിൽ ആശര്യി ക്കാത്തവരാണ് ആൾ ൈദവങ്ങളായ മാതാക്കെളയും അനയ്മത ങ്ങളിെല േദവിമാെരയും േതടി േപാകുന്നത് . അവരുെട പരിമി തി തീതമാണ് നമ്മുെട പരിശുദ്ധ അമ്മ. അവൾ സഭാ ചരിതര് ത്തിൽ പലേപ്പാഴും ഇടെപട്ട് സഹായഹസ്തം നീട്ടുകയും, മാനസാ ന്തരെപ്പട്ട് തെന്റ തിരുക്കുമാരനിേല മടങ്ങുവാൻ േപര്രിപ്പിക്കു കയും െചയയ്ാറുണ്ട് . അവയിൽ പലതും സഭ ഔേദയ്ാഗികമായി ശരിെയന്ന് അംഗീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് .

െകാന്തഭക്തി മാതാവിൽനിന്നു വന്നതാണ് . മനുഷയ്ാവ താരവും ബലിയർപ്പണവുംവഴി നമ്മുെട േജയ്ഷ്ഠനായി മാറിയ ഈേശായുെട രക്ഷാകര പദ്ധതിയിെല പര്ധാന മുഹൂർത്തങ്ങൾ ധയ്ാനിച്ച് ഈേശാവഴി പിതാവായ ൈദവെത്ത ആരാധിക്കുക യാണ് അതിെന്റ ആതയ്ന്തിക ലക്ഷയ്ം.

മാതാവിെന ആരാധിക്കുന്നവരാണ് കേത്താലിക്കെരന്നു ചിലർ െതറ്റിദ്ധരിക്കാറുണ്ട് . അതു ശരിയലല്. പരിശുദ്ധ തര്ീതവ്െത്ത മാതര്േമ നാം ആരാധിക്കാറുള്ളു. ലുത്തിനിയാകളിൽ ൈദവെത്ത പരാമർശിക്കുേമ്പാൾ "അനുഗര്ഹിക്കണേമ" എന്നും, മാതാവി െനേയാ മറ്റു വിശുദ്ധെരേയാ വിളിച്ചേപക്ഷിക്കുേമ്പാൾ "nj ങ്ങള്‍ക്കുേവണ്ടി അേപക്ഷിക്കണേമ" എന്നുമാണേലല്ാ നാം പര്ാർത്ഥിക്കാറുള്ളത് . മാതാവിേനാേടാ മറ്റു വിശുദ്ധേരാേടാ നാം പര്ാർത്ഥിക്കുേമ്പാൾ അവരുെട മാദ്ധയ്സ്ഥം വഴി ൈദവേത്താട് അനുഗര്ഹം യാചിക്കുകയും അവരുെട ജീവിത മാതൃക അനുകരി ക്കുവാൻ ശര്മിക്കുകയുമാണു െചയയ്ുക.

From the barrio to the high-rise, from the East to the West, from the communist nations to the capitalist countries, we see the emergence of vast numbers of the baptized, as they offer their gifts as ministers in the local churches and in the world. The spirit of the early church is energizing the little people of God with new outpouring of gifs. On 15 August 2009, Justice Cyriac Joseph of Indian Su-preme Court, while addressing the International Laity Conference organized by Commission for Laity of Syro-Malabar Catholic Church [CLSMCC] in Ko-chi, openly and fearlessly declared his commitment to the church. Daring sons and daughters of the church who are in viable and wielding leadership positions should seek sin-cere avenues and greater participations in expressing their faith in a more fraternal way.

The lay members of the early church as narrated in the Acts of the Apostles were engaged in steady and unfailing communal prayers; they showed intense desire to share their possessions among themselves and actively partici-pated in the celebration of the Eucharist. In the wake of alarming decline in vocations a collective effort in the pro-motion of lay ministry within Catholic Church is need of the hour. Perhaps parents being actively involving in lay ministries can promote and promulgate vocations both by direct and indirect mediations. "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing; and he said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?' They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us'. He said to them, 'You go into the vineyard too'"(Mt 20:6-7).Since the work that awaits everyone in the vineyard of the Lord is so great there is no place for idleness. With even greater urgency the "householder" repeats his invitation: "You go into my vineyard too". The voice of the Lord clearly resounds in the depths of each of Christ's followers, who through faith and the sacraments of Christian initiation is made like to Jesus Christ, is incorporated as a living member in the Church and has an active part in her mission of salvation.

"The term 'lay faithful'" -we read in the Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium - "is here understood to mean all the faithful except those in Holy Orders and those who belong to a religious state sanctioned by the Church. Through Baptism the lay faithful are made one body with Christ and are established among the People of God. They are in their own way made sharers in the priestly, prophetic and kingly office of Christ. They carry out their own part in the mission of the whole Christian people with respect to the Church and the world".

