Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus in anelderly patient: case report
A 71-year-old woman developed subacute cutaneouslupus erythematosus (SCLE) during treatment withcitalopram for major depression.
The woman presented with sudden-onset erythema, andwas hospitalised. Six months before hospitalisation, shehad started citalopram 10 mg/day [route not stated]. Threedays later, she had developed a rash on her back, whichhad resolved within 2 weeks with cortisone creamtreatment. Citalopram had been withdrawn after 3 months,but was restarted at a dose of 20mg [frequency not stated]in the following months. Two days later, she developedpruritic erythema, with blisters and infiltrates on her trunk,fever and malaise. Histological and laboratory findingswere consistent with SCLE.
After citalopram was withdrawn, her fever, malaise andrash resolved. She subsequently started mirtazapinetreatment.