Unfortunately our times are hard and even to casual onlooker can see the frustrating point to which a deficiency

of theology of ministry, both priestly and lay, has drawn upon the church and its efficacies. It has come to a stage where even the absences of theol-ogy and divinity degrees the faithful lay members are welcome to be integral part of our ever growing church ministries. One can see the lay involvement in the rapid growth of the church from Moses to Jesus and from Jesus to Paul, the strong thread of lay ministry as an accomplishing and complacent factor. The vibrant spiritual life of the Christian

churches was aided by active involvement of the lay minis-ters and lay martyrs who offered life homage lest the church of their desire would not stop its thriving growth. Once again, the hour is rushing upon us, to model of wor-ship communities on the sagely lives of lay ministers and saints who were lay members of the church who were proud to be ordinary members of the church who were de-voted to the church and the life of its people.

If the ever vibrant Catholic Church is to remain so with its traditional and dogmatic infrastructures, in our own times, the call to lay ministry and vocation, are to be seen through the spectrum of kaleidoscopic view at the hierar-chical and grass root levels. Fr. Mutholath’s efforts in this respect of starting Catechism ministry run by lay members and other numerous lay activities in the community speaks for the wakeup call that the KCBC has towards lay in-volvement in the affairs of the church. This involvement which is always in wanting state and not exceeding level needs to be followed by all the Knanaya Community Cen-ters across North America. Lay Catholic ministry is a unique opportunity that takes the church back to its early growth stage. The church can prove its spiritual efficacy over and over again by engaging both priestly ministry and lay ministry in hand in hand situation.

The limiting outlook of the seven sacraments, the stum-bling restrictions on lay participations in the church, the loss of spiritual meaning of ministry, in the absence of lay vocations and ministries the church is looked upon by evangelical churches as one of over clericalization. The above mentioned non-ideal conditions are all stones across huge but movable stones across the door of the tomb that block the resurrection of the church to its full vitality and rejuvenated strength. The fact that, the first leader of the apostles, Peter was a married apostle gives hope for all the lay ministers and would be lay ministers. In a fast changing world, when God’s grace is dispensed by persons from among the people reaching for grace. In Acts of the Apos-tles chapter four states all the important aspects of the early church such as: faithfulness to the teachings of Christ,

communal prayers, sharing possessions, and celebrating the Eucharist. When we have the courage and wisdom to look at lay ministry from a historical perspective, this form of ministry is most accepted from and we can easily visual-ize the amble opportunities that are part of lay ministry. In a liberated lay ministry, we can see some kind of standard against the future. The lay community of any church is its average and ordinary faithful. In the much spiritual excite-ments bringing lay ministry, one can see these little people of the church are on the move. It is high time that the lead-ers of the church as well as the faithful visualize the emer-gence lay ministers as counselors, retreat speakers, spiritual elders, gurus, benefactors and so on, as a new spiritual re-awakening within the church. The church today needs to take innovative initiation to promote and co-ordinate the apostolate of the laity and their Christian life.

The origin of the Pontifical Council for the Laity goes back to a proposal formulated in the Decree on the Lay Apostolate of the Second Vatican Council. It was officially created by Paul VI on 6 January 1967 with the motu pro-prio Catholicam Christi Ecclesiam. The Apostolic Consti-tution, Pastor Bonus of 28 June 1988, with this document John Paul II traced the new outlines of the lay ministry. The Constitution states that the Pontifical Council for the

(Continued from page 4) Laity is competent in those matters pertaining to the Apos-tolic See in promoting and coordinating the apostolate of the laity and, generally, in those matters respecting the Christian life of lay people. It urges and supports lay peo-ple to participate in the life and mission of the Church in their own way, as individuals or in associations, especially so that they may carry out their special responsibility of filling the realm of temporal things with the spirit of the Gospel. It fosters joint action among lay people in cate-chetical instruction, in liturgical and sacramental life as well as in works of mercy, charity and social development; and it attends to and organizes international conferences and other projects concerning the apostolate of the laity. Finally, the Constitution pastor Bonus states that «within the parameters of its own competence, the Council per-forms all activities respecting lay associations of the Chris-tian faithful; it erects associations of an international char-acter and provides approval or recognition for their stat-utes, saving the competence of the Secretariat of State. Pope Paul VI declared: “No one can fail to see that the La-ity Council and lay members with ministerial responsibili-ties are destined to have a privileged place within the Church.” Hence, growing awareness of the dignity and responsible participation of the lay faithful is a need at the threshold of the Third Millennium.

Prayer To The Blessed Virgin (Never known to fail)

Oh most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me shown herein, You are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven & Earth I humbly beseech You from the bottom of my heart to support me in the necessity. There are none that can withstand Your power. Oh, show me herein You are my mother. Oh Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee. Holy Mother, I place this cause in Your hands (3 times). Holy Spirit, You solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal. You who have given me the divine gift to forgive & forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life You are with me.
